Purchased for my gramkids during my summer visit with them.. Nice quality paper. Hope to see what theyve put in their journals when I return in November.

The paper is textured. I use these for picture journals of our life, etc. I have two of the larger size, but think I may like this smaller size better. I use watercolor pencil and ink. It works fine with those. And its fun to just work in a journal. The paper is heavy and does not leak through with either the water or the ink I use.

This is a pretty decent sketchbook. The paper is very smooth & lays down ink very well. If youre using Copic or Prismacolor markers though, it will show through to the other side of the page. I did read the description wrong though & thought it had 56 sheets, its only 28 sheets with the front & back counting as 56 pages. Prismacolor & Copics show up very well, bright & saturated. Pretty easy to blend on also. If you are planning on using markers, I would suggest going for the Crescent RendR. It comes with more sheets of paper, colors show just as well & the pages do not bleed at all so you can use both sides.

I love the Strathmore Visual Journal it is by far one of the best journals I have worked in.I generally make my own journals when Im in the mood but I wanted a wire journal and decided to give this one a chance.I use alot of water on my pages and Im use to having to make my own journal from 140lb Strathmore Sheets. This journal uses the same paper and since its wire bound it lays flat. The paper will buckle slightly when its wet and I get it really wet. However if you set it to the side it will dry fairly quickly and when it has it is once again completely flat. The paper is excellent quality a professional artist will love it.

On the picture are all (well almost) all the medias that I use: watercolours, gouche, Polychromos colored pencils, acrylic paint, acrylic pens (posca, tooli art, artistro) and ohuhu marker (i tried at the corner and it bleeds). Sadly only the watercolours, gouche, acrylic paint and Polychrome work. All of my acrylic pens really struggled. The paper got peeled very quickly and sucked the paint in immediately so even a bit blending is impossible. The surface felt so bumpy with every stroke of the acrylic pens, unlike the smooth (almost meditative) stage with the Moleskin sketchbook. in short, watercolour performed best. Gouche, acrylic paint and Polychromos survived. I guess that I wikl stick to my Moleskin sketchbook for acrylic paint and crescent creative for mixed media. The chicken pic is mixed media and the alcohol markers didn’t show to the otherside even 1 bit (Crescent creative sketchbook). This sketchbook is not the best for watercolor but to my use with alcohol markers, it’s better in general.

I like it. Good quality watercolor paper. Convenient size for travel and plein air sketching or painting. Sturdy front and back cover. Good job!

Ive moved to this larger size from Moleskine watercolor and such. Id used the smaller size version of this sketchbook and liked the paper. Im enjoying working in a larger size. The 140# paper does well with even very wet watercolor washes. It curls a bit and a binder clip might be needed. But once it dries, its flat. If you like spiral bound sketchbooks, this is a good one to try.

I like the book format, and the paper is a perfect weight for watercolor. I use mine a lot.
