    I had to write a review on this drive I just received yesterday the Nov 11 2020. I purchased the Samsung portable SSD T7 , 500 GB. I had watched a lot of youtube videos on how to boot from an external drive. And I recommend that you do too. I now have the computer start from the portable SSD. And it starts so quick. Before the computer took appx 2 minutes from pressing the power button to be ready. Now it takes about 35 seconds to be ready. This is the same computer from 2015 , that now is like a brand new race car computer. If I could do it, I think anyone can. We shall see ,as after reading these reviews I hope the drive lasts. Good luck, watch it on youtube first and you can do it too. In system preferences I used starter disk and selected the SSD as the starter disk. I downloaded from the app store OS Catalina, and when it asks you where to install it , install it on the SSD drive. But remember to erase the SSD and format it. Thank you for your time. THE STEPS I DESCRIBED ARE NOT IN THE ORDER I COMPLETED THEM, SO PLEASE DO NOT FOLLOW THE STEPS I LISTED AS A LIST TO DO.

    I bought this for my son as a Christmas gift. He need to transfer 5000+ songs and other game files from his really old PC to secure storage. He plugged in the unit to his old laptop and very simply dragged/dropped all his files to the external storage unit. I bought the 1TB one and it will last a long time. Plenty of storage left on it. It also comes with a separate case you can buy but I did not buy it.
