Greater than one weekThis is a fantastic scrubber. I will let any reader know very specifics about this scrubber. I previously owned the scrub master older version from about 4 yrs ago. The brushes stopped spinning and I needed a new one. I chose this scrubber because of the price, it came with alot of attachments in their own bag, and because its hoover. I believe hands down hoover is the best. Anyway. I chose this one as my new scrubber. BIG DIFFERENCE! My last hoover was way heavier than this one even before adding water. Also, my old one was longer in the front, making it awkward to carry because all the weight was hanging in the front. This scrubber is nice and compact. Shorter, lighter, and not as wide. Big wheels and short front make it very easy to turn, where my old one was harder. I always bumped stuff. Startup: cord is decent. I wouldnt say short its about average. this scrubber is very quiet. I actually think its quieter than my vacuum slightly. My old one was super duper loud I didnt even want kids downstairs it was so loud. This one is like a vacuum but you can immediately hear the power. The brushes scrubbed so well I could feel the brush vibration sometimes from how powerful. take others advice, rinse wash rinse. Rinse gets your carpet damp enough to work with the soap and move with the brushes easier when you wash. Im 8 months pregnant and can handle this machine so well. Does not strain me to use, and I can actually carry it. Tanks: two tank system plus other compartment for solution, perfection! They are slightly smaller tanks than the scrub master, but Im fine with that because the machine isnt as bulky or heavy. If you ever owned a huge scrubber, you would appreciate the lighter weight, but its not too light. The $89 Bissell classic model, is alot smaller than this machine (for comparison). So I love the size. What took only one tank on my old take just a little over one for each step (rinse step rinse) but honestly I dont care if rather refill than drag a huge machine. Result: my carpets are very clean now. Even spray! The powerful brushes fluffed up my carpet way better than my old machine. Oh my. So soft to walk on and the high traffic area that was crushed down I could barely get up with my old machine, is so fluffed now! So better performance, shocking for a smaller machine. Cleanup: Advanced! If you have ever seen someone elses scrubber, the front window where the water and dirt is sucked up is always disgusting! My old machine came with a thin tool to scrape some gunk out, but I lost it and over time the hair and dirt just collected in it. No way to take this part apart on any machine to clean it. Its sealed and screwed down. On this scrubber, you can actually take it off and clean it! What!? With a V shape it isnt holding a ton of dirt, and the hose attachment flap is in the center so you can rinse the whole inside of this piece. This is a huge plus, people. You can clean everything on this machine spotless when you are done. Please do clean after every use, it only took me ten minutes but it prolongs the life of all scrubbers. I used and cleaned it and it looks brand new, cant even tell I used it. Anyone who owns a scrubber knows how amazing that is. I have struggled with my old one trying to get it clean but never could get that front part clean enough. Gross. Final thought: LOVR THIS MACHINE. Im sorry some other people had trouble, it happens with some products not every one is perfect. This machine didnt leak like my other one, light, and very powerful. I know scrubbers, and this is top knotch! And for $130? Are you kidding!? Fantastic. If you have very tough stains I buy carpet spray spot cleaner and pretreat sometimes, which who cares I understand some stains depending what it is can be hard. But this scrubber is top of the line. Trust me. Why spend more money? Get this machine.

> 3 dayI have NEVER left a positive review for a vacuum or shampooer… well here we go. This thing is unbelievable… it distributes shampoo evenly and it truly does… as much water that you put into your carpet will come back up through the shampooer and you can clearly see it’s black and I have OCD lol to my surprise it was not light… now when I shampoo it’s light… it’s easy to move… the tanks are massive which is nice I don’t have to change or get water every 10 minutes… literally if it broke I would still buy it again

> 3 dayEasy to use, cleans very well. My two complaints are the float valve constantly closes, with the slightest bump, forcing you to shut it off until the float opens up. Super annoying as it also doesn’t allow the tank to fill fully. Second, the handle latch and on off switch are smooth plastic, making your foot slip off them when using, especially on wet carpet, also super annoying.

