Greater than one weekThe USB Box is great and works very well. The Video Editing SW works to edit video. The editing tools are very basic. Much time spent single stepping in frame, and second increments to get to the frame to cut. Makes DVDs that play on your computer, but does not make those that play in a video player. Some how apparently not included.

> 3 dayWorks pretty well. Since you have to transfer the tapes in real-time, its nice to be able to set a record timer on the software and walk away from the PC. Makes transferring several tapes pretty easy. DVD authoring feature is pretty good, but its not for noobs. Youll turn several DVD-Rs into coasters and frisbees before you finally get the hang of it.

Greater than one weekWe love this product. We had dozens of cassette recordings, years of family stuff, all had been loaded in a dusty cardboard box... for who ever looks at cassettes anymore??? This product saved our family memories, converted them to DVD, where we now burn copies onto DVDs and share those family adventures with our grown kids. Example, our kids were little at their ballgames or birthday parties or talent shows or... and we got them on those old cassette videos. Problem is though we taped a lot of the game/party... way too much. Using this product, we found it easy to clip our old videos, cutting out the parts that no one will ever want to watch, then we merged our clips into a smooth DVD file, titling and dating each one simply by naming each file uniquely. This project is time consuming, dont think this job is going to be done in one day or two shifts. If you have a 45 minute VHS cassette, itll take 45 minutes to convert it to DVD, then, depending on how many clips you cut, add another 45 minutes to realizing your finished DVD product. The few questions I had were quickly answered when I called Honestech for help. Wife, kids and I love it.

> 3 dayI followed the directions step by step and had a problem at first. I called their tech support line, and they were quite helpful. I think the only issue with this product for me is I do wish there was a faster way to record the VHS as opposed to real time. Ive only messed around with this for about an hour, and it does what its intended. I will try to call the tech support to see if there is a faster way to record.

17-12-2024I’ve been meaning to convert my old VHS and camcorder tapes and wanted to make sure that someone could help me if I ran into any problems since I have no experience in any of this. I was a little hesitant at first after reading some of the reviews but decided to give this product a try anyway because they seem to be the only one I found to have customer support and people who used their older products seem to like them. I ran into some problems at first when I couldn’t see anything on my PC so I called the customer support and they walked me through the whole thing. It turned out that I just connected the cables wrong. I felt a little embarrassed but the guy I talked to was very patient and nice, and even made sure everything worked fine before getting of the phone. Other than the glitch at the beginning, I’m actually surprised by how easy it was to use! I even tried to edit a little using their more advanced mode. I’m definitely glad that I got this product and would recommend it to others like me.

> 3 dayI purchased this kit (VHStoDVD 8.0 Deluxe) awhile back during a Gold Box Lightning Deal sale, but Im just now getting around to using it. The software was easy to install and has been very easy to use (Im just using the basic video recording function). Hookup was simple too, just connect the cables to the box and to the video player. You get some cables with this kit - but Im using the S-Video input and had to supply my own cable for that. The digital videos this software creates is more than adequate for my needs. The finished files are in MPG format (think its MPEG-1) which are pretty huge, a one hour video comes out to be a 3GB+ file. The video resolution of the files Im getting is 480P (720x480). I could convert them to MP4, but the media player I have plays the MPG files fine. Im using a pretty heavy-duty computer (i7 w/12GB running Win7Pro) to run this software. Like I said, this kit works for me. Im happy with my purchase.

> 3 dayEasy to use. Instruction book is long so hard to read on the computer and too many pages to print. At first it did not wor because my computer did not recognize the right drivers to make it run but the customer service people that I talked to helped me and within 15 minutes it ran perfectly. I love the product

> 3 dayAwesome buy. I bought this in conjunction with a vhs converter and have been extremely pleased. The software is awesome and offers a lot of editing options, and is straightforward to use even for novices. Also, the product works well through constant usage without drop off in quality. Video quality depends on the input, but I just saved 20 years of home movies with this product. Cant ask for more than that.

> 3 dayI like to use a product for a period of time before writing a review as to give a more accurate accounting of the item. I have converted 62 VHS tapes to DVD with this purchase. at first I had an issue and tech support had me download a new driver and I was all set to go. I am getting good quality images / video. I have had only one time that there was a glitch of sorts and the video did not burn. After the second try it went right through. I am extremely satisfied. Compared to ROXIO this one beat it hands down.

> 3 dayPretty easy set up and use for a novice. Exactly what I was looking for. I was able to set it up and capture a video the I got it in the mail. I bought this to digitize a fairly large collection of home footage that has varying quality (some grainier, darker, lighter, etc.). Ive had it for about a month now and captured approx. 6 hrs worth of footage. I did end up scraping about 4 hrs worth because Im still playing around with the settings. Thats more my bad though, I should have waited until I had the software figured out. The only real problems Ive had thus far was shipping from the seller, an operator error on my part, and time to capture the footage.
