Good screen size but behaves funny when the laptop screen is up. It automatically changes resolution to the max stated. If laptop screen is down then resolution is max 1980x1200

The screen is easy to put together, has all the eye care, and brightness features you’d expect from a monitor today. Also the refresh rate is so good, I often forget it’s only a 1080 screen

If youre a gamer and youre looking for a monitor, dont look any further; from one gamer to another: buy this, you will not regret it. Dont gimp your high performance setup and expensive hardware with a 60Hz monitor. If youre running current top-end GPUs and pushing frame rates over 60 FPS, if your refresh rate doesnt match your frame rate, youre going to have issues. The biggest thing Id like to push is the fact this monitor is not only built for gamers, it also looks amazing, do not in any way be dissuaded by reviews stating this monitor looks horrible, or has bad color. The capability for adding 3D and Nvidia G-Sync is also a great option to have. Ive seen some reviews on various websites that state this monitor looks washed out and other such cons, but Ive seen no such issues. Out of the box stock settings admittedly look bad; however these are just OEM default settings. A few minutes spent in the menu tweaking contrast, brightness, color correction etc., gets this monitor looking absolutely gorgeous. Some people recommend downloading ICC color profiles and jumping through hoops to try and make this look good. Bottom line: it isnt necessary. If you want to follow one of those guides, download a color profile and do all that, its your choice. But honestly, in less than 5 minutes you can have this monitor adjusted to your liking and looking great on your own just by adjusting some menu options. I used a Envy 17-3D gaming laptop for years with HPs LCD-LED display,and this Asus blows it out of the water by a country mile. I cant understand why some people write bad reviews for an item without fully testing it out first, and at the very least adjusting menu options. I paid $250 for this, and for a monitor under 300 dollars, I couldnt be more impressed with the features, and the visual quality. This is a gaming monitor built with gamers in mind. The vast majority of bad reviews stating this is a monitor with bad visuals are from people wanting to compare a $250 TN panel meant for gaming with monitors not built for gaming and 3 times the price. This monitor boasts a 144Hz refresh, 1ms GTG lag, amazing contrast ratio, availability for G-Sync & 3D upgrades, Gameplus features built in and other gamer-centric features. Comparing this to IPS monitors with only 60 Hz refresh rates, 10+ms GTG, input lag and cost anywhere from $500 dollars to well over $1,000, is far from correct. On top of being an amazing gaming monitor that will show no ghosting, artifacting or screen tearing and built in features for gamers, for a TN panel monitor this looks amazing. In my opinion during routine everyday PC use, and for gaming, youll see no noticeable difference in color and visual performance with this TN panel than you will higher priced lower performance IPS monitors. Finding a monitor that does gaming well, as well as have great visuals is a hard find, but this does it and it does it for a great price. The 24 monitor is large enough that you get a great view, yet not so large you have to constantly move your head side to side to see everything, or have to sit far away from the monitor just to get it all in your field of view. It has a good solid base, and a bracket for cable management on the back of monitor. The monitor swivels, it tilts, it pivots, it has height adjustment and you can flip the monitor for either a page orientation of 16:9 widescreen or a portrait orientation. So no matter your setup or how you sit at your PC, this monitor can be set for maximum comfort and best viewing. ** IMPORTANT: First, be sure your GPU has a DisplayPort I/O so you are able to use a DP cable to connect this to your GPU if you want the full range of performance this monitor offers. *DO NOT USE* HDMI or DVI with this monitor! If you use HDMI or DVI with this screen, you will not be getting or seeing the performance you paid for. Neither HDMI nor DIV/DVI-D are capable of full HD at more than 60 FPS (60Hz). The majority of the reason for going with this monitor is the superior 144Hz refresh, 1ms GTG, and no discernible input lag. Thus allowing high FPS with no graphical issues. If you want to be able to use your monitor at 144Hz, if you want to be able to run 100+ FPS and not suffer blurring, ghosting, artifacting, or screen tearing, and you want the best viewing experience and performance, DisplayPort MUST be used. This monitor only comes packaged with a DVI-D cable and audio cable, and does not come packaged with a DisplayPort cable; so be sure to pick up a VESA certified DisplayPort along with this monitor.

