    I have many thousands of photos redundantly backed up on external hard drives. Theyre terrific but big and not realistically portable since they need to be plugged into the wall in addition to the computer. This little 1Tb SSD fits in my pocket and doesnt require external power. Its fast enough (1050MB/s) that I can easily do do complex edits straight from the drive. Very cool little device

    I had purchased a Crucial X6 2TB which performed no faster than my existing USB spinning drives (WD Elements) but otherwise the X6 worked fine with my RedComets U25 PCIe to USB hub on my Proxmox servers. Got the Samsung T7 to see if it would be speedier than the X6 but instead Proxmox/Debian reported Device offlined - not ready after error recover. The T7 was recognized on the existing motherboard USB 3 hub but file transfers regularly timed out and the overall speed was under 10 MB/s. Numerous Amazon reviewers said their T7 worked fine with Linux. Maybe I got a lemon in the T7 but in testing USB SSD drives, Ive been underwhelmed with their actual speed and quality for the money.
