I ordered this to replace my first Shark (same model number) that finally died after almost 5 years of service. While this one has the same great suction, I was disappointed to see the shortcuts that were, no doubt, done to keep the price point. This one does not have the smaller power head, crevice tool down graded, and most aggravating, the cord is a good three feet shorter. Glad I keep the attachments from the first one.

Aug 12 2015 Update: Had an issue with the motor & had to call cust service. Problem was handled very quickly & efficiently! Thanks! Orig REview: I researched until I was blue in the face because I do NOT like to sweep & I didnt want to buy a problem or a disappointment. Sweeping is a pain & a chore. But to my surprise every time I use this Shark it brings a SMILE! :) Wasnt sure what t to expect with this Shark,...there were some mixed reviews & opinions were helpful. Since I own several Dysons including a Dyson 44 (Im not happy with the D-44 or small storage of the Black & Decker Platinum 20v hand vac) I looked at buying the dyson59. Glad I chose this Shark,...though nothing is Perfect...& this Shark is not designed for all situations. PERFORMANCE: I dont try to sweep a large house,..its just not designed for that. Its great for quick, effective clean ups but has flexibility to do larger areas too. Shark give me flexibility to keep my full-size Dyson in the closet much much longer between major cleaning. Thats nice. With a cord I have no batteries to run down unexpectedly. Nice. Yes I do have to find an outlet to plug it in, but its got a very long cord which minimizes that minor annoyance. -The dust /dirt collection cup is much biGGer than the Dysons Ive tried & much easier to dump without a mess. Plus the dirt cup is easily detachable with one hand,..very convenient, well thought out,...a major plus. -The snap connections on the shaft of my portable Dyson are so loose goosey its like trying to sweep with a droopy wet noodle & leaks suction. Not fun. -But the Rocket is ROCK SOLID! The locking couplers on the shaft are very solid w/no loss of suction. No wet noodle feeling at all. Its a lightweight metal of some sort more durable than plastic. But I resisted buying Shark for a long time because of the huckster feel to their advertising that made me resist buying. Sharks First Class Quality Engineering surprised me. OTHER PLUSSES: * * *NEW UPDATE.... When I need to store the unit I dont use the wall hook. Instead of mounting a plastic hook somewhere to hang the Shark, I lean the Sharp upright against the wall as one unit, nothing detached,....with the bottom vac head close to the wall. Its quick, easy, nothing to disassemble, no mounting hooks involved, convent storage anywhere while minimizing storage space. -Lean Storage works for me because of two small, strategically placed rubberized feet /knobs on the underside of the dust cup that helps grab the wall so it doesnt slide down. It also creates a 3-point stability between the 2 rubberized knobs & the sweeper head flat on the floor. In this 3-point position the Shark rests nicely balanced /stabilized with minimal storage space yet ready to conveniently swing into action quickly. -smartHE (smart Handy Engineering). The placement of rubber knobs is one example of what I call smartHE (Smart Handy Engineering) or smart, handy, practical engineering features that enhance Sharks performance, reduce stress & make it flat out easier /even fun to use. These small rubber knobs do double duty cushioning /stabilizing the plastic dirt cup when laying the sweeper flat on the floor. SUGG: would be helpful if Shark could enhance this upright storage feature with some pop-out rubber feet on the sweeper head & larger rubber on the bottom of the dirt bin. The 3-point storage is easy & simply needs a wall /closet etc to lean against. The rubber under the dirt cup keeps everything stable & in place,...automatically keeping itself from walking /rolling away from the wall or falling over sideways. I store it upright like this even on smooth hardwood floors. Very convenient & gives max flexibility to store it most anywhere out of sight, in an quiet corner, etc.. Nice! With a little practice its easy to catch on to the technique & not have problems of it falling over as some reviewers have mentioned. -Vac performance works great on medium, short carpeting, hardwood floors & tile. Dont have to change height or anything,...just flip a switch that slows the beater brush on smooth surfaces. On deeper pile carpet I go to high speed. I read the directions. Easy Peasy & effective. -***UPDATE: The Sweepers Headlight was a BIG SURPRISE. The angle & intensity allows me to actually SEE THE DIRT dirt /dust on my medium dark hard wood floors. Nothing in the marketing describes this benefit, but its a real help to actually see where Ive swept & see the dust in areas yet to be swept. NO MORE GUESSING! As a result I havent really used any other attachment yet. The slower brush speed setting for wood floors attracts dirt & smart handy engineering keeps the spinning roller from damaging the wood floor. Never a danger of that. -Bot the motorized animal attachment