> 3 dayI have carpet that’s really brand new, only six months old, but because it’s very light, it took stains quickly, even though I had people takeoff their shoes. I couldn’t find a carpet cleaner who would work Highup on a penthouse, so I decided to just buy one and see how it went. I figured I could return it if it didn’t actually work. That’s the thing I like about Amazon. I think the picture speaks for itself. The carpets were badly soiled and you can see on the middle strip where I cleaned only one side, that the clean side is almost like brand new. I’ve never written a review before, but I’m motivated to do this, because it worked beyond my expectations

Greater than one weekHaving owned a Bissell for 10 years, it finally crashed, and the search to replace was on. Visited Costco and they had another Bissell, but after looking it over, just wasn’t impressed with the changes made on the newest model. An internet search gave two choices – Hoover or Bissell. Hoover had the top 4 models, and after seeing what Bissell was selling, went for Hoover. Guess what, Hoover has a dozen different models. After reading a 100+ reviews on various models, I Chose the FH50150 (#3 on the list). And could not be happier. Pro’s: Easy assembly. Each tank slips-in, or locks in-place without having to force it – just take your time; access to tanks – excellent. No belt drive for brushes and they clean better than a roller bar since they scrub in multiple directions. Waste water container is separate. Rinse option – big plus. No hoses or attachments connected, only connect when needed – this too is a big plus as attachments get in the way when cleaning the carpet. Dis-assembly for cleaning is easy. Con’s: Power cord too short, could use another 5 feet, 10 feet would be better. Cleaner mix is preset. Having used multiple machines, degrees in cleaning carpet are all about the same on the surface. However, brushes scrub deeper, in multiple directions, and fluff up the pile better; this also loosens the fibers better for cleaning and allows more water to be sucked out – which reduces drying time. You can feel the difference when walking barefoot on the carpet – softer. If you haven’t cleaned your carpet in years and its really bad – call a professional Steam cleaner, or you will be there all day just to clean. This is not to say that the Hoover can’t do the job, but it is made to maintain, and if used regularly will keep carpet clean and fresh – will never need to call Stanley again. First time Carpet Cleaning techniques: First, pre-vacuum Slowly and in multiple directions. A good vacuum will pull up all the hair, dust, loose dirt, and open the carpet fibers for cleaning – if done correctly you won’t muck-up the carpet cleaner brushes with hair and loose fiber when you wash carpet. Second, use boiling hot water, pour into fill tank (it can take it), select rinse only, apply water while pushing slowly forward and then apply water while slowly pulling back over the same area. Slow is the key. One tank will do an 8 x 8 area, and take about 3-5 minutes. After initial rinse – repeat entire process with the second pass in a different direction. This loosens the fibers, gets out a ton of dirt, and prepares the fibers for cleaning. Next, add cleaner to tank (don’t fill to top). Continue using boiling hot water. Select wash and First apply while pushing slowly. Note: when pulling, the vacuum will suck up the soapy water as soon as you put it down, you need to give the soap an opportunity to get in there and clean. Then continue applying wash while pulling back over same area – you can pull back a little faster. After fill tank is empty, go over area again. This allows brushes to work fibers and remove excess water, you can also do this step a little faster. Move on to next section of carpet and repeat till room is washed. If you have light colored carpets, may want to do this whole wash process twice. Now its time to rinse the Carpet. First, empty out any cleaner in the fill tank, the selector may leak a little. Next, fill with Boiling hot water. Select rinse, and apply water while Pulling back only, and do this slowly. Then push forward over the same area to suck up any remaining water and dirt, Do Not Apply Water. Continue. If you are getting a lot of suds in the waste bucket, may need to rinse area again – recommend rinse area twice. After final rinsing, here is a technique. Do another rinse, only this time add about 2 tbl spoons of Downy fabric softener to the water (can use cold, but recommend hot). Use the same rinse technique and apply – this can go a little faster. Leaves a clean fresh smell. Allow carpet to dry, then vacuum. You will notice carpet is significantly softer. Average bedroom takes about an hour, living rooms about 3-4. If you have established dirt paths in your carpet, go over area 4-5 times, and always overlap. Don’t be discouraged after a dozen passes and you are still sucking up dirty water, it’s just the way it is. The key is Hot Water, and go slow. If dirt comes back around old stains after a couple of weeks, most likely too much soap was used and not rinsed out. Hot water rinse with the machine will usually take care of it, this also works well for new pet stains. Have had good success Using Platinum Plus for pets for cleaning stains. If you have a lot of pets, mixing a ¼ to ½ cup of vinegar in the final rinse works. However, it takes a while for the vinegar to evaporate, especially in humid regions, and this may affect the carpet, and this may strip out anti-stain in the carpet – test first. For stains that won’t come out – a weak bleach solution – suggest “Clorox Cleanup”, sprayed on the area and lightly scrubbed in with a wet rag works well. Allow to sit for a minute, use the hot water rinse and go over about 3 times. Repeat until stain is gone – also, overspray around stain to “Blend out” the bleaching process or you will have a white spot (do a little at a time and you will be all right). Last words on the Hoover. Dis-assembly for cleaning is simple and easy. Wash everything, be sure to clean black filter screen in waste water tank, allow all to dry, assemble and put away. If vacuum isn’t working while in use, dump waste water and try again. Sometimes just taking waste water tank off and re-seating does the trick. If water is too sudsy, will cause yellow float in waste water tank to stop suction – dump out water and rinse lid, or turn off, allow float to drop, and turn back on.

