> 3 dayBought a few of these years ago and had a good experience. I bought another one to replace one but this one wouldn’t connect. Kept. “Looking for server” so I called customer service and they gave me some bs about “I’m level 2 and this requires a level 5 technician” I know the trick because I called several times and got the same responses. The trick is “when we bump you to level 5, it’s a $55 dollar one time fee”. Makes no sense- that’s more than I paid for the actual device and wreaks of fraud. I asked what they would do and one said they would connect to it and upload a patch to the device. But how can they upload to the device if I can’t connect to the device? Super disappointed and I ended up returning. The other 3 still work so I’m not putting 1 star but buyer beware now

> 3 dayI have had this working over the winter to turn on the outside lights on my patio. The construction of the outlet is pretty good, it connected right up and had zero issues working with the amazon alexa. The reason I gave it three stars is the app. The outlet has been deleted from the app 3 times already on it own. All of a sudden alexa says the device is not responding and it is because the outlet is no longer recognized as a device in Wions app. I have to go back out and set the outlet up again, then put it back in the alexa app and everything works again. Its extremely annoying, but I guess if I would have spent a little more I wouldnt have to reset my outlet every so often.

> 3 dayWorked great for a while, then we had to unplug and re-plug several times a week to get it to connect with Alexa. This week NONE of the 3 we have worked with Alexa and would not connect no matter what we tried. Checked the WiOn app and saw several people had the same problem starting THIS week. No longer compatible with Alexa. I ordered 3 OTHER brand plugs that I have had success with. LOOK ELSEWHERE!! If you are OK with just using the WiOn app it works fine. We bought specifically on the promise to work with Alexa. *UPDATE: Returned these plugs and purchased the Kasa plugs. SO easy to I install and work like a charm with Alexa! Also, BOTH plugs on each unit can be controlled separately. ( Not so with the WiOn plugs.)

> 3 dayThis is not a light sensitive plug. It works off of an app and it appears to use actual sunrise/sunset times. The app was a bit confusing to use when I wanted the lights to come on a dusk and stay on for a period of time. The app uses a start before/after a specific time as well as the stop time. This was a bit confusing at first but figured it out. Seems like the instructions could give you a hint and example of how to set it up for this type of situation.

> 3 daySome of these reviews are really bad. I guess its the same with most everything - people throw away instructions then cant figure out how to reconfigure. Dudes have all the time in the world to get on here and leave a bad review but not enough time to google how to fix their issue or search for instructions. Well Im here to buy a third one! These work great. I use the ECO Plugs smartphone app and Alexa. -BroSun

Greater than one weekI was looking for a smart switch that would work out on my patio for hanging lights in the summer and Christmas lights in the winter! The location it would be in would not be super exposed to the elements, but it wouldnt be fully protected either. So my guidelines were that it needed to be quality, interface with my Amazon Echo, interface with my Google Home, be safe to keep plugged in continuously, and perform without fail. Upon first opening the box you find that its of a very good quality and I didnt have any worries that it would be safe out on the porch. The device itself works flawlessly and I have yet to fail to respond to commands from the device app or from my Amazon Echo. Where it fails however is from my Google home, its not supported as you would expect unfortunately, but maybe in the future (hint hint Google!) The app that pairs with the device does what it needs to do, but with very little frills. The app is cheesy and kind of outdated looking, but it does offer basic on/off functionality as well as timers etc. One thing I want to point out as Ive noticed some people asking about it, both outlets are controlled at the same time, there is no on for one, off for the other. Overall, Im happy with the device itself, I knocked off 1 star just because it doesnt support Google Assistant and for the app, but dont let that hold you back, it does what it needs to do outdoors safely.

> 3 dayIt works fine when the device is close to the router, once you are a good distance from the router the wifi signal is not present. Given that this is an exterior plug it probably has better weather shielding compared to indoor models, that might decrease the effective range of the wifi. Had to return mine since it didnt serve my purpose, will stick with my programmable plug for now until better wifi is made available. Maybe incorporate an external antenna into the case design like a smartphone which might improve wifi reception?

> 3 dayGreat idea. Works great when finally working. The Good: I can control various outdoor lights with the 4 devices I purchased. with the wion app and alexa. Worked through the snow we received in NY this weekend. Now that they are set up I really like controlling and scheduling outdoor lighting from anywhere. The Bad: Set up was a nightmare. Part of it was because I have a big property and had to assign different wifi networks to different wion devices and always check which had the strongest signal. The biggest problem was the instructions and the app. Sometimes the app didnt find any wifi. Or the app went out of set up. Then my android phone asked me if I wanted to stay connected to the wion device. Because this step wasnt in the app, I ignored it and never connected. I spent fruitless time resetting the wion to factory setting to try to connect.. Finally I instructed my phone to stay connected to the wion device and then connected promptly to wifi. The device plugs into a receptacle with a very rigid 90 degree plug, which made it impossible to put 2 wion devices directly into one receptacle. Dont plan on using 2 wion on one receptacle. The cord is very short and stiff, so it is hard to position with the plugs down to avoid water entry into the plugs. There are 2 outlets on the device. 3 would be more sensible. Im using 5Watt LED lights so power draw isnt an issue. In addition, the rim around the outlets is close so big outdoor plugs are a tight fit. In brief, poor industrial design and installation instructions, but a great concept and it seems to work well.

> 3 dayThese wi-fi timers are easy to install and look elegant. The only one thing I noticed in its app, it take just a little bit time to figure out how to switch between one zone or circuit to another in case if you have two separate zones. For instance in my case, we have one timer serving backyard lights and the other timer that serves front yard lights. On the phone app, choosing and switching between the timers is bit clumsy. But once you know how to, its very easy to go from one to another. Its been a month I installed these. So far so good.

> 3 dayAfter wiring and installing low voltage lights around our backyard pool and spa, I wanted an easy way to turn them off when using the spa to see the night sky better. The low voltage transformer for the yard lights is on a side of the house not easily accessed from the backyard. A Google search for outdoor WiFi switch brought up this WiOn product and the description sounded perfect for what I needed. When I received it and set it up, it was exactly what I needed. Product was easy to install with the matching app and easy to use. On those cool, cloudless evenings when a soak in the spa with stargazing is the perfect ending to our day, I can easily switch the yard lights off from the pool with my phone. If I didnt have a dedicated, switched outlet for my outdoor Christmas lights, the WiOn switch is a great solution to add to an outdoor outlet to turn lights on and off from the comfort of your living room.
