I bought this Eureka canister vac after struggling with a standing Bissell for years. While the Bissell seems well-equipped for carpets, it (to my frustration) blew dog hair around on our hard floors, and tossed back out bits and crumbs instead of actually sucking them up. My parents recommended a canister vac for hard floors, so I decided to try this one as it was low cost and I could return it through Amazon should it not work out. Thankfully, after unboxing and using it to vacuum all of our hard floors today, I am pleased beyond belief that it indeed sucks up pet hair (the bane of my existence) with ease. It is also small and light. The dust cup is easy to empty after use, and it is satisfying to see all its sucked up in one go. I came across a wad of threads from a rope toy my dogs play with, and the Eureka sucked it right up, and I saw it immediately in the dust cup with the rest of the debris it had collected. Our Bissell could never. The swiveling head is convenient for getting into spaces our Bissell couldnt reach. The retractable cord is a blessing, though I wouldnt have minded the cord being a bit longer -- but it isnt a hardship to plug it into a different outlet as I go. It also seems a bit quieter than our Bissell. The on/off button is easy to tap with my foot, though you want to press it all the way, or else it will only start to come on or off but return back to its previous setting when you release the button. This is not a problem though, more of a tip to press it firmly enough for it to register. The Eureka has the best qualities of my parents old canister vacuum and the newer style vacuums, in that it is excellent at picking up hair and debris on hard floors, but is also less cumbersome and bagless. One feature of many canister vacs that deterred me was their needing bag refills. With the Eureka, thats not an issue! Overall I would recommend the Eureka to others with hard floors who struggle with pet hair. Our dogs shed year-round, and their fur is by far the biggest obstacle I have faced in vacuuming our floors. This vac makes eliminating dog hair easy. It does the simple task I ask of a vacuum: to suck up dust, fur and crumbs from the hard floors. Since I have only used this vac once, I will keep my eyes peeled for issues in the future. I am hopeful that it will stay a reliable cleaning tool for years to come.

Great, not too loud, does a good job! Only down is the vent part on the handle should be more hard to move. I keep hitting it with my hand, and cord could be longer

I have been using this vacuum cleaner for nearly a year now, and overall, I have mixed feelings about its performance. While it boasts some excellent features, I have encountered consistent issues with its suction power that prevent me from giving it a higher rating. The he main drawback lies in the suction power, which has been underwhelming from the beginning. Despite following all the maintenance instructions and regularly cleaning the filters, I find that the vacuum struggles to pick up debris efficiently, especially larger particles like pet hair or crumbs. It often requires multiple passes over the same area to achieve satisfactory results, which can be time-consuming and frustrating. I have also noticed a decline in suction strength over time. While the vacuum initially performed adequately, its effectiveness seems to have diminished gradually. This issue persists even after checking for clogs and ensuring that all components are properly assembled. Its disappointing to have to deal with subpar suction, as this is one of the most crucial aspects of any vacuum cleaner.

    Greater than one week

Very good suction (pet-free household), works well on hard and carpeted floors, super easy to clean, loving the in-built brush to reach narrow spaces, optimal cord length (can do a large room without reconnecting). Key drawback- wobbly attachment of the wand/tube, doesn’t sit tight, gets disconnected easily (you can work around it, but the design could certainly be improved).

Am I right? Well, it’s what my wife wanted, and we’ve loved it so far. Great vac. It’s sucks up all the dirt. Gotta be careful around our mini long haired chi. Almost got him stuck in the canister…. That last part was a joke. Enjoy your vacuum cleaner.

For years now I’ve been killing upright bag/ then bagless vacuums every 12-18 months. For context I have terribly expired carpet and two long haired cats. I’ve tried everything, every brand, but eventually they all bite the dust around the same time. I decided the try out a canister vac because I grew up with this style in the 80s and I thought that the lack of rotating brush might make a big difference. Boy was I right! First off this vac is easy to carry around and maneuver - no more lugging and pushing. Also - it gets into spaces the upright could never reach. What about the cat hair you may ask? With no rotating brush how does it do with that? It picks it up! And then any extra that gets stuck on the pads on the bottom - I flip it - pull it off and into the tube it’s sucked away. Easy clean up. No hacking at the rotating brush with scissors cutting hair off. The carpet looks amazing. I actually want to vacuum again. The retractable cord is quick and does not get caught up yet. Easy to dump the canister and keep going. Lightweight and flexible. I’m never going back to an upright again. If this one dies - I’ll update you and I’ll be investing in a nicer canister vacuum. Even though we grew up fairly modest there was reason my Mom had an expensive canister vacuum- it just took me till my mid-40s to figure it out! This is a great investment for a first time canister vacuum. So far so good!

This is the second time we’ve purchased this vacuum. We have 2 giant long haired dogs that shed all year long. This vacuum has handled their mess better than any other we’ve tried (and I’ve tried all the expensive name brands). It’s easy to clean and works great. I don’t have anything negative to say about the vacuum.

I fought my wife in getting this vacuum. We already have a shark duo which does hardwood and carpet. Plus, we have a large push duster for the fine particles for hardwood floor. We have all hardwood throughout the entire house, dusting on a regular basis is pretty much every weekend job. Weve owned a Kirby, which I really like but they are bulky and heavy and its a pain changing out the attachments no matter how quick and simple it may seem. The one thing though is that the Kirby had great suction. Sadly, the wife hated it, and my sole defense of the great vacuum wasnt enough to save it from the Goodwill pile. So, we got the Shark Duo, which I also love has great cleaning power great on hardwood, tile, and carpet. When we moved into our new home which is 100% hardwood throughout my wife thought the shark wasnt getting the fine particles. We got new rollers for it and I thought it worked great. But sadly she wanted something that really could get between the grooves. So, she bought this Eureka Whirlwind which I thought was a waste and wouldnt be that great. Especially for the price she paid. After the first few days, I was amazed. This really has very strong suction and has a hard bristle which is very effective in getting things that are harder to vacuum up but without scratching the wood floor. I had some drywall work and typically none of the vacuums have really handled the drywall dust all that well. This little thing did a great job. My only complaint is that the filter seems a little flimsy, but it says its washable. Which we tested and it held up under the sink getting washed out. If youre vacuuming really fine particles, youll need to clean the filter more often as that will affect how strong a suction youll get. After a while it started making a slight whrip sound at start up, but I think it was due to the dry wall dust. After cleaning it really good it quit making that whrip sound at start up. The auto cord rewind is a great feature, and the big rear wheel really does make it easy to maneuver. Stair vacuuming is a cinch with this little thing. I do wish the hose was just a little bit longer, may be another 5 feet or so. I cant say enough great things about this vacuum for hardwood floors. Very impressed. I hope this helps anyone thinking about this little vacuum.