> 3 dayAbout 25 or so years ago, I decided I was going to make some quick money by getting into the carpet cleaning business so I bought some heavy duty equipment; an Electrolux Epic Pro scrubber, Riccar upright vacuum and a Bissell Mean Green machine to use an an extractor. I never made any money, much less quick money, but I have had that equipment with me ever since and it still works as well today as when it was bought. It has been used, borrowed, abused and used some more. I decided I needed a new machine, an all-in-one, because I got tired of lugging everything out, dragging hoses, cords, spot cleaners and so on to clean a small area. So I researched, and researched, and researched some more and decided to buy a Bissell Big Green Commercial unit. As I began to order it, the thought of spending $400 on a giant 50 lb machine I have to drag out every time I need to clean a spot seemed to go against what I was trying to do. Then it dawned on me, Oh yeah, I have an upstairs.. Nope. Im not dragging that thing around. Then there are the times when it will be borrowed and I will have to lift it, load it, unload it, etc. So I backed out. I decided on the Hoover Scrub Deluxe based on reviews and ordered it through Amazon. Amazingly it arrived one day early on the two day shipping. Thanks Amazon or UPS or whomever is responsible. Anyway, here are my thoughts on it. Just so you know, I have high pile carpets so this machine is already at a bit of a disadvantage. Im going to start with cons: *The handle is not that robust and cheaply attached. Use caution not to put undue lateral pressure on it to force the machine around. It works fine for back-and-forth motion. *The gasket on the bottom of the fresh water tank is cheap. It leaks. It will wear out rapidly. Go ahead and order a couple and keep them on hand. *The solution and fresh water fill ports are identical. The identifiers are molded into the plastic and easy to overlook. Grab some markers and label them. *The tanks are small and go through water quickly. Just cleaning the main walkways in a small room necessitated about three fill-ups and dumps. BTW, remember the cheap gasket? Since you have to remove the water tank to fill it up so many times, it leaks momentarily every time you reinstall it but mine sealed off eventually after each tank install. It might be better to set the water tank on the machine so the fill tank doesnt leak and then just fill it in place with a gallon jug or something. * The cord is short. Im assuming the big companies must T&E folks with tiny houses because cords on home appliances are always too short. Just grab a 6 extension cord as thats about how much more you need. One other thing, and if it wasnt for the fact I have to box and ship the machine this *might* be deal breaker as it bothers me that much, the cord is routed through the bottom of the machine so you will run over it constantly. Yeah, there is a holding clip on the handle but now the cord is about 2 shorter so Im having to whip the cord like a cowboy lassoing a calf to keep it out from under the wheels. Come on Hoover, or China or whatever. Stop that crap. *The scrub brush. Im pretty sure they just stuck that thing on there to say it has one. It freely floats about 2 with very little down pressure and the bristles are fine and soft. What the heck is that thing for anyway? Its darn sure not scrubbing anything. Its probably better to just take it off as its just in the way. Okay, so now the pros: Now, you might think from what I listed above that I hate this machine. Actually I was somewhat impressed with it. Im not sure how it cleans with that crappy little scrub brush but it looked like I was pulling chocolate milk out of my carpets. I regularly vacuum and just did some carpet cleaning about a week ago so I was a little disgusted. This little machine is phenomenal when it comes to spraying and suction and this is where it shines. Its not a carpet scrubber. You would need to buy a dedicated unit for that job. This is an extractor and a darn good one. I used the Hoover soap solution that was included but as soon as I opened the container, I wasnt a fan of the soapy smell. I went ahead and mixed up a 1/2 soap 1/2 water mix on the solution side (and eventually went to 1/3 soap 2/3 water) but started cleaning the carpet with straight ol hot tap water. In case youre wondering, the tank is split with a rinse side for straight water and a wash side for water soap mix. I did a standard rinse pushing forward, extract pulling back and was amazed at how well it worked. Just using hot tap water worked as well as the solution but I went ahead and injected a little Hoover soap into the carpet. Its not so bad when greatly diluted so no headaches. Most of the carpets were okay enough to walk on with bare feet within about 30 minutes, although not dry. Im writing this within an hour of finishing the cleaning so they are still damp. I figure