Extremely well packaged! The PM3-55 arrived in perfect condition. Installation was easy (for lead acid battery there is no need to adjust) Super simple installation, my coach batteries were at 10.1v according to the Solar regulator, fired up the genny and the PM3 was immediately reading 14.64v output on my calibrated multi-meter and 13.1 on the solar regulator (reads @ the battery bank). Ill update as time goes on, my comparison will be against a 1992 vintage supply/charger so I am sure this unit will exceed my expectations.

Good power supply for ECU programming. Holds constant voltage during ECU module programming. Auto shut off if another power source is detected. Charged fully drained battery under 45 mins. Only con in this power supply is that it doesnt have power supply voltage reading measure display, you have to use volt meter to determine the measurement under fixed voltage supply. If you are programming BMW ECUs I recommend you set the fixed voltage to 14.2 vdc so your output value on terminal 15 and terminal 30 remains between 13.6 to 14 vdc. Voltage supply only fluctuates for the first few mins.

My original was narrow vertical mount and a defunct company. I was able to have enough space to floor mount this near original area. It seems to be doing the intended job of keeping the coach batteries charged and the rest of the 12 volt system up proper level. The noise level of the cooling fan is quite minimal and actually an assurance that it is working. The 55 amp unit was considerably less expensive than other makes of same amp range. So time will tell if it is less expensive or cheap junk. Ive had it only a couple months; so far, so good. Id give it 5 stars if it would create its own power !!

Although this product lasted me about four years, can anyone explain how it burned up these two 40 amp fuses all of the sudden out of the blue? It operated flawlessly all this time and then the fuses actually melted and also melted the fuse sockets. At the time of failure it was powered with a 1,600 watt Predator generator - that has also ran many many hours flawlessly before and after these fuses burned up. Since the fuse sockets melted I am not going to replace the fuses just to see what might happen. Thoughts?

Not 5 stars only because I just got the unit today and confirmed that its working. My application required replacing a shot Atwood APS 5530 converter. I simply disconnected that unit and left it in place, and hooked the Powermax up the same way using 6AWG wire: Powermax positive output to the Converter + input on my Atwood fuse board. Powermax negative output to the grounding block on the back of my panel. Plugged into the same outlet as my microwave. Removed the 40A reverse battery fuses on the board since the Powermax is fused. Voltage tested at 14.7 at the unit and the converter input on the fuse board. Dropped to 13.6 after a few minutes, unit was warming up but no fan running. Voltage at the battery + on the fuse board reads 12.5. Good enough for me ... Ill hope this lasts a few years or more and keeps my batteries in good shape. I plan to mount on the wall next to the microwave which offers plenty of front/rear breathing room for the fan. No way to mount it in the same space as the panel.

Installed the converter in June of 2021, stopped working in September 2022. Luckily I was on a local camping trip where I could return home and pick up a battery charger and return to the campground and charge my batteries up enough to get the landing gear retracted. When I got home I did some troubleshooting and tried to find warranty information on Amazon and couldn’t find any so the top of the converter came off and I discovered a blown fuse on the circuit board that was soldered in. Bypassing the fuse with some alligator clips resulted in a blown capacitor. So it buying a new converter for me. Not happy with this one only lasting 15 months. Lucky it happened to me on a local trip and not my wife on one of her boon docking horse camp outs. When it worked it was great but reliability is very poor.

Installed this Powermax just on 2 years ago and it has run, and still runs great!! Fans kick in every now and then but the best part is my house batteries are charging so much better now. I went through a couple of house batteries when I realized it was the power converter charger (Progressive Dynamics) that was pretty much cooking the batteries. Not so anymore with the 3 stage charging from the Powermax. The unit was a little larger than the original but with a Dremel tool and a few well-placed cuts in the main Parallax/Magnetek power center housing, I was able to get it installed neatly. Installed in a 2007 Winnebago Access 29T.

I used this unit to replace an 80 AMP Intellicharger in a 40 5th wheel travel trailer/toy hauler that is in year round use. The unit replaced had been severely damaged by a mysterious power surge on the 120v AC input along with several other appliances in the trailer. It is working perfectly and having no trouble doing what its supposed to do. If the Trailer were not on nearly continuous AC shore power I might have gone with a higher output PS/charger but this one does just fine at less than half the cost of the unit it replaced. I reserved one star in my rating because who knows how long it will last.
