The screen is so bright it makes the colors pop. My old monitor has clouding issues and man, I was missing so much by not upgrading earlier. Maybe I can get a replacement screen for my older monitor so that my eyes will be better off.

Since I dont buy games for $60 when they are released (I wait until they come down to a reasonable price on Steam), I dont have any current gen games. Therefore, most of my [older gen] games at max settings run above 60 fps on my gaming rig, putting this monitors high refresh rate to good use. I must have poor vision or something, because I do not have any complaints about the color that everyone seems to be going on and on about. I own several monitors of different panel types (IPS, VA, TN) and this one does not seem to be significantly inferior to any of them. But then again, I am an audiophile rather than somebody who knows much about color. PROS: I dont need to repeat what others have written. You may want to read this article about refresh rate before purchasing: maximumpc.com/refresh_rate_2013. You can probably trick yourself into thinking that 144Hz actually makes a difference (much like a placebo effect). CONS: [1] the speakers. ASUS should have just not bothered. They can make a nasty whine depending on what is onscreen, so youd better plan on using headphones or some other alternative to the speakers. [2] cable length. The money that ASUS spent on adding the speakers should have been put towards longer ones (both the DVI cable and the power cord were so short that I had to change my desk setup to accommodate them). Obviously these are not cons that are enough to knock a star off the total score for the monitor, as you can simply buy a longer cable and not use the speakers. Overall, you get much for the price. my gaming rig: Intel i5 4670K OCd @ 4.2 GHz ASUS Gryphon Z87 mobo Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz EVGA GeForce GTX 760 2GB ASUS VG248QE 24 144Hz LED

Ive had 1 of these for a few years and the color finally became less yellow due to aging or something. I really noticed this cuz when I got another to match the other due to Windows being crap about 2 monitors with different refresh rates, the new one was VERY noticeably more yellow than my old original one. Im not sure if itll help but Ive put discord light theme on it and have shut off screen sleep and hopefully in a week or 2 the yellow tint will go away. Im not sure how long it took for the other cuz I never really noticed that itd gotten better till I got the new one. Also I dont know if it was cuz of a bad built in HDMI splitter on the Hauppauge Colossus 2 capture card, or just the fault of the monitor, but I had an incident where there was a blue line through the screen and nothing would fix it until I completely unplugged the monitor from the wall. Now it works fine for the most part except when my computer is off for days at a time. I was out of town for almost 2 weeks and came back and the monitor was not getting a signal until I completely killed all power. Ive had to do this multiple times, I guess it could be a bad capacitor or something Im no electronics expert. Just if you have blue lines or no signal even though you are sure there should be just unplug for about 10 seconds and it should be fixed. Just hitting the power switch will not do however.

Game Monitor If you get it for the normal price. This monitor is excellent. Pros: 3 year Warranty 144hz + Tracefree Technology Adjustable Stand 144hz capable with DVI-D or Display Cable. Monitor Digital Vibrance (Saturation) Excellent clarity Cons: Colors when using 144hz. Theres no nice way to say, the colors suck by default. You can tweak it but it will take sometime to find exactly what you like. The nice thing though is depending on the profile you select, you can up digital vibrance on the monitor it self. It makes console games look amazing. PS4, Wii U, and Xb1 looks great, But remember, Consoles only use 60hz or lower depending on the game. If you google this monitor you will find a reddit with a bunch of different colors and profiles to try. Motion Sickness: I found this monitor was making me slightly motion sick. Im not use to see 144 FPS in pc games so it was messing with me a little. I expect this will go away shortly as it was slowly getting better over time while using it last night. Final Thoughts: Personally, I love this monitor. I bought it mainly for the 144hz for CS:GO and some other games on PC. The colors arent nearly as close to my 27 LED Viewsonic monitor but I knew that going into it. The monitor is great for competative gaming and for console gaming as well. Even though its only 24, if your playing a game at a desk like I am, it works perfect. If your looking for a monitor to do graphic design or you care a lot about colors, get an IPS screen. This is a TN panel after all. its meant for gaming, and thats pretty much it. Ive used BenQ monitors in the past and they are very nice, but honestly, this monitor is just as good if not better for some. BenQ is like the Apple brand of monitors. Its a big name and everyone loves them but they are also elistest with it as well. Go for whats cheaper and you will not be sorry.

i love that it looks so good 2 hdmi slots and 1 display port 1 for wired headphones its exactly what it says high frame rate with very sharp image without losing anything i leave it on adaptive frame rate because i hear bad news about g sync often very good for the price.

