I just sold a year-old Miele C3 to get this and Im glad. The Dyson seems to have better suction power on hardwood and carpet. Its cordless too. That was my biggest gripe about the Miele. Its corded and the cord is SHORT. You had to pay extra for a sensibly-long cord...LOL. Another thing with the Miele is that it rolls on 3 wheels. Id often find it rolling over on its side. Oh, and it used bags too. I didnt bother reading the directions with the Dyson. It was easy to assemble and easy to use. The motorized unit connects to the tube wand and that connects to the actual vacuum attachment that is on the floor. It powers on with one button. Clean-out was just a matter of a simple, physical button as well. The only thing that could be improved is the width of the vacuum attachment so you can clean more area per swoop/glide. That wasnt a deal-breaker for me and Im glad I spent the money on the V11

Ive never had a cordless vacuum before. Ive had a corded Dyson for several years, and it was time to get a new one. I did my research, and landed on the V11 Animal. There are other versions of the V11 that just have more attachments, but I know Im only going to use 2 or 3 of them, anyway, so this one was perfect. Im impressed how long the battery lasts. I almost bought the V11 Outsize, because of it having 2 batteries, but I figured that the area I need to vacuum wasnt that big, and one battery would probably work just fine. I was right. Im vacuuming about 1800 sq ft, with a mix of tile and carpet, and the battery indicator didnt even go down. There are 3 bars of battery life. I figured it would at least go down to 2 by the time I had finished, but all 3 were still lit. I do have more tile than carpet, and on auto mode, it does automatically use lower power for the tile and higher power for the carpet, and the couch. This thing is great. I was a bit worried that the smaller head was going to be a problem, where Id have to make more passes to cover the same area as my old corded vacuum, but its fine. In fact, because the head is not so wide, I can vacuum places under furniture, etc. that I couldnt reach before without switching to one of the attachments. All in all, this is a great machine. Ive been really impressed with Dysons technology.

The vacuum really needs to be continuously on a charger so its ready to use; in order to do that, you have to have it hanging in plain site unless you have an outlet in your closet or wherever you want to keep it. Really? Who has outlets in their closets? So factor in either paying an electrician to make an outlet in your closet, or deal with having it constantly visible. The trigger is too easily turned on when you hold it, so it regularly turns on when youre just transporting it from room to room, conversely, you always have to have your finger on the trigger to use it. They couldnt figure out a regular on/off switch? That said, the different suction strengths is nice, it is much lighter to carry than previous vacuums Ive had, and much easier to do stairs. But if you lose power upstairs, you have to take it downstairs to plug it in for awhile. Since Im getting older, with back issues, I appreciate the lower weight, so will keep the dang thing, but debating whether I should spring for the outlet in a closet.

