> 3 dayWater Heater anode rod needs to be replaced every six months if using your RV regularly. A fellow RVer advised me of this. I had never replaced the anode and when I did it was more or less completely disintegrated. Replacing it every six months will prolong the life of your water heater and your soft water filter will stay cleaner longer too.

> 3 dayAluminum anode rods are recommended for hard water applications and magnesium anode rods for water with little or no mineral content.

> 3 dayAnode Rods are standard equipment on house water heaters, except that they are very long and usually made out of zinc because the house water heater is made out of steel. Magnesium Anode Rods are for water heaters made out of aluminum like Atwood Heaters. The anode rods will help you get maximum life out of your RV water heater, and seeing that a replacement water heater is $6-700.00 not including installation and install materials, it is a small price to pay to put off the inevitable for as long as possible. Anode rods are especially important if you are living/camping full-time in a RV where the water heater is filled and used constantly.

> 3 dayThis rod is super short. It replaced a rod that was the length of my entire water heater, about 4 feet. I dont know if this will hold up as well but it went in easy and looks like a fine quality. I will update this review in a year when I replace it.

> 3 dayA previous owner, or maybe even the factory when it was made, didnt put an anode rod. It was just a plug. The anode rod fit the threads just fine. I will know how well it works after its been in there a long time.

Greater than one weekI have not yet installed. Will install in a couple months. Hard to rate. The products self destructs like its designed to do. Thats its only purpose- to keep the steel water tank from being eaten away.