Clean install of Windows 10 w/ an EVGA 2080TI had random display freezing issues. The exact same system ran w/o issues on 3 BenQ monitors. Upgrading to Windows 11 did not address the issue. These ASUS displays (3 of them) would appear frozen but the Windows Event log would show that the computer was running just fine. I tried swapping out the graphic card, DP cables (bought thicker gauges, shorter lengths, w/ propper pinning), lowered refresh rates, and did the whole dance of making sure the latest chipset/graphics card/etc. drivers were installed. After a few weeks of trying different things, disabling G-Sync cured the issue. Not sure if it is because there is no driver for the display, I have too many connected (3), or what. It is disappointing, but at a 165hz refresh rate, I dont know if disabling G-Sync will matter. Also, these monitors seem to take a slightly longer time to wake from sleep compared to my other 3-monitor setup using BenQ monitors. Which could also be a difference. The control scheme on the back of the monitor is not ideal for multiple monitor setups. Controls that run along the bottom edge or along the front bezel are preferred. The controls on this monitor are on the right back side which makes the middle and left monitor in a 3-head setup, hard to get to. After initial setup, it wont matter much unless you are the kind of person who actually swaps monitor modes based on what you are doing. Other than that, the monitors seem great. High refresh rates (165hz), color scheme, etc.

Well... To start off, heres what came in my box (as of July 8, 2017) 1x DVI Dual Link Cable (DONT USE THIS GARBAGE CABLE THAT COMES WITH THE MONITOR!! More info down below) 1x ASUS VG248QE Monitor 1x ASUS VG248QE Monitor Drivers CD (Im not exactly sure what this is, but its in the box! lol) 1x Audio Cable 1x Power Cable 1x Manual Actual monitor review: I have owned this monitor for exactly a month! Its definitely the cheapest 144Hz monitor that you will find at this price range (as of this review it is fluctuating around $250). If you are coming from a 60Hz monitor then you will definitely be able to see the difference. (Its life changing! No more strain on the eyes!) The way the monitor is built is also outstanding. You can turn it in all directions possible! The vertical height of this monitor is astounding, and turning it horizontally is a breeze with the lazy susan type of thing it sits on. I really only have two issues with this monitor, and both of the issues can easily be resolved. My first issue would be that the ENTIRE monitor is a glossy finish which results in a lot of fingerprints and visible dust collection, but that isnt a issue with the monitor, more on personal preference. My other issue is that when you first get this monitor plugged in and ready to go and turn it on, your eyes will bleed. The colors that this monitor is preset to is awful. The presets that they have in the menu option are also awful. It hurt my eyes when I first turned it on and configuring it to get it to a usable color saturation was difficult as this monitor really favors yellow hues (at least in my opinion). But the color issue I fixed within the first hour of owning it so no biggie! Some tips and tricks if you have issues with your monitor (Such as a flickering red pixel problem like me): I suggest that when you receive your monitor to go and check for dead pixels (just type in dead pixel test in Google). I did this when I first got it and it was clear for dead pixels, yay! My reason for 4 stars though is because exactly after a month (the time you get to refund an item no questions asked on Amazon) I got flickering red pixels on my screen when I watched videos or played games!! Yikes!! That freaked me out! I thought I was out $250, lol. Google is my best friend though and I passionately looked and hoped for a fix to flickering red pixels. Most of the solutions were to check my GPU. Everything was already updated though and at this point I was pretty sad. Then I saw a solution which was try switching out the DVI Cable. I thought this was so stupid but at the same time so brilliant! (Or maybe I thought it was stupid because I didnt even think of doing that at first...hehe) I used the cable that came with the box originally. I just went out to my local electronics store and picked up a DVI dual link cable and BOOM! No more flickering red pixels!!! So I would definitely say DO NOT use the cable that comes with the box. It will give you a very big headache and a sense of impending doom... I hope this review helped!