My vacuum arrived less than two months ago. It had strong suction, a good assortment of accessories and a good display. I quickly gave up using my built-in vacuum. The battery lasted through most of the house cleaning and the waste compartment was easy to unload. I was totally impressed with the device. Up to about a week ago I would have given it five stars plus. A week ago, the vacuum motor started surging and the display indicated that the filter needed cleaning. The display even had an animation of how to remove the filter and clean it under a faucet. It then showed how to reinstall the filter. I did what I thought the device was telling me to do. I rinsed the filter under the kitchen faucet and shook out the excess water. The filter even shows a faucet on it. After the filter was reinstalled, the motor continued surging and then the vacuum shut off completely. Thinking that maybe the battery needed charging, I put the vacuum on the charger and took out the filter to let dry further. After a couple of days, I reinstalled the filter which was still slightly damp and tried to run the vacuum. It was still dead. The Dyson web site had some suggestions of what to do, which I tried, but to no avail. There was a video that showed how to clean the filter, but it added a step of letting the filter dry for a day before reinstalling. Eventually I contacted Dyson’s customer support. I told her what had happened and she told me the warranty was voided because the machine had got moisture in it. I mentioned that a cell phone can be dropped in water and it will still function. She confided that she had dropped her cell phone in the toilet and it still worked. She said I could buy a battery or take it to the Dyson repair facility 70 miles away. It did not seem like a batty problem to me. I told her I am an electronics engineer and cannot imagine a consumer product that would be that sensitive to moisture. She said I could talk to her supervisor which I said I would like to do. After a pause, she told me that the supervisor was on a phone call and would call me back. It has been 24 hours now and no phone call. My company builds electronic products and they get exposed to rain, snow and many other sources of moisture. If our products failed when they were exposed to moisture, we would be out of business. I though I was following the instructions on the screen. It seems like normal use could expose their electronics to moisture; for example, a wet rug or a small puddle of water in the bathroom or kitchen. The Dyson literature says it is good for pets. Pets can have accidents and if the vacuum goes over a wet spot in a rug, the machine will fail. If exposure to moisture is all it takes to kill the vacuum and void the warranty, then I see major issues with it. Standard coatings can protect the electronics from water and most electronic products have such coatings. The vacuum seems like a great concept, but still in the beta development phase. It just went to market too early without sufficient real-world testing. Incidentally, I looked at the repair facility’s web site and they are closed because of the COVID-19 virus. There is no way to fix my vacuum, so it is a $700 paper weight. I certainly cannot recommend buying one. Update: The supervisor never called back. Dyson did email me and offered a 20% discount for a new main body/cyclone. When I tried to purchase the part, I spent one hour on hold on the phone. After reaching a customer support person, he told me he would call me back if the line dropped. The line dropped and he did not call back. Before the line dropped he said there was no stock on the part, but he would check further. My vacuum remains a paper weight since there is no schedule for the service centers to reopen and apparently Dyson does not stock the part I need.

First, the good — and it’s mostly good — for some reason, the pricing was down from what I’d expected. Still not cheap, but less than $500. I bought ‘The Animal” not ‘The Torque” drive. The only difference is the digital sophistication of the readout on the motor indicating battery life, etc. That option looked nice, but I figured I didn’t need it. The battery life is very good. The suction on this machine is in the WOW range ... but there is a downside to that. I’m thinking that the suction on the ECO setting is about the same as the V10’s suction on the AUTO setting, but I’m not sure. You can hear the change in power when you move the roller from hard floor to the carpet ... and that’s where the problem lies. I have new carpeting (one reason I upgraded to the V11 - I’m a Dyson cordless stick vac devotee and have had one for years). The V11 will NOT move across the new carpet in AUTO mode. I admit that I find this a bit distressing as I can’t take advantage of the additional power of the machine. The carpet is Mohawk Smartstrand Silk, and very soft and thick. Fortunately if set on ECO, the vacuum operates across the carpet pretty much like the old one did on the AUTO setting.... so, in the end, I suspect that I’m getting about the same suction power as with the older vacuum on AUTO. The V11 is also noticeably heavier, but I can handle it and it doesn’t bother me too much. Still, I struggle with the idea that there is a setting that I can’t use... and one hates to have a top of the line machine that has a problem of this nature. ... and YES, I have the air gates wide open.

Ok, I waited 7 months to write this review. I have owned Orecks, good on hard floors, not great on carpet, Kenmore cannisters, pretty good, but didnt like dragging around a cannister, I have owned 2 sharks, 1 gave me problems the other, pretty good, but corded. I have owned a Hoover lynx battery operated, its battery lasted only 10 minutes after awhile. I read everything about vacuums and it took me about 6 months to decide to buy the Dyson. Out of all the vacuums I have ever owned, this is the best, by far, and I mean by far. I show everyone this vacuum, I believe I have helped the company in sales! Why should you buy this Dyson? Its light, no cord, easy to clean filter, and easy to empty. I have never run out of battery power once, it has the best suction power out of all my other sweepers, hands down. But the reason I waited 7 months to write this review is because if it can pick up glitter off a hard wood floor, you have my attention. If you want to suck the glitter up even faster, use the boost button and that was the only time I used the boost button....after sucking up all my Christmas glitter effortlessly, I am convinced I have the best sweeper that money can buy. I have hard wood floors and super thick shag large area rugs, it sucks up everything. Best sweeper, no comparison. If you are still trying to decide, stop waiting.....get it.

