If you have your own home WIFI router, they never have enough ports, 4 max. This is the way to add more ports for multiple wired computers, VOIP phones, laptops, Multimedia. I added mine for 2 VOIP phones and a bridge. Go with an 8 port or 16. You will always find that at some point you will need to expand. For $21, I cant complain. This is a wired eitherswitch, has nothing to do with WIFI so that could not be rated. Real simple to install, Tech support, not needed. You may need a Cat 5E or Cat 6 Ethernet jumper cable as this is a Gigabit Etherswitch. 3 to 5 foot may be fine but more if it is a long run.

I needed more ethernet ports and thought I might have to buy a new router, but this was so much cheaper and easier. Very easy to install--just hook all the pieces together.

I purchased this in 2017 for my first home Ethernet system. We were signed up for 100m cable internet at the time and it worked well. This switch is gigabyte ready. 2022 and a new company is offering 600m fiber internet with TV for a little less than the cable company that boost to 200m for free to try and retain customers. After the installation, the internet looked good. Then later the same day the tv started buffering. I checked the speed and every test was different. No internet, 10m, 100m, 300m. The next day it stabilized at 97. I plugged my router into the fiber interface and it was showing 630m, I plugged into the router about the same, I plugged into the switch and 97m. I don’t know what the life of a residential use switch is but at some point we reached it and didn’t know till we upgraded our home internet. I went with TP-Link switch this time.

These are great for desktop port expansion. Runs 3-4 Gig devices simultaneously along with lighter load devices.

It only took a minute to plug in all of my computers and a new Infrant terabyte network-attached storage system. The switch works great and file transfer time is much quicker than when I had everything plugged into a 10Mbit router/switch. No reading of the manual.

Great price, well made and easy as can be to get up and running.

So far it has been a great purchase. It give the extra port I need to connectball my devices.