for cat hair & misc on bedding. I can immediately see the results in the transparent collection container. Use Shark for steps too, but often too lazy to switch the heads & simply use my normal floor attachment for steps too,... with great success. * * * UPDATE... WHEEL NOISE & HARDWOOD FLOORS: Not an issue for me. The two large wheels have rubberized tread which deaden click clacking over wood /tile floors & superior to all-plastic wheels wheels on most vacs. -The two small spacing rollers on the front of the sweeper head are not rubberized & do make some rolling noise on wood. Some reviews reported the noise was annoying on hard floors but on balance was not an issue for me. * * * NEW TIP: IF YOU HAVE A BAD BACK or trouble bending over you can wind the electric cord without bending. While standing upright with cord in hand, simply let out enough cord to loop it over the lower hook when draw the cord back over the upper hook then let out enough length to loop under the lower hook & repeat. The cord is flexible yet stiff enough to make this work easily. With a little practice youll catch on easily. Works for me. -Does have a nice LOOOONG cord. But I always come to an end somewhere where an just an extra 5 feet would be nice. Its one of those things where LOOOG is never long enough! An extra 5 feet would be handy if it can be safely done. -Durability & Longevity....only time will tell. But this Shark is starting from higher quality level /features than battery powered units like Dyson44 /59. That higher quality & attention to detail usually translates to durability & longevity. GREATEST STRENGTH: HIGH QUALITY & VERSATILITY. Does not pretend to be a full size vacuum. But delivers Big time features. Shark adapts well to most situations /hardwood /tile /medium & short carpet, under furniture & hard to reach places with excellent heppa filtration thats easy to clean & refuse. No special filters to constantly buy. So its versatile, self contained & easy to maintain filters with peak performance. It is wrist arm intensive so if youre handicapped in those areas you may want to stay with traditional floor sleepers,,,but can always give it a 30 day test /return. -Usually avail at a lower price than battery powered competitors. With Shark theres no limit on run time,...no expensive batteries to wear out or repurcha$e. Just plug & run. -TOO MUCH: Suction & cleaning performance are excellent. Some sweepers Ive used have TOO MUCH suction making it tough to easily move the sweeper across the carpet because it sucks down on the floor /carpet & wont glide. No problem here w/Shark due to smart engineering that manages the suction well & picks up the dirt. With a little care & technique I can sweep even loose throw carpets without it being sucked off the floor into the sweeper head. SUGG: it would be nice if Shark had a safety overload pop-out reset switch to protect the head roller & motor if something gets caught in the roller. CONS & More SUGGS: There arent many. Plastic wall mounting hook is a little weak. But thats not an issue for me since I use the handy 3-point storage for leaning against a wall in a closet or empty corner out of sight yet close at hand. This makes sweeping quick & effective,...not a big production. An extra 5ft on the cord would be nice. Extra lights on the sweeper head that shine not only to the front, but to the sides for larger viewing area would be nice. Adjust the motor to get rid of the annoying whine. A simple quick wheel lock to keep the unit from rolling away from the wall when storing /leaning it upright. -A larger accessory bag that closes more secure with a couple fabric loops for hanging would be nice. I dont change accessories very often & store them in the handy bag on a hook in my closet. Some reviewers prefer having all attachments on the shaft at all times, but for my taste that reduces portability & performance which is Shark. Besides, I can use my big, bulky sweeper if I want all my attachments at my fingertips. * * * UPDATE: MY CAT ALWAYS JETS out of the room whenever I start a sweeper. To my compete surprise, my cat GRACIE just calmly sat there watching me sweep away! Who knew?! Ha! SHARK IS CAT ENDORSED... :). BOTT LINE: Brings a s-m-i-l-e every time I use it. Pushing my Shark I feel smart, refined & minimal. Now when going back & pushing my full sized vac I feel clunky & out of step. Just sayin. Unexpectedly gives me a smile & lift on what used to be a chore. After owning 3/4 Dysons, I finally chose to break away from all that overpriced hype & poorly fitting cheap plastic. It was hard to convince myself to do that. I know were just talking about a sweeper here, but the feeling of freedom & discovery was worth it. This shark delivered solutions for all the annoyances that were trapping me with Dyson & other brands. Sharks smartHE (smart Handy Engineering) features are second to none. Superior fit /finish, exceptional cleaning performance, versatility, larger collection cup easily removable, smarter design, usually less expensive... this Shark is a winner in my book. Glad I gave it a try. Our cat Grace is much happier, too. HIGHLY Recommend. EASILY EARNS 5-STARS!

