In November 2022 I purchased my 3rd Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe Carpet Cleaner Machine with the 360 degree rotating brushes. I The last 2 cleaners lasted me about 15 years each ! I have severe allergies and clean the carpet at a minimum of every 6 months. (We do not have pets or children any longer) I am in love with this cleaner it is so much lighter and easier to push than my last 2. It is also narrower which makes it easier to maneuver under and around furniture. Yes, other reviews are correct you do have to refill the tanks often but that is because of the decrease in size. The weight and ease of use is definitely worth that small trade off. This cleaner has super sucking power and combined with the force heat air makes for a faster dry time ! I just cant say enough good things about this cleaner. It has a rinse option like my last 2 machines and I will not own one without it. The attachments are awesome they come in a black bag to keep them organized. The one attachment with the rotating brush is super for cleaning the couch, or seats and carpet in your car! I loved it so much that I just ordered one for my son and had it sent to him as a surprise. He has 2 dogs and 2 small children! I also highly recommend the hoover paws liquid cleaner which comes with the machine in a sample size. It has a nice clean scent and is not offensive or a trigger for my allergies. Just remember it is not automatic and does not operate its self, as an example you have to go over the carpet several times to pull the water back out. This is not a paid review just a customer that loves this product!

Had to write this review! We have tried other cleaners, not only is this one the best but also the best value!

My first impression was that this was lighter than most carpet cleaners Ive used, but that does not have an effect on its performance. This shampooer has a very strong suction and is super easy to use. Leaves the carpet just barely wet and the carpet dries very quickly after. Make sure to follow the directions and vacuum first! Also, do a rinse run after you do a shampoo run or the carpet will get stiff. The best for shampooing stairs!

This carpet cleaner has seen things... indescribable things that no one shall see or smell. Ever. We use the carpet cleaner for all over cleans along with larger spots. But let me tell you a story that goes down in history... One day, my brother wanted my son and I to come over for dinner and so he could see his nephew. I told him that I wasn’t really sure my 150lb Pitt/Great Dane mix was feeling that great. She had the runs the night before but it seemed to be drying up. He, naturally being a brother, claimed I was using that weak excuse to get out of coming over. This peer pressure set in. I let my dog out one last time and left. For way too long. Keep in mind, my down stairs all hard flooring. The dogs have access to that, the carpeted stairs, and a small hallway of carpet. Should be fine. Narrator: It was not fine. Cue my return to the distinct smell of explosive diarrhea. The smell has filled the house. I see a couple of poo streaks down stairs and think, wow, what a stench for a few streaks. Oh but wait, there’s more. I slowly creep up the stairs and see brown spots as I climb up. Please no. Oh but wait, there’s more! I reach the top and see a few more small spots. Okay not terrible. BUT OH WAIT, THERES MORE!! I turn the corner and low and behold, a fecal nightmare. At this point, you know I have a big dog and there’s poo on some carpet. Big dogs = big poos. Not only were there two large streaks of runs and plops of patties all over. The dog done pooed up the bathroom door. Still not sure on the logistics but there was splatter and patter because it was on the door, the frame, and somehow the half wall on the other side. Now... the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The cleanup. I picked up as much waste as I could using the ole ‘hand in the bag’ technique so there was minimal solid waste. Keep in mind, the waste is cold so it’s been here a hot minute. I then pretreated with the Hoover pretreat spray, which I also highly recommend. Next was busting out the power scrub deluxe with pet cleaner shampoo. This cleaner scrubbed like there was no tomorrow. I had to do a little more than the manual recommended passes but not only do I not see any evidence from the crime committed, I can lay my face on the crime scene and SMELL NOTHING. NOTHING!!! This horrifying episode alone earned every penny spent on the carpet cleaner. Thanks for a great product Hoover and those who took this story journey with me. Always remember to immediately clean your machine afterwards so it doesn’t get smelly.

