VIDBOX VHS to DVD 8.0 Deluxe

> 3 dayI have used the 5.0 version and it worked fine copying old VHS home movies. I bought this one to use on a computer without a optical drive (cd tray) and could not find online where to download the software. Finally I saw in small print with the link in instructions under the first step. I had missed it earlier and tried to search online. Version 8 has more options, like saving as a media file rather than trying to just burn a CD, and it works well. Quality is mostly dependent on your old VCR.

18-12-2024I bought this to replace a VCR/DVD combo recorder that I bought ten years ago because the VCR does no longer work. The VCR/DVD combo worked well and made good copies of my family tapes before the VCR died. I decided to try this Vidbox because it was 1/4 the cost of a VCR/DVD combo recorder. This Vidbox was easy to set up, simple software, and easy to record. The problem I have with it is that the quality of the video is poor. I tried 3 different VCRs and really good quality RCA cables with no better results. Pixels in the video as well as no video at times. It has a setting to correct this problem, however I could not tell any difference with it on or off. It might convert better if you are trying to copy store bought videos. That was not my reason for purchasing this. I have personal videos that I wanted to preserve and it just did not cut the mustard.

Greater than one weekprettty good software that works with a lot of windows programs (Vista, Windows 7, windows 10 are what i used.), pretty easy to use. Much cheaper than having someone convert old vhs tape to digital.

> 3 dayThe package did great at converting my VHS videos to digital files, although I wish it had an HDMI interface (does anyone still have S-VHS cables?). The short coming I found was in the software to edit the digital files after I converted them so that I could string them together into one DVD video, with chapter breaks and such. I had to get other software to do that. But with the conversion it did great.

> 3 daySMOOTH AND EASY, thats the way I like it and thats what this delivers. I work in an edit studio where quality is important. I have had a couple converters that give just kinda grainy, shaky transfers (SOny Media Tower, Im looking at you). This one, if you take the time to just read the instructions, installs beautifully first time and does a slam-bang job of transferring whatever Ive fed into in. Some old Hi-8 was first, and it looked pretty darn good. Guys in the room were like, whoa! Were in business! We used S-video cable (not the supplied RCA jacks) for that. Did some VHS, and found that it gives a good transfer, but of course, its not a miracle worker. I had some garbage that is still garbage BUT its not editable in our pro machines where it wasnt just seconds before. Good VHS looks really good. The audio is very good too. No extra hum or hiss added. Operationally its a breeze. Sorry but those reviewers who have reported problems, I just dont get it. This thing does the job with a VERY easy to use interface (duh, push de button get de video). You see the video in the small viewing screen. Controls beneath that. Rewind, well, thats to rewind. Free updates. Sorry, its that simple and works great and stable every time we duh, push de button. Simple! Awesome. Exactly the way I need it to be because I function on a lot of levels with a ;lot of different equipment and just dont need a lot of fussy particulars. Good video from old stuff at last! The version we got, works on both the Mac and windows PC (have 8.1 and Windows 10 here, a disk was provided for each format). By the way, and this will be obvious, make sure you are buying for your type computer (PC or WIndows) if you dont get the one that does both because it absolutely will not work on the wrong system. Sorry for me, first time I didnt push de right button. But they took care of me which is something else I really liked. Real people at work behind the screens and phones. Buy with confidence.

> 3 dayI have had this product since 2018. I have used it on a number of devices over the years. Having bought a new laptop, I needed help with getting the product to work correctly on it. It seemed that no matter what I tried, it would not work. Then I emailed tech support at vidbox.company. They responded quickly and gave me numerous options to fix the connection issues. It all worked well, just have a minor tracking issue left, due to the new laptop using an AMD Athlon Gold processor. The issue is minor. I learned that this processor does not do well with high demand programs. This product, which does work quite well, works best with an Intel processor.

> 3 dayGranted some of my videos were thirty year plus old and I really dont think anything could be done to better them, I am very happy and please on how easy it was to transfer my videos to my Desk Top hard drive. I have made copies and sent them out to family. They enjoyed.

> 3 dayI love this thing. It does exactly what I needed it to, and its very easy to use. Just make sure that you have all of the necessary cables for connecting it to your devices. What you need may not be included in this purchase, depending on how you plan to use it, so thats something to keep in mind.

16-12-2024Has some issues. First of all I highly recommend getting a video signal booster between your vcr and this device. I had a lot of weird flickering going on. After calling tech support, they said my vcr signal was probably weak and the device does no amplification. Also this makes random ticking noises through your speakers. Doesnt end up on the video but is annoying. And the most annoying part...the final video can be choppy at times even when you dont see it while you are watching. No doubt a product of digitizing the video. Usually at the beginning of the footage, its all black and white and jumpy until the the device figures out how to track. Very annoying!!!!! Hindsight I wish I could have used a DVD/vcr recorder before they discontinued them.
