I read a number of discussion threads and related forums before purchasing my first Solid State Drive. Samsungs EVO devices drew consistently positive responses from customers. I bought it concurrently with getting a brand new desktop PC, as I wanted to enjoy the speed of booting from an SSD. It lives up to its stellar reviews. Ive never seen Windows boot up with such astonishing rapidity. The drive comes with two pieces of software (Samsung Data Migration and Samsung Magician) that make installation and optimization very simple. (There are also numerous instructional videos on YouTube that I found helpful). This drive can be installed in either a desktop or a laptop (depending on the model of laptop, of course). INCLUDED: The drive and one cable are included, along with the software. You will also need a USB/SATA adapter (available here on Amazon), and a SATA cable to connect the SSD to the computer (again, this depends on where you are installing it). INSTALLATION: Once the software is installed, the user is instructed to connect the SSD to a USB port--this is where the adapter comes in. One of the most impressive features of the Samsung hardware and software combination is the ease of cloning another drive. Thus it can be used to make an EXACT copy of another drive (assuming the data will fit onto the SSD). You are guided through the process. My application was a little more complicated because I wanted to not only clone the HDD that came with the new computer, but I also wanted to boot from the new SSD. Thus I had some tinkering to do with the BIOS and Windows Disk Management. On the other hand, some users will be replacing the HDD in their laptops or PCs with this drive, and the cloning operation makes this very, very easy. All the information, including the OS and all software and date are transferred; the partitions are kept exactly the same. All in all, this is an excellent product, well supported by the manufacturer, and comes with a 3-year warranty. I daresay the average user will get somewhat more life out of it than that. Though there are some less expensive SSDs on the market, I think this provides a worthy combination of quality, reliability, and value.

Very fast and enough room to fit your OS and most commonly used programs on there.

this here ssd has opened my eyes and I want more! I got the 250GB model and now I want more gigs cause it is such a fast bad ssd and make load time almost non existent. I walk through a door in skyrim and I see the screen turn black not even have time to show the image you see on loading screens (we have all see them in Skyrim on 360 and ps4) but I cant its near instant, and the included software makes memory management super easy and user friendly. I move files from my boot drive to my non ssd hard drive a lot and its super easy thanks to Samsungs software wizard.

I bought a 250GB 850 EVO in late 2015 and its still running perfectly fast and smooth as if I had just installed it. As a photographer and videographer I push this thing to its limits moving files, rendering, downloading, saving, etc. Pretty much everything and its never let me down. I have no complaints.

Fast SSD and works like a charm. Have not taken any measurements, but the boot time for Windows 7 on a Lenovo W530 is under a minute. Ive used other products of the EVO family in the past (256 and 128GB), each of them is still performing without any issue till today.

I love samsung ssd, and you cannot beat the price of the evo. This is my 3rd. Warning: if you have more than one spinning hard drive in your house, do not try this unit out, because you will not be able to stand those old drives.

Big frickin BOO-HOO! to Samsung!!!!! The only way to check and update the firmware for this drive is to have it installed on your Windows SATA bus!! External USB will not work! So guess what.... if you run a non-Windows OS you are WHOLLY screwed! I run Linux and hopefully the drive runs great with its Amazon-shipped firmware. Stupid Samsung doesnt provide a stand alone firmware updater. Im an avid buyer of gadgets and electronic. Well, Im here to say that of all the choices that I have as of September 2016, I will be putting Samsung stuff at the bottom of the selection pile. Grrrrr!!!

Has worked flawlessly thus far in my MBP 2010. Have seen a huge increase in speed compared to the old hard drive that wasnt a SSD. Would recommend, :)
