I use two of these monitors daily at work for CAD work as well as programming machines. The screens provide crisp images of what I am working on. I enjoy viewsonic screens more then any brand. Viewsonic is easy to work with as well. Last year one of my monitors that I purchased from Amazon developed some dead pixels. All I needed to do was contact viewsonic, email pics of the issue I was having and I was told to send it to them and they would take care of it. A few days later a brand new replacement monitor arrived at my place of work. Very happy with their customer service. Viewsonic monitors have a 3 year warranty period, I had owned the monitor for two and a half years. Will continue to buy viewsonic monitors, once you pick one up and use them on a daily basis as I do, you will notice how inferior other monitors are compared to viewsonic.

I purchased this monitor after reading a lot of reviews, agree with many reviewers that this monitor is capable of frying your retinas right out of the box. I did spend a considerable amount of time fiddling around with the adjustments, and managed to tone the brightness down considerably. I am still trying to dial it in, and as of now everything appears to have a slight blue tint to it. It will take some time to dial it in to my liking i suppose, but for now it works. For the price I paid, I cant be expecting perfection, after all. I use it for gaming and web browsing only, and it performs well enough for those activities. I cannot justify spending hundreds of dollars for a gaming monitor, as I just dont have the extra cash to spend on those kind of things.

Given the high number of these monitors sold and the high ratings, I was expecting the installation to be quick and flawless. That wasnt my experience. setting it up and connecting the cables was no problem. There is an installation sheet that shows how to do it. Then comes the CD. After inserting it and hearing it spin up I expected something to come up on the screen that would walk me through the installation, settings and registration. Not so. I had to go to my Computer and find the CD, open it and look at each file separately. When it came to installing drivers, I was sent to a 3rd party software to get updates and drivers at a cost for 6 months for $30.00. I didnt pay the $30.00 so Im not sure I have all I need to optimally run this monitor. I crawled through half dozen files and PDFs and sorted out what I thought I needed and what I didnt. Its a pain in the neck to register it. There are links that dont work and at least 3 different methods to register it including an address to snail mail a form you print out. For a technology company, this whole process is like out of the dark ages. While the monitor actually operated well from the moment I powered it up. Im still questioning whether there are drivers out there that would make it even better. For now, I cant complain about what I see, its very crisp and colorful. Im pleased with the built in speakers since there are two less items on the desk, and I dont have to turn them off or on. There is a Users guide in the form of a PDF on the CD which you can copy to your desktop. Its actually your key to setting up and using the monitor.

I recently started downsizing from a Mac Pro to a Mac Mini and available ports are a concern so my 27 Apple Cinema Display had to go. With so many models and so many gripes, the selection seemed to be a no-win headache. This actually fit the criteria - hdmi, integrated speakers, size, IPS or near, relatively inexpensive, and decent response rate. Its hard to make comparisons with the Cinema display but I thought I wanted IPS. The vertical viewing angle on this seemed to be similar to an IPS screen. The horizontal viewing angle is smaller and dims when you are past the +/-45 degrees of center. Its not much of an issue as a computer monitor. The glow of the backlight at the bottom is noticeable but not much. I seem to have lucked out with no dead pixels that I can see. I wasnt expecting much of the speakers other than that they work. The hdmi and integrated speakers make for a tidy setup. The monitor can be tilted but the best adjustment is the stack of books or boxes to bring the monitor to the right height. I had bought a similar model for my brother and had the hardest time adjusting the contrast and brightness for him until I realized the contrast and brightness were swapped. Maybe its a tomato/tomatoe type thing but contrast actually controls the brightness of the display and this model is no different. As I started adjusting the display for the settings that tomcat9 listed, I remembered the quirk about the contrast and brightness. I finally settled on contrast of 60 and brightness of 100. It still wasnt quite right so I pulled up the color profile in the Mac Mini and it had selected HD-709A. I tried the calibration and the biggest difference came with the gamma adjustment to 2.2. Everything seems to be good now. I havent tried out the response rate yet but I think it will live up to its billing. It is a light display but at this price, I dont think you should expect an aluminum case.

This is my first time buying a separate monitor for my laptop. Its wonderful having a great big screen, where I can easily put two documents side-by-side (like a source document and my notes document when I do research) and see them both easily without my reading glasses. As for the resolution, Ive been spoiled by the incredibly high resolution on my new MacBook Pro, so the this screen is a step down, but still very good. I sometimes wish it could get a teensy bit brighter. Also the sound quality, though it might be better than most monitors (I dont know) is still not that great--far inferior to my little Bose stereo that I hook up my phone to. And its several clicks on different buttons to increase or decrease volume, so its a nuisance for listening to music, but fine for, say, watching a short video clip or videoconferencing. By the way, for videoconferencing I had to buy a separate camera. But I dont know of any monitors that have the camera built in, so thats life.

This screen is lightweight, easy to move for best viewing position, and works with my MAC. The color quality may not be as good as my MAC monitor, but it is much less expensive.

Ive owned ViewSonic monitors before and have always liked the quality. I purchased this particular monitor for use on my workbench due to its variety of inputs. Most any PC that I work on will connect to this monitor without adapters. The enclosed speakers eliminate the need for separate external speakers. I only wish the speakers were a little higher watt.

I was really torn reading all the mixed reviews, but I got greedy wanting the best features for a low price. So heres the scoop... Lets start with video playback. I loaded a 1080p copy of a pixar film and it was drop dead gorgeous, and the viewing angel is amazingly clear at wide angles! I could not test the 4k because my pc does not output 4k.. ok, now for the negatives. 2ms response time leaves bright yellow trails on fast moving items in games. I HAD to turn it back to 5ms for good looking gameplay. The only possible use of the 2ms response use might be in an audio recording rig. The picture quality does take tinkering, but even after dialing it in theres ever so slight of an overexposed brightness, and the right edge of the screen has a hint of grey fade but you REALLY have to have a good eye to see these 2 flaws, still yet they do exist. The stand... omg this stand.. I hate this peg-post single screw stand. Yes it tilts, but even as I write this review each keypress can be seen in a jiggle of the monitor, very distracting. Almost immediatly wanted to box it back up. This monitor WILL reqire an aftermarket stand, bracket, or wall mount. Oh, and keep those desktop speakers handy. You will be using them instead of these that are built in. Overall I have already got my return label, and will give it the remainder of 30 days before deciding if I want to buy a stand, and live with the slight overexposure. The only reason its not already in the box is because video looks sooo good on it. I do feel a bit fooled by the price though as Ill have to buy a stand, and Ill never see the advantage of the 2ms response time. If I return it Ill be looking for something with 5ms, no built in speakers, no 4k. Maybe given those criteria I can save a further $40. Pros Gorgeous Video! All input types/cables included (no HDMI cable) Accessible buttons, and you CAN force the power light off Screen does tilt back a bit Can be returned within 30 days Cons The included stand is a total fail, no support 2ms response time unusable in games/daily use Very, very, slight overexposure remains after tweeking also a very light grey fade along the right edge of screen

I was disappointed that the monitor did not come with HDMI cables. When using these monitors with a laptop, most docking stations offer HDMI connection, some offer PC VGA connection, but none offer DVI connection. I know that DVI and HDMI are essentially the same except DVI does not include sound. Manufacturer should include HDMI cables for a more universal connection method. Picture quality is good, but the settings screens are cumbersome to use, and you have to be careful which buttons you push, or the monitor will disconnect from the docking station and have to reconnect itself.
