The colors are very vibrant, but do require some tweaking if you want to have the full experience out of the potential this monitor gives. Id suggest either: Toms Hardware recommended OSD settings for the Asus VG248QE. Asus VG248QE Calibration Settings Value Splendid Mode Standard Contrast 80 Brightness 35 Color Temp User RGB Red 96 / Green 94 / Blue 88 Or PC Monitors TEST OSD settings for the Asus VG248QE. Asus VG248QE Calibration Settings Value Splendid Mode Theater Mode Sharpness 40 (eliminates some minor fringing on text – also use ClearType) Contrast 43 (default contrast in this preset gives major shade crushing) Brightness 54 (according to preferences and lighting) Color Temp User RGB Red 100 / Green 95 / Blue 93 PC Monitors recommended OSD settings for the Asus VG248QE. (with the ICC profile loaded) Or Asus VG248QE Calibration Settings Value Splendid Mode Standard Mode Contrast 75 Brightness 24 (gave 160 cd/m2 on our unit, adjust as required) Color Temp User RGB Red 100 / Green 90 / Blue 89 All it really is, is a matter of preference. But hey, you may like the default colors out of packaging! Now moving on to Hertz. Dont listen to people who say going from 60 to 144hz makes no difference, or little difference. Those are the people who dont know what theyre talking about, but you do need the rig to push the 60 fps wall. And yes, if you are wondering, going from 120hz from 144hz does make quite the significant difference, at least in my personal opinion. To conclude this review -144hz is a very nice touch -Colors are vibrant with some fine tuning -The adjustable stand is pretty neat too :3

CONS: Nearly flawless for gaming implementation. Only issue I take with this monitor is that I purchased two of these and I can never quite get the colors to be the same between them and the backlighting varies ever so slightly even if you use the exact same OSD settings. I had to manually tweak both of them to match their colors using two different profiles. It seems that theres a fair amount of color variance between them and the black levels are admittedly not great. PROS: That being said the rest of the monitor is amazing. 144hz is a step up to which I will never go away from. Response time on these are amazing and 24 is a size which you can really lay out on a desk really well without feeling overwhelmed by bezels that are too large. The spring loaded stands these come with are slick and also the potential for 3D viewing is a little plus, although most the utility in this screen comes from playing high octane FPS MMOs and MOBAs. This display really flatters a really good video card and the higher-visuals games with well optimized multiplayer and with heavy and smooth particle effects like Overwatch, HoTS, BF4, BF1, or Dota 2. Im unsure if 144hz would directly impact either CSGO or League of Legends graphically besides input latency, and neither are very graphically intensive (both which I play and although FPS is smoother I cant say it really changes the experience). For single player games I really enjoyed BioShock Infinite, Witcher 3, and Titanfall 2 at 144hz (GeForce 1080). If you play early-access games such as PubG, ARK or Rust you may not see as much (or any) graphical change in 144hz as their games are not very well optimized in FPS for the screen to benefit you, unless you are running a multiple GPU Crossfire or SLI setup such as a 2x GeForce 1080 Tis to get your FPS consistently over 100+.

Monitor is good, REALLY nice quality the 144hz is insane. I can somewhat notice the 1ms response time, the color is good once you calibrate it, Im not sure why people are complaining so much about the colors, make sure you turn down the brightness and read up on some calibration settings online. The problems I have with this monitor: I chose 2 day shipping and UPS was trying to make it 4 day shipping without my knowledge, I got it sorted out though. Another problem I have is that the sound is really almost nothing, its not useable for music/gaming, just things like steam notifications, which is still nice in a way and dont let this get in the way of you buying it. Theres nothing wrong with the monitor at all besides that sound problem that almost no one cares about. If you are looking into getting better at games like CS:GO, get it, it will make you better, but dont expect to get global with it ;). This is also REALLY useful for anyone who does twitch streaming, the quality is so nice and people will want to stay in your channel because your stream quality is going to be HIGHLY superior to those 60hz people (look at steel_tv). Also make sure to buy this over the BenQ one, this looks nicer in terms of how casual it looks on the exterior, yet still packed with all those features. The BenQ looks straight up neckbeard-like, hard to explain, but it just has so much emphasis on the GAMING part of the design. If you are thinking about getting this monitor, stop thinking, its one of the best you can get. EDIT: somehow the volume is fixed, not sure how, changed to 5 stars!