This is my 3rd ASUS monitor. The first two were purchased years ago for a dual screen setup. This was my first experience with a 144hz monitor (the previous monitors were only 60hz) and all I can say is What a difference! Games were fantastic with my GPU set to 144hz refresh rate. Fast scrolling through webpages looks like Im literally moving a long piece of paper. The page isnt choppy at all. I wish I would have had the funds to go 1 step further and get the 4k monitor from ASUS. The stand is great. Easy height adjustment with just slight pressure up or down. Plenty of tilt and rotation as well as being able to rotate the monitor vertically 90 degress which would be great for coding. It seems quite stable as monitors go as well.If you get any wobble from typing/gaming its probably due to the quality of the desk it sits on and not the stand. Mine doesnt move even a little on my desk. If it matters, the buttons are on the bottom (my previous ASUS monitors were this way as well). The big difference with these buttons is that the power button is more protruded than the others (both the buttons on this monitor and the buttons previously used by ASUS) and it lights up which combined makes it easy to locate by both feel and sight. Switching between view settings is easy. It comes with pre-set views optimized for different uses. Or you can customize it to whatever you would like. If you dont have your heart set on 4k or the AMD/Nvidia plugins, you will not go wrong with this monitor. Its a great buy and I highly recommend ASUS monitors for their price/performance.

Ok first of all I only got this monitor because it had a 120+ refresh rate and was affordable after the first fact. It definitely has a refresh rate of 120+ but the problem is, if your processor and graphics card do not support higher resolutions and higher refresh rate, then this monitor wont matter. BE SURE YOU CHANGE THE SETTINGS TO 144 refresh rate in Monitor settings. If you dont, it wont do it automatically. So once you buy it and it doesnt go higher than 60 its set to do less. So next if your computer does support higher refresh rate processor and graphics card then it should be fine but if you are like me who wants to SEE this refresh rate and never EVER want to SEE any lag? Then I would suggest buying this as a backup plan. Buy a monitor like a BenQ or something if you dont want to be slightly -even a hairs difference- disapointed. This monitor supports high refresh rate but I still see lag every other few seconds on games like Sims and Guild Wars 2. But my First Person Shooters are golden on this monitor its just games that have sudden bursts of activity like World versus world on guild wars that I see slight bouts of lag. This is NOT completely a monitor issue, it may also be the processor moving slowly because I stopped overclocking for a slight moment to reduce energy. You never know. But this monitor is absolutely awesome in a nutshell. You can adjust it any time you wish, and people think this is a problem to keep adjusting. I love it. Sometimes Im leaning and sometimes I sit straight. My monitor adjusts to my fit from left to right high and low. Lastly, the best part about this monitor is the refresh rate, and if you are a hard-core gamer its a great start. If you have the money then go all out, if not then this monitor is way better than you will ever find for the specs and low price.

Im so glad my friend talked me into buying a high quality monitor for gaming. I never considered a monitor to really make much of a difference in display quality but I cant describe the difference between this and a budget monitor. The 144Hz is what I originally bought it for but the deep contrast and colors this thing offers is amazing. Unfortunately that isnt apparent without some work. The display settings out of the box are atrocious. I spent a good deal of time tweaking the settings and got to a point that I thought was acceptable, and let me tell you, ASUS couldnt make the menu navigation more unintuative if they tried. I was beginning to regret my investment a little for a while. If the colors werent bleeding, they were washed out. I had a hard time getting a good value range. The blacks just werent black enough. The whites were dull. Finally I found the settings that worked for me (almost as much as I worked for it) and I couldnt be happier. I am wowed every time I open a game. For those of you who have bought this and are struggling to find the right settings, what finally ended up working for me was just the default scenery mode setting with the sharpness set to 50. If colors seem too saturated just live with it a while and see if you change your mind. I was too used to cheap monitors to appreciate the color range at first. If youre not sure that you have the right settings try holding a magazine or textbook photo next to your monitor in a well lit room. Also try asking yourself these questions: Do you have a good value range? You want your blacks truly black and your whites nice and bright. You shouldnt be able to describe either one as gray. Is your color contrast good? Can you clearly see subtle differences in similar colors? Do textures stand out properly? Are your colors washed out? This monitor can get super bright but dont let that trick you into thinking whitened colors are okay. The colors can get deep and vibrant as well. Do your colors bleed? This most obvious around text. Dark colored text should not have a whitened border around it. Similarly, bright text should appear to be a single distinguishable color. Otherwise your sharpness is likely too high. This is also possible if you notice extra pixels around text. In the end Im incredibly satisfied with this monitor. Its just a shame I had to do so much experimentation to bring out its potential.