a few hours and we will be good to go. So, what do you get for $140? Well, you get a China-plastic machine with upholstery attachments that has small tanks, leaks a little right out of the box and has a useless scrub brush but somehow still cleans carpets pretty well. I think its a little overpriced for what it is but for small rooms and spot cleaning it should be worth it if the longevity is there. If you really want to make your carpets clean, in this price range I think you would be hard pressed to find a unit with better spraying and suction short of buying a heavy-duty commercial unit. Just buy an actual carpet scrubber with real nap lifters in conjunction with the Hoover. Vacuum really well, then scrub your carpet, extract using hot water with the Hoover then, if you have high pile or plush carpets, go back over your carpet with the nap lifters. It will look brand new again.

> 3 dayLove, love, love this carpet cleaner! Does an outstanding job on my apartment carpets. I even used it on my apartment complex hallway carpet and stairs, which were filthy. Looks like new now! Lightweight, easy to use, easy to clean. Uses very little water and definitely sucks up what is sprayed onto carpet. Carpet dries withi 20 min. Have used it for two years. No issues.

> 3 dayIve used a handful of home carpet shampooers and a professional one rented from the grocery store and this one is by far my favorite. WEIGHT This is the lightest shampooer Ive used which makes pushing it around the whole house a breeze and much easier on my hands and back. Very easy to maneuver. WATER TANK The water tank holds about a gallon of water plus cleaning solution which is not a lot so Im frequently emptying and refilling the tanks, but this helps to keep the weight down so I dont have a problem with it. I really appreciate that when emptying the dirty tank you can choose to pour the dirty water out through a spout instead of taking the whole lid off. I didnt know how much I would like this feature until I tried it! No splashing mucky water everywhere! Both the water and solution entry areas are easily accessible. CLEANING POWER I have two boys who have an amazing ability to get everything dirty and a cat who likes to barf on the floor. My carpets are very old and get REALLY dirty. Its also been a long time since Ive had access to a carpet shampooer. Pictured is a high traffic area with some bonus cat barf on it and after one pass through it was so much cleaner! I have used a shampooer that did a little better cleaning on the first pass, but it was heavy, leaked, it was hard to clean, left the floors too wet, etc. For super dirty areas I go over the carpet twice and Im very happy with the results. It also left the carpet so fluffy. After going over the carpet 2-4 times on dry mode (not spraying water) the carpets were almost dry, which is a huge plus. I cant keep people/pets off the carpets for long around here so this is great. ATTACHMENTS It comes with a hose, an upholstery attachment, a stair attachment, an edge cleaner and an attachment with a spinning brush. The hose is super simple to attach to the machine. Ive seen some reviewers that didnt like the spinning brush attachment, but I love it. The first stair in my house is where everyone sits to put on and take off their shoes so it gets really dirty and the spinning brush scrubbed that sucker so clean. CLEANING THE VACUUM Anything on here that touches dirty water is amazingly easy to remove and clean! The brushes pull right off, the part on the front that sucks the water up lifts off easily after lifting a lever, which in turns exposes the filter, and the dirty tank opens all the way to get it clean. No hidden hoses or tight areas. This is huge for me. I have used a shampooer that was nearly impossible to clean and half my time was spent cleaning the carpet where the shampooer made it DIRTIER. Or trying to reach in with tweezers to get out a clump of cat fur that was stopping up the machine. Ugh. Because its so easy to clean I am much more likely to clean it after using it, which will extend the life of the shampooer. This is a big deal and this machine excels in this area. I wish my regular vacuum was this easy to clean! POWER CORD Its pretty short. Prepare to either use an extension cord or regularly plug it into a closer outlet as you move around. Either solution is not a big deal. NOISE Naturally, its a little loud. But not as loud as most of the ones Ive used - the one from the grocery store was so screaming loud I had to use ear plugs because my ears hurt after just a couple minutes. When I use it I pop in some ear plugs and listen to a podcast and everything is fine. TL;DR Buy this machine. Its lightweight, a joy to use and so easy to clean. Its easy to assemble out of the box (just two screws in the handle) and works well. Highly recommended. Seriously, stop looking and just get it. Your carpets and your back will thank you.

