so the great thing about this, is I use to buy the 5 gallon salt buckets. MAN one drop of water in there and no you are chiseling your way through the chunks of hard salt now. This box actually has individual bags, so if one bag got wet, it will only affect that bag, the rest of the salt is safe. it happens sometimes when i use my scooper to put the salt into the RO water to make my salt water and a splash will hit the handle or the 5 gallon bucket and then its all over.. I like it better this way for me.

I wanted something consistent and cheap for hatching brine shrimp. This product worked fine for my purpose. 1 tablespoon per litre and Im done. should last me at least a year before I need a refill. Feels slightly wet, but it doesnt affect my purpose.

I opened my box, and their is an inch hole in the bag and the salt has drawn in moisture. I’m sure I can still use the salt because it dissolves in the water anyways. But when I opened the box, salt spilt on my carpet. I have ordered several bags of salt before and haven’t had any problems. Not sure if the bag got ripped open from handling or it was sent like this to me. Also noticed the heater I ordered was opened. I do have the heater plugged in and it is operating properly.

Ive been using Instant Ocean for over Thirty years. I started using it when I started my Hobby, when I became a research scientist and throughout the Thirty five years I ran an Aquarium business. I cannot recommend this salt enough.. Reef Tank, Invert Tank or a Simple Table top tank. Ive installed aquariums up to Ten Thousand Gallons, and as small as 1 gallon. They were all filled with Instant Ocean.. Now that I am almost retired?.. Getting it delived to your door for this price?... Priceless!

I used to own a tropical fish shop, a commercial FW fish breeder and now just a retired hobbyist. I only use Instant Ocean salts to hatch and/or grow Brine shrimp now. I have always obtained superior hatches using marine salt mixes over rock salt. In the past, Ive cultured some corals but a true measure of a marine salt mix is to have reef fish breed in captivity. I have had pairs of Yellowtail Blue Damsels, Chrysiptera parasema) breed almost every week for months at a time in the early 1980s. In a different setup in the late 1980s and early 1990s I had a 125 gal reef tank. Mostly corals with a few fish. In that tank, my pair of Pygmy Flame Angelfish, Centropyge loricula and trio of Mandarin Dragonets, Synchiropus splendidus, would regularly spawn just after the lights turned off. Of course, I never successfully raised any young because that is too difficult if one is landlocked with no access to tropical plankton to fee the young but some have been successful in tropical Pacific and Caribbean ora.com facilities. Most major public and commercial marine aquariums use Instant Ocean because it has high predictable quality at reasonable prices.
