I like this machine! We previously had a different brand, and we had to take it apart several times to get the suction going again/get it to work at all. It just stopped being worth the hassle. I wont name the brand, because we also had a house dog while we owned that shampooer, and now we dont. So a comparison may not be fair. Some people are complaining about certain things. I dont presume that they dont have valid complaints, but I will address a couple of them from my experience. I will also mention a few things Ive learned. Rusting/freezing up: I have used it probably 5 times, and have not had a problem. I always go over the carpet with just suction when I am done cleaning. I dump the water out of the clean and dirty tanks. I clean the filter and let it, and the dirty water tank, air dry before putting it back together. Maybe these steps help with the rust issue. Leaking: the only leak problem I had was on the first use: the soap dispenser drained completely, after only using it on one small carpet. I knew that was way too much soap (but wow, the carpet was clean!) I contacted customer service online. The guy was sympathetic but said he had never heard of this problem. I said I would try it again to see if it did it again, suspicious that I had done something wrong. My conclusion: user error. When replacing the dirty water tank, there is a lock on the front of the machine. It should snap into place and make a noticeable click when it is correctly placed. When it was not nested correctly, it caused the soap release button to be continuously pressed, causing soap to dispense all the time. So I have not ever had that problem again. Customer service: The rep I spoke with emailed me with a follow-up note, to ask if I was still having problems. I was impressed that he took that step. Since I had fixed my own error, all was well. I did not need further help, so I cant comment on how that might have gone. This cleans well, but Im sure it is not as good as a commercial shampooer. I have found that I may need to spot-treat some stains. For food or pet stains, one or two treatments with a pet stain cleaner with enzymes, prior to shampooing, does wonders. For very dirty, high traffic areas, I hit those first with the wash setting. Then I go over the entire carpet on the wash setting, then rinse well, and one more time with no just suction. I do think that the drying feature seems to dry it more than my previous machine did. My previous machine also had a heater for the clean water. This machine does not. I only fill it with hot water, and it is used up within 15 minutes, so I think this works just fine. One irritation I have is that the tanks never need attention at the same time, and I found myself stopping every five minutes to dump the dirty water, or fill the soap or clean water reservoirs. So now if one tank needs attention, I take both and dump/refill all in one trip. I can keep going longer that way. A very simple fix. There are attachments to use on upholstery or small areas. They are stored in a bag, which is not as convenient as having them all snapped right onto the machine. I have not used them yet, so I cant comment on how well those work. Also, I do not use the Hoover brand of soap. I make my own. I know that this is not recommended, and may void any warranty. Do so at your own risk, but I have not had any problems doing so. This was $130 when I bought it in 2018, and I have used it several times. We dont have a lot of carpet, but ours gets pretty dirty. My nearest place to rent a commercial shampooer is 20 miles away, and it costs $30 per day to rent. I have gotten my moneys worth out of this machine already. I hope it keeps running for a long time, but even if it doesnt, I am a satisfied customer. I am paying for convenience-no trips to pick up and return- as well as cleaning my carpet. If I wanted one to last for years and years, I would not expect to pay this amount. I am sad that some manufactured things these days end up being disposable, but I also dont want to fork over 3-5 times the amount for a more heavy-duty machine.

We cannot believe how easy this is to use and it contains a large storage tank. Go slow with the cleaning and the results are phenomenal. Thanks Hoover and Amazon.

    Greater than one week

I like the lightness of it.

Wow! I had read the reviews, but I still wasnt prepared for how amazing this machine is! We had some horrible stains that we assumed could had been grease dragged in by our mechanic son. We tried different sprays and couldnt get the stains out. My son used this carpet cleaner, and after he went over the stains a few times, they disappeared. I wish I had before photos to show you how great it is. The dirty water also blew me away after he cleaned the room. I had no idea how bad the carpet was, even though its vacuumed at least once a week. The water was full of dirt and cat hair. This machine is worth every penny. I plan to talk my son into cleaning every room in the house now! Highly recommend!!

This is an excellent cleaner! Does a great job with minimal detergent! Easy to fill and drain.

I couldnt get the water to come out of the 1st one. I returned it and ordered again given the reviews. Much better. I only wish the cord was about 2 feet longer but it is by no means short.

I have NEVER left a positive review for a vacuum or shampooer… well here we go. This thing is unbelievable… it distributes shampoo evenly and it truly does… as much water that you put into your carpet will come back up through the shampooer and you can clearly see it’s black and I have OCD lol to my surprise it was not light… now when I shampoo it’s light… it’s easy to move… the tanks are massive which is nice I don’t have to change or get water every 10 minutes… literally if it broke I would still buy it again

This cleaner really does a very good job. My only complaint is I find I have to empty the retrieving tank much more often as it seems like it is a smaller capacity then a previously owned Hoover product. In the past I could do my entire house and empty it just once. With his model yesterday I had to empty it three times. But again performance wise it does work great.

I’ve used this a fair amount since I bought it, and here are some random thoughts: 1) Hooked/Berber Rugs: I bought this specifically for the attachments because I thought I would need them to clean my hooked rugs (like Berbers with a looped pile) to protect it. After being on my hands and knees for ½ hour with the attachment, I realized that it was an exercise in futility, so I broke down and used the machine as intended. Well, turns out that the brushes are actually quite soft and gentle so it worked perfectly without damaging the rugs. 2) Rust: I read a lot of reviews that complain about the machine rusting, so I remove both the brush head and clear plastic nozzle (cow catcher on the front) before storing it. Can’t say whether this approach works or not (I’ve only had the machine for 6 months) but it can’t hurt. I’m hoping that it will help any residual moisture to dry out more easily. I also clean out the tanks well and make sure that they are really dry before putting them back on when I store it away. 3) Cleaning the brushes: No matter how much I vacuum first, this machine still manages to pull up a ton of dog hair from my rugs (maybe I need a new vacuum?). Anyway, all of the hair ends up buried deep down in the brush bristles. It turns out that you can remove the brushes from the clear plastic assembly that encases them, but frankly I’m scared to break the little locking tabs. As a result, it seems that soaking and “swishing” the entire assembly in a bucket of water seems to clean it fairly well. 4) Soap dispenser: Frankly I think the fill line ends up holding way more soap than you can use with one tank of clean water, and there’s no easy way to get it back into the jug so it’s a waste. I only fill the dispenser about ½ full. 5) Yellow “float” pops up: When the float pops up you loose suction, and it seems to be because the filter is blocked. This is probably the most annoying thing about this machine. I thought it was just the dog har that was blocking the filter, but even removing it with a clothes brush didn’t help. Now I’m convinced that soap build-up causes the blockage, and rinsing the filter with a lot of clean water seems to solve the problem. 6) Cord: I managed to run over the cord several times, which can’t be a good thing, so I finally looped it through the upper cord storage hook which fixed the problem. 7) High/Low Rugs: Not sure that any carpet machine could handle this, but the brushes cant reach the low parts of my high/low sculpted rugs. The attachments help though All in all I’m very happy with this machine and with how clean it gets my rugs. It’s not terribly heavy, so I’m able to clean all of my carpets without feeling like I ran a marathon. The price also seems reasonable when compared to others on the market.

My wife loves this shampooer. We have two dogs, one is a puppy and a 4 yr old so accidents are unavoidable. My wife uses this constantly on the rugs and on the furniture to clean up. It does a great job