> 3 dayI bought this because I was tired of paying carpet cleaners almost the price of this unit for one single visit. We have dogs, and being able to spot clean is important. I thought this would be a useful unit to have. With that said, I didnt want to pay a lot of money for a carpet cleaning unit because I wasnt sure I would use it - and keep on using it. Now Im sure. Ive found that its very useful and I probably have pulled it out ever 3 weeks or so for something. There is something really satisfying about dumping the dirty discharge water down the drain. You really feel like you are making progress on the carpet. However, that can also be a bane because Ive gone over areas of carpet several times and continue to get dirt out of them. Makes me want to just keep on going and going which really isnt practical. You have to decide what clean enough looks like for you and stop at that point. WHERE IT EXCELS: * I think I get my carpet as clean or better than the professionals. Not because it has as much power, but because I use it more thoroughly than a professional might use their equipment. For example, weve had an area of highly tracked carpet that has looked bad for years, even after professional cleaning. I have gone over it 6 times with this unit and it looks far better than it has in years - even after the professional cleanings. I can simply take the time whereas a professional has to move on to another job at some point to make money. If you have time and willingness, Ive found it to be very effective. * It is great for the occasional spill. Seems to clean them up very well. Ive used it on cut berber carpet as well as tightly stitched carpet. Pet stains, wine, and cranberry juice all came out completely. * It is good for over cleaning the highly tracked areas of your carpet. Rather than call in a professional carpet cleaner to do a lot of your house which may not actually need it just so you can get cleaned a highly tracked area, you can focus on just the highly tracked area. AREAS IN WHICH THIS UNIT IS OK: * Its a lot of work to clean your own carpet. The amount of work is proportional to the capacity of the water, solution, and discharge reservoirs. This unit has struck a pretty good balance between those capacities and weight of the unit when full of water. But its still a lot of work. * It takes a long time to do it right. You have to go over every area of carpet minimally at least 8 times. Why? 1) A stroke out and back to lay down the cleaning solution. 2) A stroke out and back to suck up the cleaning solution. 3) A stroke out and back to lay down water only for a rinse. 4) A stroke out and back to suck up the rinse water. 8 times, minimally. Based on my experience though, to really do it right, you will want to rinse at least twice and on the final sucking up of the rinse water, go back and forth a few times, not just once, so the carpet dries more quickly. So to do it right as I see it, you are really covering every square inch of carpet ~14 times. (You have rinse really well or else dirt is attracted to the soap in the cleaner and you quickly end up with dirty carpet again.) And while doing this, you have to keep dumping the dirty water and refilling the reservoir with clean, hot water. It just takes a very long time. CONS: * Mine broke after 4 months. The turbine which spins the brushes quit working. Fortunately, there is a two year warranty and Hoover said it would be covered (in repair as I type this). I talked to the repair shop and they told me to expect to see them regularly because these are built cheaply and the turbines break over and over. IN SUMMARY: If you want a cheap, light carpet cleaner that if you are willing to put in the effort, will clean your carpet well, this seems like a good choice. If you are looking for it to replace professional carpet cleaning, then it will almost certainly pay for itself if you are willing to put in the time and effort. Works well on stains. Strikes a good balance between weight and reservoir capacity. Build quality is suspect, but the warranty is sufficiently long that most people should be able to make it pay for itself many times over vs. paying a professional - as long as you dont mind hauling it to the nearest repair shop every so often. You might do well to go to Hoovers web site and look up the nearest repair shop before you buy this.
