Good screen size but behaves funny when the laptop screen is up. It automatically changes resolution to the max stated. If laptop screen is down then resolution is max 1980x1200

I purchased this monitor before G-sync went live and fell deeply in love with the response rate and the 144hz speed. I am a professional gamer and play games that require twitch movement and speed. I went from a 70Hz 6ms Asus monitor to this whopping 144Hz 1ms monitor and I DEFINITELY notice a difference. From games such as Starcraft and CS:GO, this monitor provides you with the edge in game. I demand performance and this is exactly what it gave me and more. I installed G-Sync following the DIY tutorial on NVIDIAs web site. The installation was easy granted that I have experience dismantling and building computers and components. The overall installation only took 20 minutes for me and really improved my gaming performance. The twitch games such as CS:GO are the kind that I really saw a jump in improvement. The G-Sync along with the 1ms and 144Hz gave games such as BF4, Crysis, and CS:GO a great boost in fluidity and responsiveness. As stated before, my old monitor was 6 years old and this upgrade turned my whole life around. The responsiveness, cleanliness, and fluidity are very noticeable and give me more of an enjoyable gaming experience. I have even restarted various games such as Metro and Bioshock because the gameplay was that much more enjoyable with this monitor and with G-sync installed. If you are in the market for a gaming monitor that is G-sync capable, look no further. For the price you are getting a top-notch monitor with the capability of adding g-sync to really boost your experience. This is by far one of the most important parts of my gaming rig i have purchased and is one that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to get the most out of their computer and their gaming experience. I had an Asus 21 inch 60Hz monitor for five years before I upgraded to this. I game quite a bit and have never owned a monitor this nice. I have been slowly upgrading my weakest computer computers to some nicer spec gear and this finally hit my list. I have to say I have never used a 120 or 144hz monitor before this and the difference is like night and day to me coming from a 60hz monitor. I was on a budget when I initially built my computer but of all the components I cheaped out on I must urge you not to do that on your monitor. This monitor was only about 100$ more than the one I initially bought but it is easily worth 3x that in price compared to a standard 60hz monitor. I really didnt think there was that much of a difference until I tried it but I am never going back to a 60hz monitor. I thought my video card was just more dated than I wanted to admit but in reality I just couldnt see what my video card could actually do because my monitor wasnt fast enough to display it. I mainly play FPS games and there is no screen tearing anymore and I feel like I can respond faster to things on my screen since I can actually see them faster. This was one of the best single component computer upgrades I have ever bought. Also my original Asus monitor didnt fail, I just wanted to upgrade. I have had no issues with that one for over five years and this one has been functionally perfectly as well. I love the brand and would easily buy this product again or recommend it to anyone.

I purchased this to use in my office. It has clear pixel quality. Adjustable height and easy to configure sound adjustment (comes set at 50% sound capacity). Easy toggle blue light feature. This monitor will work great for office and streaming use.

Amazing response rate! This is the current top of the line for fast gaming . 144hz mode is great, but the real advantage is using 120hz mode with the lightboost trick. This trick eliminates basically ALL motion blur by syncing the backlight with pixel updates (so only correct images are displayed). This is at 120hz - so you get amazing response, no input lag, and no motion blur. Not sure how it can get any better than this as far as performance is concerned. One drawback is the color gamut. It is not top of the line, and probably worse than the average LCD panel in this price range. But that is the price to pay for its amazing performance specifications. Using the lightboost trick removes almost any calibration you can make to the monitor, so unfortunately theres not way to get both a great picture and great performance. The adjustable stand is great - lots of vertical movement, rotation (of the stand and monitor), and tilt. Not much downward tilt, so youll have to make sure your eyes are at least at the middle of the monitor in a natural position, but the monitor collapses to that its about 1 in off the the desk, so this shouldnt be problem in most situations. Havent used 3D on it yet (but the 3D features are required to do the lightboost trick). Theres a new technology coming out, Gsync, from nvidia that is the successor to the lightboost trick (since this isnt officially recognized by nvidia), but requires a hardware upgrade. So far, this is the only monitor that supports Gsync (with the upgrade), though im guessing more monitors will come out with it built in. For the price, you cannot get a better gaming monitor.

