The unit came wrapped in a protective plastic that when we took it off left a big sticky mess all over the unit that does not come off.

I own a BenQ projector that I bought 6-7 years back which still works great. Decided to upgrade to a 4K projector and chose this. The picture quality was Amazing. It was a natural progression from 1080P to 4K - till it lasted. As some have observed, the projector stopped working after a few movies. Except for the Green power light blinking and turning on, the projector is basically dead. No sound (of the fan), no light. Hope BenQ finds the issue and fixes it so future customers dont have to go through this...

For some reason i wasnt able to Ask a Question? but just received my ht3550 which is replacing an old Mitsubishi 720p projector, ceiling mounted with a 100 screen (pretty common 4x8) that are 14ft apart. Im testing with it and it looks like I am not able to re-use the Mitsu mount as the image jumps to 150. I checked the specs before buying and it said it supported zoom (and every projector Ive seen supports zoom-in/zoom-out)?. To now get a 100 screen i have to move the projector from being out of sight (back wall) to center of room, just 9ft from the screen? I am somewhat shocked that this Projector does not have Optical Zoom out capability. Maybe there is some kind of menu driven digital zoom/out? The Projector Central site shows it has Telephoto which only changes the screen distance a foot and a half. Should have done more digging, maybe a different projector now..

I am floored with the image put out by this thing in 4K. Even 11080p material looks great on it. HDR is just amazing when watching thru Youtube. Great value in the new 4k projector space.

BENQ delivers as expected. I bought this to replace my 12 year old Epson Cinema HD projector after the internal board went bad (known issue). Mounting this can be a big pain because the BENQ has hump on it where as most projects are flat where the mounting brackets go. I was able to use my 12 year old mounting bracket by some adjustments. First I added some foam on hump and got bigger screws (M4) to make the bracket connection. The foam was used to prevent scratches and dents, and to get the bracket and screw in. The other two screws on the flat areas were simple to get in with no modifications needed. Also I preferred to use my old bracket as it was measured for my 120inch screen. The only other work was running a 4K HDMI cable around 30 Feet as there was no 4K 12 years ago. Also had to get a new receiver and a few more cables for other media devices. Now the setup once powered on was pain. BENQ should of made this simple but one has to play with this setting plus the remote etc. Finally after an hour of moving the project in X direction and playing with remote plus the lens on the project I got everything adjusted to my 120 inch screen. Since I am not using this for gaming I cannot rate that.

So happy with the colors, clarity and detail in the images. 4K images are stunning but even old movies look great. Still have it on a table but hope to hang from ceiling. We researched many options and we are thrilled with our choice.

Powers on. Orange light goes to green flashing. Then steady. Annnndddd..... nothing. No light, no engine, no sound. And.... No manual, just a quick start guide. So no clue as to whats happening. First projector experience. Did a lot of research. What a bust. Ill call them during work hours, but seems like i got a $1500 lemon out of the box. Unless the lamp takes hours to warm up. Days later - So they haven’t Sent a replacement and I’m 1400 out of pocket. The lemon shipped at a cost of $25 to me last week. I was told they wouldn’t wait to ship replacement

So we purchased this and got a dead pixel a few months later. We sent it back on RMA and got it back a couple weeks later. It worked for about a week and then a different pixel went dead. We tried to just love with it, but then a 3rd dead pixel. We just sent it back off today. The Epson we had never had an issue for 5 years, this has already been repairs twice and still getting dead pixels. I was very hopeful because of the good review, but if you have to send it in every 3-4 months, it really isnt a good deal. I hope they give us back a good one.
