> 3 dayI love this thing. It does exactly what I needed it to, and its very easy to use. Just make sure that you have all of the necessary cables for connecting it to your devices. What you need may not be included in this purchase, depending on how you plan to use it, so thats something to keep in mind.

> 3 dayThis product feels like its software is written by some guy that still living in the 90s with his VHS player. I have a few issue with the software. I wish you could pre-set the name of the video file that youre capturing before you hit the capture button. I also wish there were more formats available for capturing. The hack they have in the software is that you need to convert from the original file to something else after you extract. Then when you covert it looks like it has to play the whole thing in 3x speed. For me Im converting to an MPEG2 video using this software then converting that file to an m4v file. Im doing this for 2 reasons. I tune the file size in handbrake since the features are far more advanced than this ancient software. This lets me get file size reduce by over half without any noticeable video quality changes. Also, I use some free video editing software called DaVinci Resolve and it doesnt even support MPEG2 since it so old. Also, the registration process is broken and cant detect that you have an internet connection. It keeps telling me to fill out a form and mail it in because I dont have an internet connection. Like its my fault their software isnt working and they want me to yet again relive the age of the VHS where the only way to do registration was by mail. Another issue is that when you capture they should have a prompt so you can put in the date of the file and a description. I end up having to do this after the fact under the file properties in the operating system. What they do instead is just default to todays date and that gets automatically appended to the credits when youre using the editor. That part is really annoying since a lot of people would put multiple videos on one VHS to save money since tapes werent exactly cheap. All together it seems like this software is living in the past. Its mostly built on the premise of converting from one legacy medium (VHS) to another legacy medium(DVD). Then it just looks like their software developers probably just tried to hack a solution to convert the files for your digital devices. They might as well have just made a pop up that says, Just use Handbrake, then you dont have to wait for our slow software to do a worse job and waste more of the time youre already devoting to this project.

> 3 dayAwesome buy. I bought this in conjunction with a vhs converter and have been extremely pleased. The software is awesome and offers a lot of editing options, and is straightforward to use even for novices. Also, the product works well through constant usage without drop off in quality. Video quality depends on the input, but I just saved 20 years of home movies with this product. Cant ask for more than that.

18-12-2024For the most part, I like this software/hardware product. I actually am very happy with the hardware. It is easy to connect my old camcorder to my computer and transfer to digital format. I have been putting them (transferred home movies from VHS) on disk drives (I call them thumb drives). My somewhat low rating is for the editing software. If you try to get too fancy making changes, the program stops responding and if you dont save your project OFTEN, you lose all the work (and a lot of time) you put in up to that point. The PDF directions are easy to read and comprehend but it wont let you email it to print from a different printer. (Mine is out of ink right now and I wanted to email it to work so I could print it on that printer.) There are a few other options Id like to see added. For example, there is a title screen and a credits screen in the storyboard editing. You cant copy a photo into either of these screens. It would be nice to be able to do that. It would also be nice to add a picture to the transitions between clips. And, I discovered (during this last non-responsive error) that you can add text to a clip but only to the beginning of a clip. I would like to add text to the middle of a clip, kind of like an editorial during events. I will continue to use this program; I just have to remember to save the project often and find other tricks to make title pages and ending credit pages the way I want them by making a new clip screen and adding a picture. Hopefully, it wont freeze before I get each edit done.

Greater than one weekInitial review: Worked well the first day of use. On second day, it was DOA. Works good when working. Serious reliability problems. Revised review: Amazon sent a replacement immediately. Replacement has worked flawlessly for over 40 video tapes. Changed my rating from 2 stars to 4 stars. I would recommend to a friend.

> 3 dayReally liked this. Worked like a charm converting the VHS tapes. I didnt use the editing software as I already have one that I am familiar with. If your tapes are badly damaged, I wouldnt get this, but for the price I thought it was great. I did have to contact their customer support a few times as I was having issues with this working with my anti-virus program. They are American based, and extremely helpful!!

> 3 dayThis product works exactly as described and does a great job of capturing and copying VHS to a digital format. I recommend this over many others simply because of the ability to create MPEG4 format as most other converters will not do this. The software included is very easy to navigate and understand. This product would work great for an inexperienced or experienced operator. I have it installed on a Win 10 machine and it works very well.

> 3 dayAlthough it shows and input for DVD Player, in dubbing DVDs there is dropout of the sound occasionally. I talked to their tech and he told me it has problems dubbing digital media. Otherwise AOK.

> 3 dayI am LOVING this! I have VHS tapes that are over 30 years old. Ive tried transferring them over time but never really seem to get caught up (did I mention I have a LOT of tapes?). Ive used the GO VIDEO machine and that was nice but youre limited to just moving the video to DVD with no way to edit. And when the machine finally died, it was too expensive to replace and eventually almost impossible to find even used. Then I tried one similar to this product but no matter what I did, the video would not show up in the program so that didnt work. I just put the whole thing out of my mind until I came across this product. I figured with it being Amazon and Im Prime, I had nothing to lose. This is great because you have a simple interface for uncomplicated videos (all one thing and not longer than 2hr SP mode) and an advanced mode where you can do everything from stop recording so you can insert a new tape or fast forward to another section you want to record without recording whats in between and it saves each clip in a list to the right of the preview window) where you can even rename them on the fly - no need to open the folder where its being saved to edit the file name there, which is so less confusing and quicker. You can choose the quality and even the format (like mpg file or CD movie file or standard or long DVD file and more). You can even edit the video you transfer right from there or open a file outside to edit. You can set a timer, too. So if the tape runs 2 hrs but you only want the first hour, no need to watch the video. Set the timer and it will stop recording even though the tape continues to play! AND you can even export the files right from there to social media like Facebook! This also lets you create pix discs and audio files. Just choose which you want to do from the 4 very simple processes. Each is very easy to understand and it comes with excellent written and visual directions. The software disc is easy to install and it really is just the best! *Pix is of the advanced mode screen.