I scored this monitor on sale for $219.99 and WOW, what a great deal! If youre in the market for an affordable entry into the gaming monitor market, this is your ticket. Out of the box, the monitor leaves a little something to be desired, but with a little bit of my time, I was able to realize the full potential of this display by loading the monitors driver (from the included CD), an ICC color profile, and adjusting a few of the OSD settings. Just Google VG248QE Calibration for full details on how to do this. (NOTE: Its absolutely CRUCIAL that you check the Use Windows Display Calibration box in advanced settings when adding the ICC profile. This is what made the night-and-day difference for me): PROS: -144hz Refresh Rate (must use the provided Dual Link DVI cable and enable in Windows/your OS of choice) - Say goodbye to screen tearing in your games. Youll be able to see the difference immediately, right from your desktop. Window animations and transitions and scrolling through web pages is a silky smooth experience. Games look fantastic with zero screen tearing. -1ms Response Time - Its hard to find monitors with 1ms or the 144hz in this price range. I did not see any noticeable ghosting while playing games. -Highly adjustable base/stand - The stand on this thing is sturdy and allows you to adjust the height, tilt, and even rotate the display to portrait mode if thats your thing. The base also has a wheel type mechanism allowing you to easily swivel the monitor without scratching your desk. Theres a cable management tab on the back to help keep the ugly cables out of the way, and putting it together was simple with the thoughtful toolless screw on the base. -No dead pixels or noticeable light bleed - My unit did not have any dead pixels or noticeable light bleed. I always get some anxiety when buying a new monitor from this point alone, so it was nice to not have these issues. -3 Year ASUS Warranty - Havent had to take advantage of this yet, but its reassuring to know that ASUS stands behind their products Nice Bonus Features: -Nvidia 3D support - If you buy the glasses youll be able to use this feature in 3D supported games (3D movies do NOT work from what I understand). Havent been able to try it out myself, but may give it a go at some point. -Nvidia LightBoost - With a little time and extra software ([...]) you can trick this monitor into using the strobe effect used by Nvidia LightBoost (otherwise only used with the 3D feature out of the box) to give your monitor a CRT-like quality and completely eliminate any motion blur. Havent tried this myself yet, but sounds like an interesting feature to have for anyone into competitive multiplayer gaming or even just firing up some old emulated games. CONS: -TN Panel - This is pretty standard for gaming monitors to achieve the 144hz response, 1ms refresh, so its understandable. You can definitely notice with the viewing angles, but its really not as bad as some make it out to be. After calibrating the monitor, this pretty much became a non issue. -Glossy black finish/3D logo - Minor nit picking, but the monitor is almost definitely going to show dust and scratches. The giant 3D logo is printed on the base, so cant remove it, and overall kind of detracts from the otherwise good looking design.

Definitely the best monitor I have ever used. I would say this is tied with my mouse (deathadder 2013, huge upgrade from my s***ty stock mouse) as the best upgrade Ive gotten for my gaming setup so far. Even moving the cursor from this to my 60hz display on the side of it you can see noticable mouse lag. The 1ms input lag for this display, in addition to the 120hz and lightboost (greatest thing ever, incredibly clear movement) there is almost no lag at all in what youre seeing. I play competitive tf2 in the esea, and I can pretty safely say this has let me improve a lot. Though I was decently good before I got this, I feel like I have a MUCH better visability and grasp of movement/aiming with this. Its really like going from a tiny little SD television to a giant flat screen HD, everything is so much clearer and visible. The one downside I have found is the colors and scan lines. Without lightboost the colors are great, you can find a couple sites with drivers and special settings to use for this monitor, however with lightboost on everything is washed out and purple tinted. Ive gotten used to it but it may be a surprise at first. Ive been using the program flux which changes the color temperature by time of day to try and offset this and it looks much mroe natural now. With lightboost as well you can see visable scan lines across the screen. You can probably look up google images or threads about it to see examples. Im not sure if mine is just faulty or all of them do this but it is not that big of a deal, unless you have the monitor right in front of your face. Love the adjustable height and swivel, power button is really easy to hit haha and the built in timers and crosshairs are pretty cool.