Having owned a Bissell for 10 years, it finally crashed, and the search to replace was on. Visited Costco and they had another Bissell, but after looking it over, just wasn’t impressed with the changes made on the newest model. An internet search gave two choices – Hoover or Bissell. Hoover had the top 4 models, and after seeing what Bissell was selling, went for Hoover. Guess what, Hoover has a dozen different models. After reading a 100+ reviews on various models, I Chose the FH50150 (#3 on the list). And could not be happier. Pro’s: Easy assembly. Each tank slips-in, or locks in-place without having to force it – just take your time; access to tanks – excellent. No belt drive for brushes and they clean better than a roller bar since they scrub in multiple directions. Waste water container is separate. Rinse option – big plus. No hoses or attachments connected, only connect when needed – this too is a big plus as attachments get in the way when cleaning the carpet. Dis-assembly for cleaning is easy. Con’s: Power cord too short, could use another 5 feet, 10 feet would be better. Cleaner mix is preset. Having used multiple machines, degrees in cleaning carpet are all about the same on the surface. However, brushes scrub deeper, in multiple directions, and fluff up the pile better; this also loosens the fibers better for cleaning and allows more water to be sucked out – which reduces drying time. You can feel the difference when walking barefoot on the carpet – softer. If you haven’t cleaned your carpet in years and its really bad – call a professional Steam cleaner, or you will be there all day just to clean. This is not to say that the Hoover can’t do the job, but it is made to maintain, and if used regularly will keep carpet clean and fresh – will never need to call Stanley again. First time Carpet Cleaning techniques: First, pre-vacuum Slowly and in multiple directions. A good vacuum will pull up all the hair, dust, loose dirt, and open the carpet fibers for cleaning – if done correctly you won’t muck-up the carpet cleaner brushes with hair and loose fiber when you wash carpet. Second, use boiling hot water, pour into fill tank (it can take it), select rinse only, apply water while pushing slowly forward and then apply water while slowly pulling back over the same area. Slow is the key. One tank will do an 8 x 8 area, and take about 3-5 minutes. After initial rinse – repeat entire process with the second pass in a different direction. This loosens the fibers, gets out a ton of dirt, and prepares the fibers for cleaning. Next, add cleaner to tank (don’t fill to top). Continue using boiling hot water. Select wash and First apply while pushing slowly. Note: when pulling, the vacuum will suck up the soapy water as soon as you put it down, you need to give the soap an opportunity to get in there and clean. Then continue applying wash while pulling back over same area – you can pull back a little faster. After fill tank is empty, go over area again. This allows brushes to work fibers and remove excess water, you can also do this step a little faster. Move on to next section of carpet and repeat till room is washed. If you have light colored carpets, may want to do this whole wash process twice. Now its time to rinse the Carpet. First, empty out any cleaner in the fill tank, the selector may leak a little. Next, fill with Boiling hot water. Select rinse, and apply water while Pulling back only, and do this slowly. Then push forward over the same area to suck up any remaining water and dirt, Do Not Apply Water. Continue. If you are getting a lot of suds in the waste bucket, may need to rinse area again – recommend rinse area twice. After final rinsing, here is a technique. Do another rinse, only this time add about 2 tbl spoons of Downy fabric softener to the water (can use cold, but recommend hot). Use the same rinse technique and apply – this can go a little faster. Leaves a clean fresh smell. Allow carpet to dry, then vacuum. You will notice carpet is significantly softer. Average bedroom takes about an hour, living rooms about 3-4. If you have established dirt paths in your carpet, go over area 4-5 times, and always overlap. Don’t be discouraged after a dozen passes and you are still sucking up dirty water, it’s just the way it is. The key is Hot Water, and go slow. If dirt comes back around old stains after a couple of weeks, most likely too much soap was used and not rinsed out. Hot water rinse with the machine will usually take care of it, this also works well for new pet stains. Have had good success Using Platinum Plus for pets for cleaning stains. If you have a lot of pets, mixing a ¼ to ½ cup of vinegar in the final rinse works. However, it takes a while for the vinegar to evaporate, especially in humid regions, and this may affect the carpet, and this may strip out anti-stain in the carpet – test first. For stains that won’t come out – a weak bleach solution – suggest “Clorox Cleanup”, sprayed on the area and lightly scrubbed in with a wet rag works well. Allow to sit for a minute, use the hot water rinse and go over about 3 times. Repeat until stain is gone – also, overspray around stain to “Blend out” the bleaching process or you will have a white spot (do a little at a time and you will be all right). Last words on the Hoover. Dis-assembly for cleaning is simple and easy. Wash everything, be sure to clean black filter screen in waste water tank, allow all to dry, assemble and put away. If vacuum isn’t working while in use, dump waste water and try again. Sometimes just taking waste water tank off and re-seating does the trick. If water is too sudsy, will cause yellow float in waste water tank to stop suction – dump out water and rinse lid, or turn off, allow float to drop, and turn back on.