I order two of these monitors and I am more than satisfied. If youre in the market for a good 1080p monitor for gaming this is it, especially FPS games. That is assuming you have a video card setup than can make use of the 144Hz refresh rate. Even for fast paced action movies these monitors are great as your image stays clear even in the fastest of action scenes. I really noticed a huge difference in BF3 game play but like most people say not so much with non-FPS games. Sure its better for everything but not as noticeable out side of an FPS gaming. I read a lot of reviews on this monitor before my purchase and there were a lot of complaints about the colors being horrible. Well, they look just fine to me, maybe not the best but accurate enough at the very least if youre not OCD about it. I have mine set in Standard Mode, TraceFree 80, Color Temp Normal, and dropped the brightness to 80 and see zero problems with my colors. Theyre better than my previous monitors and far better than a lot of other monitors I have seen in my day. Something to note though, if you do not have a video card with two DVI connectors like myself, remember to buy the appropriate DisplayPort cable so you can run multiple monitors at 144Hz. It will not run at 144Hz off of an HDMI connection. You need to run it off of DVI with the supplied Dual Link DVI cables or buy DisplayPort cables separately for 144Hz. Couldnt be happier with my purchase as these monitors have a great feature set and require just a few minutes of browsing through the settings to tweak things to your liking. :)

Since I dont buy games for $60 when they are released (I wait until they come down to a reasonable price on Steam), I dont have any current gen games. Therefore, most of my [older gen] games at max settings run above 60 fps on my gaming rig, putting this monitors high refresh rate to good use. I must have poor vision or something, because I do not have any complaints about the color that everyone seems to be going on and on about. I own several monitors of different panel types (IPS, VA, TN) and this one does not seem to be significantly inferior to any of them. But then again, I am an audiophile rather than somebody who knows much about color. PROS: I dont need to repeat what others have written. You may want to read this article about refresh rate before purchasing: maximumpc.com/refresh_rate_2013. You can probably trick yourself into thinking that 144Hz actually makes a difference (much like a placebo effect). CONS: [1] the speakers. ASUS should have just not bothered. They can make a nasty whine depending on what is onscreen, so youd better plan on using headphones or some other alternative to the speakers. [2] cable length. The money that ASUS spent on adding the speakers should have been put towards longer ones (both the DVI cable and the power cord were so short that I had to change my desk setup to accommodate them). Obviously these are not cons that are enough to knock a star off the total score for the monitor, as you can simply buy a longer cable and not use the speakers. I am amazed at this monitors quality and specs. There is a reason I waited forever to get this monitor. I literally was on a waiting list for a month and the date on mine is January and I purchased this in March 2015. My main thing is gaming with a high end single gpu video card, so I wanted a monitor to take care of that. This thing delivers with the 144hz refresh rate. The colors were washed out, but a single download of the ICC profile and this thing has beautiful color. Simply google VG248QE ICC and you will find what your looking for. I would not take an good 60hz IPS monitor over this simply because of the 1ms GTG and 144hz. That should speak for itself if your a gamer like I am. Also I want give Asus credit on the monitor stand for this. It is superb design with its horizontal swivel, height adjustment, and vertical swivel. If your an enthusiast who is looking at this monitor, then this has the right amount of specs to make you happy. The only con I can think of right now is the lack of peripherals for connection. You do not get any HDMI (which will not give 144hz refresh) or display port (high refresh rate). I had to purchase my display port cable separate which isnt a big deal, but at least I got a 3ft Dvi cable with this monitor to at least use until my display port cable arrives. The included Dvi cable will provide that 144 hz refresh rate if your video card does not have display port.