This is my 3rd ASUS monitor. The first two were purchased years ago for a dual screen setup. This was my first experience with a 144hz monitor (the previous monitors were only 60hz) and all I can say is What a difference! Games were fantastic with my GPU set to 144hz refresh rate. Fast scrolling through webpages looks like Im literally moving a long piece of paper. The page isnt choppy at all. I wish I would have had the funds to go 1 step further and get the 4k monitor from ASUS. The stand is great. Easy height adjustment with just slight pressure up or down. Plenty of tilt and rotation as well as being able to rotate the monitor vertically 90 degress which would be great for coding. It seems quite stable as monitors go as well.If you get any wobble from typing/gaming its probably due to the quality of the desk it sits on and not the stand. Mine doesnt move even a little on my desk. If it matters, the buttons are on the bottom (my previous ASUS monitors were this way as well). The big difference with these buttons is that the power button is more protruded than the others (both the buttons on this monitor and the buttons previously used by ASUS) and it lights up which combined makes it easy to locate by both feel and sight. Switching between view settings is easy. It comes with pre-set views optimized for different uses. Or you can customize it to whatever you would like. If you dont have your heart set on 4k or the AMD/Nvidia plugins, you will not go wrong with this monitor. Its a great buy and I highly recommend ASUS monitors for their price/performance.

I purchased this monitor on April 10th, 2014 and received it on April 17th. Im going to go over what I liked and do not like about it. I owned a Ben-Q XL2420T 120HZ monitor prior to this unit, so I will be comparing both of them according to performance and price. First Ill talk about 144hz compared to 60hz for those who do not know: 144Hz is a way of describing how many times the image on your monitor refreshes every second. 60hz means that the image you see on your monitor is relayed from your computer to your monitor 60 times per second, and 144hz means 144 times per second. Basically you see more then double the amount of information your graphics card is processing with a 144hz monitor compared to a 60hz monitor. NOTE: If you are looking to purchase this monitor for console gaming, there are better alternatives. You will not be able to utilize the 144hz feature. Consoles only put out 30-60 frames per second, so a 60Hz monitor is all you need. Now on to the review Pros- -144 Hz is amazing. There is no ghosting when making fast movements in high action games. The increased amount of frames you are able to see gives you an extremely good edge against your opponent. -Perfect screen size for me. The 24 inch screen allows me to have a good field of view in the games that I play so I dont miss valuable information, but isnt so large that I need to constantly scan with my eyes to be aware of the image on the screen. -Good physical size. The circular base of the stand measures roughly 9 inches, so it doesnt take up more desk space than it needs. -PRICE!!!!!!! I paid about 500 USD for my Ben-Q XL2420T. This monitor has 24 more Hz than the benq, similar build quality, and costs about half as much. At 279.99, this is the best monitor I have ever purchased. Cons- -The colors out of the box are a little bland, but with proper tweaking I found color settings that worked well for the games I play. All in all, this is an amazing monitor, the price is right, the features are worth more to me than the price. 5 stars.

Since I dont buy games for $60 when they are released (I wait until they come down to a reasonable price on Steam), I dont have any current gen games. Therefore, most of my [older gen] games at max settings run above 60 fps on my gaming rig, putting this monitors high refresh rate to good use. I must have poor vision or something, because I do not have any complaints about the color that everyone seems to be going on and on about. I own several monitors of different panel types (IPS, VA, TN) and this one does not seem to be significantly inferior to any of them. But then again, I am an audiophile rather than somebody who knows much about color. PROS: I dont need to repeat what others have written. You may want to read this article about refresh rate before purchasing: maximumpc.com/refresh_rate_2013. You can probably trick yourself into thinking that 144Hz actually makes a difference (much like a placebo effect). CONS: [1] the speakers. ASUS should have just not bothered. They can make a nasty whine depending on what is onscreen, so youd better plan on using headphones or some other alternative to the speakers. [2] cable length. The money that ASUS spent on adding the speakers should have been put towards longer ones (both the DVI cable and the power cord were so short that I had to change my desk setup to accommodate them). Obviously these are not cons that are enough to knock a star off the total score for the monitor, as you can simply buy a longer cable and not use the speakers.