I previously owned, for 12 years, a Shark Rocket Deluxe Pro corded stick vacuum, and I will not go back to a canister vacuum which I purchased numerous times. Its lightweight, suction is great, and it fits under the bed and most furniture. If you empty the dust cup once a month or sooner, if needed, and clean the filters at the same time, the vacuum will sevice you for many years. Mine probably would have lasted longer if I had remembered to change, or wash the filters when I emptied the dust cup this last time.

This vacuum is great. Easy to set up and use. Just one thing bothered me. It did not come with the piece to attach the tools to the vacuum.

This vacuum had excellent suction, but a terrible design. It is advertised as light-weight, but it is top heavy due to the hand vac feature, which makes it difficult to push. If youre hands are very strong, and you dont mind leaning it against something to keep it upright, then go for it. The vacuum is so top heavy, that it actually is painful to push. I knew within the first minute it was going to be a problem. Every time you stop it, you have to find something to lean it against. While the hand vac is probably a nice feature, it doesnt compensate for the inconvenience of the design. Back it goes.

We have one very sweet little cat that seems to lose its weight in hair every month - its everywhere. Not to mention kitty litter and dried up bits of food that coat the floors in all of the rooms week upon week... Ive only ever had $60-80 vacuums and with all of the trouble they have caused with clogged filters, lack of power and loss of suction, I decided to invest in this Shark and I have to say, its a darn good vacuum. When Im using this thing, I believe I actually have a look on my face similar to the woman in the pictures - like were content to vacuum all day long and possibly for a living. It truly is a joy to use - very lightweight but still has some heft in the main motor unit so you can tell it is built well. And it is powerful - I havent kept up with the technological advances in home vacuums and havent done the tests with nuts, bolts, marbles or a bowling ball - but it does hurt when you get it stuck to your face - FYI. All of the attachments connect to the unit with a satisfying click and are effortlessly removed. The carpet sweeper unit helps propel itself forward on even the thicker carpets which is a treat because the older cheapo units would get stuck in some areas. Maneuverability and getting under low clearance objects is now done with total ease. The hardwood floor attachment with the terrycloth pad that wipes while moving it across the floor works well too. And though the dual lights on the carpet sweeper and the one on the main unit look really cool (like Audi supplied headlights for this thing), I was surprised to find that they actually light up the carpet/floor and work very well in spotting areas you may have missed. The smaller upholstery sweeper is my favorite attachment and after using it on two of my sofas, I was amazed (and then equally appalled) at how much dirt and hair was deposited into the bin. And the bin is small - like others reviewers stated, I had to empty it 3-4 times after doing the whole place on the first use. However, like a lot of them said, that was just the first time going through what I previously presumed to be my clean apartment. The next week yielded far less and I only had to empty twice (and thats because I leave the bin clean for the next use to gauge how dirty things get over the week). Its a cinch to empty and clean - unlike the last Hoover I owned...I dont want to talk about that. The other truly wonderful thing about this vacuum and my main reason for buying it is its small footprint. Its not designed to stand upright on its own but if you live in a 1 bedroom apartment with valuable limited closet space and a girlfriend/wife that wants all that limited space to herself for her stuff, you dont want a vacuum taking up space where your Taylormades clearly fit and absolutely belong. A plastic wall/door mount hook comes in the box and I now have it mounted on the wall close to the ceiling inside my precious tool closet where it fits perfectly and is totally out of the way of anything else stuffed in there, the bag of attachments hanging right next to it. The only slightly annoying part is cord management (and I say this coming from a vacuum that had a retractable cord so dont take it too seriously unless you currently have one with that option and have gotten used to the bliss of not having to wrap and then unwrap when you are told you missed an area that needs cleaning). There is a cord hook on the main unit and then a hook on the carpet sweeper and the floor sweeper. If you have the cord wrapped around the hooks on the unit and either of those attachments, you cannot remove that attachment from the extension pole without unwrapping the cord completely. Its a small hassle and easily remedied by just wrapping the cord around the main unit handle and dust bin instead of using the hooks. That way, you can interchange and store the way you want without fussing with the cord first. As you can tell, Im not getting technical on this review - I dont know much about vacuums because they arent my thing and it took some deep reasoning and soul searching for me to pull the trigger on a $250 (with tax) dirt sucking machine - I was simultaneously looking at any other FUN electronic item for the same amount before I clicked buy. But, all-in-all, Im happy with the choice and thanks to all the reviewers who helped me make it. If youre living with someone who has de facto control over all of the storage space in a 1 bedroom apartment with 4 small closets but only 1.5 you can call yours and everything of communal use has to go in your closet exclusively, this is the vacuum for you. If you have more space to work with and call your own, good for you - very happy for you. You will like the vacuum too.

