> 3 dayFinally I got a nice laptop computer. It has everything I need and it is fast. I’m not a gamer so I can’t say much on that aspect, but if you need a laptop at an affordable price this is the way to go.

> 3 dayI liked that this is the perfect size for my desk. It is able to fit all the apps that I want on the computer. The only this is that you would have to add more file space (if you use a lot of files) or you could back it up. The screen quality is great there is even a setting where you could have it dim at night. The gaming part is good, but if you want cc for Sims 4 make sure you have file space/storage in your folders. I didnt have a touch screen on my computer.

Greater than one weekThe Acer 5 slim is sleek, beautiful, durable, lightweight, lightning fast (when upgraded to 16gb of ram), and has a ridiculously low price tag. It probably wouldnt be of much use for gaming or CAD, but for basic web browsing, office use, and video streaming, it will do well. I have added some pictures next to a macbook air for size comparison. The screen is bright and beautiful, offering 1080p resolution. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the keyboard lights up! I plan to use this laptop mainly to stream business news, news tickers, and follow several stocks on multiple tabs. For this reason, I knew the RAM upgrade would be necessary. This PC would likely be quite slow if you chose to keep the 4GB of RAM, as 2GB is shared memory. I would recommend at the very least adding another 4GB stick, as there is a slot available and a 4GB stick is quite cheap. I decided to add a second hard drive as well, 128GB is not much, if I recall correctly, only 98GB was available, and that was before any Windows updates!

> 3 dayThis is a surprisingly solid laptop. I was able to add a ssd in the empty expansion bay. Search on YouTube theres instructions on how. As well as another 4gb stick of DDR4 ram. Being able to upgrade a budget laptop to perform more like a mid-range laptop is always a plus. The laptop feels snappy and responsive. Applications boot up quickly. I strongly recommend disabling Windows S mode which isnt difficult. The speakers on this laptop are typical laptop speakers. Youll probably want to use a headset or external speakers.

> 3 dayI bought this product to use for grad school and work (I own an online business). I did install an additional 8gb ram card because of the reviews I saw before I purchased this laptop. The reasons I love it are the large display, the light weight, and the fact that I can easily run the basic programs I need to use on it. There are 2 cons that you may want to keep in mind: the sound and camera quality are not the best...maybe even terrible? I dont have to have the best camera quality and I use a speaker or headphones for the sound, so it doesnt bother me so much.

Greater than one weekPurchased Lapton from Amazon on 7/23/2019, not sure when I received the item, but total failure on laptop occurred on7/25/2020. Acer offers a one-year warranty. Contact customer service via chat, opened warranty claim, all was good, then I received an email denying the claim as I had bought this on 7/23/2019. Will never purchase an ACER nor recommend them. Even worse, they did not even offer to fix item for a fee. Does anyone want a paperweight?

> 3 dayGot this as a prime day deal at a great price, but its a nice deal even at the retail price. At minimum the memory should be upgraded to really make this a great machine, the cheapest upgrade is a single 4GB DDR4-2400 memory stick that would double the memory and enable dial channel operation for a nice performance boost. It works great with Linux as long as you stick with the latest kernels, the stock Debian/buster 4.19 kernel had some issues, but it works perfectly with the 5.2 kernel. Despite being a slim lightweight laptop with a large and bright screen, it is very easy to replace the memory and hard drive, unlike many recent premium laptops that are glued shut with non-removable components. The back cover can be easily removed to gain access to the memory and ssd. It comes with a 128GB NVMe x2 M.2 2280 WD SN520 SSD, that can be replaced with any 2280 NVMe ssd. Be aware though that only 2 PCIe lanes are connected, so any x4 ssd will run in x2 mode, limiting the bandwidth, but its still much faster than SATA based SSDs. There are 2 DDR4 SODIMM slots, one occupied by the 4GB stick that comes with the machine, but can be removed to install a bigger stick. The processor supports DDR4-2400 speeds. I have installed 2x8GB memory, and based on the measured memory bandwidth I can confirm that it operates in dual-channel mode. The machine also has an empty slot for a 2.5 drive, which is useful for those that need lots of cheap storage on board, but using that would reduce battery life. The processor is pretty fast, on par with Intel Core i3 netbooks, and the integrated Radeon graphics easily beats the integrated graphics in Intel chips, especially with the upgraded dual channel memory, but obviously this is not a gaming laptop.

> 3 dayI dont think this laptop is going to last me long. I bought this to replace an old Dell Latitude, and I have mixed feelings. When it works, its great. But the plastic frame is super flimsy and easily broken, particularly around the power cable connection. I think the plastic around the hole was cracked within a few weeks, and now I have a big crack running all the way to the Esc key in the top left. I had this problem with an old HP laptop, and after a couple of years it was just crunchy with cracks, and I think this one is going the same direction. Even sitting with it on my lap, I can see the plastic flex and the crack widen and narrow depending on how Im holding it.