    Greater than one week

Easy-to-use and easy to clean. Works wonders and takes case of fresh accidents and removes older stains. Recommend using stronger cleaning supplies than hoover brands.

I have had this for several years now, and just got around to reviewing it. But I guess that is even better, because he will know that it is reliable. It works nicely, and I have been able to get stains out of my carpet very well. The worst one was an ink stain When I was doing calligraphy. I accidentally poured the entire bottle of black ink onto my cream colored carpet. I could not get everything out, but there is only a slate gray shadow in the carpet. It helps so much. It really does make the carpet look a lot better. I actually use thieves cleaner in it as the carpet shampoo. It worked very nicely. About a year after getting this machine, the seal Around the dirty water collector broke. I still use it although that is broken. It still works. OK, but I wish that that was a little sturdier. That has been the only problem.

Ten years ago I decided to buy a carpet cleaner , I read a ton of reviews and decided on the earlier version of this . And it was great . It blew up last week . So , I looked at reviews and the top machine was this one , a new and improved version . This version is a lot better . The water tank lasts longer . I like having a separate soap tank . This one dries as well . The only issue I had was the clean water tank doesn’t seem to sit properly , but that doesn’t seem to be an issue . If you want a carpet cleaner , this is it . $200 whereas the machine I bought ten years ago was closer to $400 . You only get a small bottle of soap this time , so pre-order soap . And a word of warning , a buddy of mine says in this machine to only use the Hoover soap , he has no skin in the game . Update ,based on experience with earlier model . Ok I’ve used it a few times now . It definitely makes the water go further . You don’t end up emptying the dirty water every five mins . I pretty much did a 20x14 carpet on two tanks . The separate soap bottle is a great idea , as you don’t mix it with the clean water , you don’t mind throwing the clean water away . It dries . They got rid of the “steam clean “ which had nothing to do with steam , didn’t even heat the water . Now that is deep clean or light clean , which is basically what the steam clean did , by increasing water flow . Being able to remove the nozzle for cleaning is a bonus , so much easier to clean now . Seems they have put a slightly longer cord on this version as well . You CAN do stairs , I don’t have stairs , but you can use the smaller nozzle and hose for that . Just remember you will be dragging the machine up your stairs in some cases . Once again , if you want a carpet cleaner , this is a damn good machine. And if you owned the earlier model , and liked it , you will love this version ,

The progressive innovations over the years make this cleaner top notch and convenient to use. This is my 4th carpet cleaner (2nd Hoover). Bissel has been good but more difficult to work with than the Hoover brand. Kudos to Hoover for the continued improvements! The machine is fragile in the sense that its mostly plastic. So requires deft handling. But the good price point and light handling are strong points. In my experience this type of machine is good for 2-3 years, depending on how heavily it is used. The convenience and effectiveness of the machine is delightful to a bi-weekly carpet cleaner (dogs).

I wanted to write this review after I’ve used it a few times. I previously had the bissell pro heat. All things are made of plastics now, it lasted about 3 years. I like that this unit has a separate container for clean water and dirty water. And they are huge. I love that it has separate soap dispenser then the clean water. You can wash an area and the flip the switch and rinse it without having to change out the container. My old unit had two long horizontal brushes, this one has several round brushes. I don’t feel I can go as fast as with the other but it seems to do a better job. I bought the one without heat and for that price I think it’s very good. My old unit had heat and it really didn’t seem to make a difference in the cleaning. I highly recommend buying this.