    Greater than one week

This is my review after almost 3 years, purchased this on march/april(?) 2016 and have these as a triple monitor setup since that day. I should note that when I originally purchased the 3, one of them had a poor lit panel which I returned for a replacement within a week. 3 years later I have not had a single problem with these monitors- display wise. The ergonomic base/adjusting was a little bit of an issue when setting the 3 monitors side by side in a little bit of an arc formation. The issue which is ridiculous to remedy is that because of all of the adjustment options in all directions, its almost impossible to get all monitors perfectly even but Ive learned to live with it over time because unless you go all out and use a level to get things perfectly horizontal and plumb, they will be small inconsistencies. This however is the nature of these super adjustable bases. The refresh rate of 144hz as well as 1ms response time was actually a blessing in disguise I did not realize until I purchased a separate 28 75hz 5ms monitor recently which I almost instantly regret. If you are not looking for a 4k panel, then 144hz and at most 1ms response time is almost required for gaming. Even single player games, rotating the camera around is so fluid and clean, on the other 75hz panel it hurts my eyes because of the blur/disfiguration from moving the camera. Now the other debate is whether to go 24 or 27/28. The picture on the 24 is going to be a little more dense and compact for lack of a better term because of the smaller screen. The larger screen may have slightly pixelate the image which I noticed on my recently purchased viotek 27 75hz monitor. I know its not the same quality and screen as this but for still images, the difference is noticable especially after getting used to 24 panels. If you dont know what I am talking about go look at a 55 or larger tv on 1080p resolution at a electronics store. The image gets stetched out the larger you go. All things aside, I cant find myself replacing these monitors anytime soon unless 2 or more die at the same time. The quality for its time has been great and still holds up today. I should probably also mention that pc speakers are almost always terrible when compared to an actual external sound speaker system so that should never be a factor in deciding on a monitor. Nowadays alot of people want the low bezel monitors (main reason why I purchased that 27 for another room) but In my experience those have been plauged with more problems (asus included) than panels such as this. While I would like smaller bezels nowadays, its not worth replacing this just for a trend which will either change or be further improved later on. Not sure if already mentioned but no dead pixels either which was a surprise since I thought after a year I was going to get a couple. Good job on these asus lol.

This monitor is a great one, I cant deny that. Id give five stars all around but I bought this monitor in February (2020) and in May (2020) I already had 2 dead pixels. It is now October and I still only have those dead pixels, and I hardly notice them. Was just very odd that I got a brand new monitor and within 2 months already had dead pixels. I didnt write a review sooner as I wanted to see if it would get worse but so far it has not. 2nd issue is that randomly when my monitor turns on from sleep mode im met with a screen of static. I can easily fix this by pressing the power button on the monitor then turning it back on, but this issue does happen a couple times a week for no apparent reason. Id definitely say its a good monitor besides those two things. Very bright, great for gaming, good response time.

This is the best monitor I have ever owned , My previous monitor was only 60 HZ with 1ms responce time ,My computer I put together is above average running a 8 core processor 32 GB memory EVGA motherboard ,EVGA 2070 gaming GPU and 2-TB solid state sansung , I used a high Quality display cable to connect from monitor to GPU and I have logged about 12 hours of game play with this monitor , playing Assassin Creed valhalla and its absolutly the best I have ever had , great colors very smooth and clear , I never knew how much vegatation is in this game till now , One of the things I used to struggle with are the stupid tattos you have to chase , Well not any more I captured like three of them in about ten minutes , they are a lot easier to see and follow now , Combat and everything else is much better , I read a lot of negative reviews about the color , But this monitor has great color for my setup , I have no complaints , early mornings /high noon /afternoons and night all are very real , Cloud cover /sunshine/ rain /fog/wind/ fire /smoke/sunrise/sunset all great on my build , I may just be lucky , But I am happy with this monitor ! Have a nice day and good luck !
