> 3 dayThis is the second Wion outdoor plug I purchased. Over 1 year ago the first one installed with out a hitch and works great. The timer function (dusk to dawn with 20 minute offsets) is easy to set up. The distance it receives the wifi signal is impressive - it is mounted on my dock and easily picks up the WIFI signal from the house more than 100 feet away. The second one was a nightmare to set up. First I had the problem with naming the plug with a name longer the 5 characters. Thanks to all the Amazon reviews I figured that out. Next I used different amazon account for each plug because I forgot which account I used on the first plug 1 year ago. Even with that mistake, the WION app found both plugs but Alexa could only find one plug. The fix was easy, put both plugs on the same amazon account in the WION app. Next I disabled the WION skill in the Alexa App, then I re-enabled the skill and signed on to the Amazon account. Then Alexa was able to find both plugs. I normally would not give 5 stars to something with such limited customer support - but these are well engineered and easy to set up if you dont use a name longer than 5 characters and make the mistake of using two different amazon accounts. I have smart home devices from Leviton, iHome, Insignia(Best Buy), Amazon brand, Ecobee, and others. I think these plugs are some of the best designed, best operating and easy to install. Its too bad the traps in setup are only documented in Amazon reviews ...

> 3 dayI had the same difficulties other reviewers expressed, in setting up this plug-in. I reset it about five times, and re-installed the WiOn phone app a couple of times before I got it all to work. As others have commented, I had the same issues with the ambiguous printed directions. Once programmed, I installed the plug-in at a sheltered outdoor outlet, so far it is working correctly. Time will tell...

> 3 dayThis review is for the Wi-FI version of the outlet, NOT the standard remote control (non-Wi-Fi) version. An outstanding product. Unboxed, plugged in, connected to wi-fi, and was using the app on my phone in about ten minutes. Pros: * Easy to connect to wi-fi * Has a variety of settings that are easily accessed through the app on my iPhone: Programmable Timer, Countdown Timer, Astronomic Timer, Vacation Random, and Security Random. The Programmable Timer (a multi-day timer) is easy to set and adjust. * You can give a custom name to the device(s) that you are controlling. I called mine icicle lights. * Has two outlets. Its worth noting that the two outlets can not be controlled independently. Whatever settings you use for one outlet have to be used for the second outlet. * Has a simple on/off switch on the app so I can easily override the programmed settings. * A good value for the cost. Cons: * Havent found any so far. Setup: * MY WiOn 50049 Outdoor Wi-Fi Outlet (2 outlets), is connected to an Airport Extreme router. The WiOn app is installed on my iPhone 6s. Works very nicely. Used to connect my icicle lights to my wi-fi network. No more having to go up and down the stairs to turn them on and off or fiddling with a clunky digital timer or reprogramming the timer when the power goes out. One thing to note: When the app searches for the router, it can take a few minutes for it to find it, depending on the speed of your mobile device.

> 3 dayI have had this working over the winter to turn on the outside lights on my patio. The construction of the outlet is pretty good, it connected right up and had zero issues working with the amazon alexa. The reason I gave it three stars is the app. The outlet has been deleted from the app 3 times already on it own. All of a sudden alexa says the device is not responding and it is because the outlet is no longer recognized as a device in Wions app. I have to go back out and set the outlet up again, then put it back in the alexa app and everything works again. Its extremely annoying, but I guess if I would have spent a little more I wouldnt have to reset my outlet every so often.

> 3 dayI use these with outdoor heated snow mats, which add up to nearly 15 amps so it handles a heavy load well. The iPhone app has many features and works well once set up, but getting it set up may require reviewing comments from other users 1st. There is an extra step to enable remote access (called Cloud access so they function when youre not on the same WiFi network, i.e. Cellular), and if you have multiple phones you want to control them with, you need to go through the setup process on each device. Once set up it does work well with Alexa/Echo, but again youll need to review the comments from prior users (Hint: Name the controller with a single word name otherwise Alexa/Echo wont see it) and if you have multiple switches the Alexa/Echo group feature allows you to easily turn them all on/off with a single command. Ive used the 1st for an entire season and purchased more for this year as I added more heated mats around the house.

> 3 dayTook forever to get it setup and working. I almost sent it back after trying everything from changing channels on my router, disabling other SSIDs in the area, trying to connect from both android and apple devices, finally I was able to get it to connect and now it seems to be working pretty solid. Very handy to be able to set the timer up from anywhere. Im using it for the block heater on my plow truck, and it works great.

> 3 dayBought this to operate a fountain in the backyard. The outlet it is plugged into is not particularly close to my inside wifi router, yet it receives the signal just fine. The app to operate this device works well, even if the UI is a bit eccentric. But all in all, I am very pleased.

> 3 dayWhile the instructions on this item suck, it does work! For anyone else that is trying to set this up, when it tells you to connect your device to the wifi, it ACTUALLY means to connect your cell phone to the WiOn device, via wifi. That means, when the device is blinking, go to your devices wifi settings and look for your WiOn device there. Select it and then it will let you connect to it, for the initial setup. Life would have been much simpler, if those instructions had been given up front. I had to figure it out on my own. Im using this to control a new fountain that I built and it works perfectly. I just tell Alexa to turn on the fountain and both the fountain and light come on right away.

Greater than one weekI got this item to control the outdoor ground/pathway lights in my backyard. I have and old power supply for the lights but all it can do is turn the lights on or off. I need adjustment for daylight savings time. So instead of buying a new power supply. I got one of these. It works great! I now plug the power supply into this and then into the outlet. The app is good and easy to set up. With the app there are many different options for turning lights on and off. I cant try the Alexa part of things because I dont have one. Sorry. Great product would buy again if need to.

> 3 dayBeing an engineer, I was disappointed that I could not get the device set up and resorted to calling customer support. The first person could not get it to work, so they connected me to someone else. I could not get it to connect to the device. The bottom line was that the customer support person says that it just does not work with some smart phones, and that I should try another one to get it set up. Trouble is I live alone. I will have to see if I can get another person to my house with a smart phone so I can connect the WION device to my router. These are the steps I took: 1. Plugged in the WION device. Blue light blinking. 2. Connected my Android cell phone to the WION WiFi signal. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4. 3. Started the WION app. It had a popup that said Looking for Router.... That is all it would do. Customer support said to click on the Plus sign to manually add it, but when I did that it would just beep at me with no other action. 4. This is a pain in the you know where!