Its a genius design. I absolutely love the fact that they made this so lightweight and powerful at the same time. I tried my sisters out and fell in love. I went straight home and bought my own. I ordered it on a sunday and had it by tuesday. Crazy fast shipping. I felt like a kid on christmas morning. It was so easy to put together. Just snapped together no instructions needed. I have 4 dogs and 1 very fluffy cat. They all go outside several times a day. And they bring the outside in with them. I sweep, dustmop, and swiffer several times a week. And lug out our vacuum once sometimes twice a week. Its not a giant old school vacuum, but its still very heavy. And I hate it because its so heavy. The shark however. Is like a dream to use. Im not talking fairytale princess, dancing in the living room with my ballgown and crown dream. But, this makes my vacuuming easier, dream. lol It cleans so well. I love the swivel head. Its much quieter the my other vacuum I have. The cord is so lightweight that it just flows with it the vacuum. I dont have to fight with the cord to keep it out of the way. I have shoulder problems and my arm will go numb pushing and pulling on my other vacuum. The shark however is a weightless in comparison. Its easy to pick up and move if I have to. And its small head gets under an in between things so great. Its so nice not having to move everything when its time to vacuum. With the shark I could vacuum everyday if I wanted, and not dread it. And extremely easy to take the canister off, and its easy to dump. It has 2 lights on it 1 at the top shining down and 1 on the head itself shining forward making everything visible so you wont miss anything. It has 2 settings bare floor and carpet. I used it on my entry rug. Its a rubber rug with scrappers on it. Ive tried everything to clean this thing. Nothing worked. Used the shark on it with capet setting and now it looks new. It comes with 2 extra tool / heads. My only complaints is theres no place on the vacuum to put the extra tools. And you have to buy the wall mounting plate separate. Other than that everything else is great!!!

UPDATE: I received this vacuum on 1/21/22 and used it for the first time tonight (1/28/22). AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL! I attempted to use it for my 10x12 dining room wood laminate floor. Epic fail. This thing has no strong power. I used both the bare floor setting and the carpet setting - neither impressed me. After all of the positive reviews, I had such high expectations. What a letdown. I had to make multiple passes over all areas of the floor and still had to use another vacuum to get the job done. It’s only been a week since I vacuumed my floor so, it wasn’t so dirty that I should’ve had to make multiple passes with this hunk a junk or have to use a second vacuum to take care of a simple bare floor. I’m just disappointed. I’m very happy that so many buyers love it. I did not and I own other Shark products. I already started the return process. The vacuum is packaged just as it was when I received it. As soon as our snowstorm passes, I’ll be anxiously returning this Shark. I’m coming to the conclusion that new Shark products are high priced and low quality. I will not purchase any other Shark products in the future. My search begins - again - for a new vacuum for my hard floors. Shark, you’ve lost a customer. Note: I have NOT used the vacuum yet. I just returned a different corded stick vacuum that I purchased because I wasn’t pleased with it and decided it to “stick with what I know” (I own other Shark vacuums), spend the extra money and purchase a Shark corded vacuum. I don’t care about cordless features because I don’t want to worry about charging the vacuum and still having limited time to use it before needing to recharge. I chose the Shark HV322 Rocket Pet Plus Corded Vacuum. I have a dog and a houseful of people so I thought this would be perfect. Upon delivery by Amazon, I brought the package in and began to unpackage so that I could give my new purchase a try. The first thing I noticed is that the outermost brown cardboard packaging that the vacuum arrived in was from Shark. It had the correct model number (see photo) but said Shark Rocket Ultra Light Upright Vacuum as the description. This raised flag #1. I removed the actual product box from the outer packaging and that description matched what I thought I purchased and received (see photo). Upon taking the vacuum parts out of the box, I then noticed that the Owners Guide said Shark Rocket Series HV320. I know that it’s not uncommon for an owners guide to have multiple model numbers in one guide. I continued removing the parts and noticed that the main vacuum head makes no mention of being Pet Plus. That says Rocket Deluxe Pro (see photo). Clearly, I have no idea if I received what I purchased. This is NOT the fault of Amazon. This is 100% the fault of Shark! I have owned 3 other Shark products. My first 2 were great and well worth every penny spent. My other current Shark vacuum is lackluster at best but I’m making it work because I can’t return it to Target (it’s only 1 month old) and I’ve thrown away the packaging. The quality of Shark products seems to have decreased while the pricing is definitely increasing. Shark should be ashamed of themselves for selling products that don’t match what their packaging says. As I said, I have not used the vacuum yet as I was too annoyed that I’m not sure if I received what I was supposed to. I’ll update after I’ve actually used whatever this corded vacuum is. Im going to post this review on Shark’s website as well to alert all buyers. I’m no longer sure that I’ll invest or recommend any Shark products.

My only complain is that I can’t stand it up without leaning it on something. It comes with a wall mount, but that’s not ideal. Still a great vacuum for the price, I use it almost everyday since we have multiple cats.

We upgraded after the previpus version but the dust. This vacuum has lights so you can see any dirt that natural light misses. The only thing I don’t like is that the cord is much shorter than the previous model.