I loved this vacuum when it worked. It lasted roughly a year before the power head wasn’t spinning. I called Dyson, they said the power head needed replacing. They sent me another at a huge charge, only to find out that wasn’t the problem. As it was still sucking the dirt up somewhat, I continued to use. However, it was one problem after another. These machines have a sealed unit and therefore, cannot be repaired. Very disappointing. Not worth the money, I’m afraid.

Only could give this 4 stars because it was near impossible to get the battery charger separated from the other part that attaches to the wall!!! Instructions says just click but it doesnt just click. I actually had contractor try to get it off, called the 800 number on the manual says tech services at your assistance and the hours I was in the hours provided had the model number but I spoke to someone that would not admit there were no tech services people there at all or if ever(?). I repeatedly stated I want to talk to tech services person and and maybe they can walk us through separating these parts so it can be attached to the wall. She finally admitted there are no tech services people! All she could do was order another part and have it sent as this was new and still under original warranty. After hung up we finally got it open but had use several different tools and pry it apart which sort of damaged the plastic. So thats the deal otherwise the vacuum works great maybe its just that part I received but its on the wall now and still havent received the replacement part if this was a deal where it wouldnt charge I would not have a vacuum of any kind so their service department is severely lacking or non existent.

I bought this to see if I liked it enough to keep it, and in the end I did keep it, but here are the things I learned. First, my house is 2700 square feet with lots of steps. It’s also about 50% carpet and the other half hard wood or tile. I did most of the house in one full charge. I usually do half the house at a time anyway so the battery life is great. It took about 50 minutes for it to die (again doing carpets) so I’ve felt like the battery lasts as long if not longer than advertised. Also, I have 2 dogs so pet hair is everywhere. It works well to get the hair out of the carpet. We’ve only ever had cheaper dirt devils before so I don’t have much to compare to, but the suction was fine. I wasn’t blown away by it but have not noticed a difference which is impressive for a cordless vacuum. I saw a few people comment on the weight of it and it tiring out your forearms. I noticed the same thing especially while doing stairs. But it works great for stairs overall. The end is significantly smaller than most vacuums so doing a large living room takes a lot longer and feels sort of annoying. For me this is a worthwhile trade since I can get under and around more things now. One annoying piece is the stand that hangs on the wall. It has two spots to hang attachments and then there is a piece that clips to the vacuum for two attachments. It comes with 4 attachments but the stairs attachment doesn’t fit on either one so it has to be stored separately. Would be great if they could design a way to clip that in as well. I also read someone else’s review saying this rips off the wall. I screwed to a stud to be safe so it may be worth thinking about that when installing. Larger anchors could fix that as well if you don’t have a stud where you want this. Lastly the price...I’m keeping it so I guess that means I think it’s worth it. But I really am annoyed it costs so much. That is the biggest thing that keeps me from recommending it because I know a lot of people that just can’t afford to pay that much for a vacuum.

Just got the dyson v11 torque drive today. I fully charged it and tested it out. Overall design and technology is fantastic, the dustbin is super easy to empty, and battery life is long. The wall mount holds 2 attachments, and the tube of the vacuum has a clip that also holds 2 more attachments as well. The digital display is convenient, counts down how much battery life is left in real time. Ive tried several other vacs and returned them all, finally decided to try dyson. The power this vacuum has surpasses all others. My only cons are that on thicker rugs, its harder to push, but thats because the suction is so strong. Also I prefer am on/off switch instead of trigger. Time will tell if this vac is worth it. Also, if you buy this vacuum, ONLY PURCHASE DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON LLC!! IF YOU BUY FROM A 3RD PARTY SELLER, DYSON WILL NOT HONOR THE 2 YR WARRANTY. I did my research before I made the purchase, contacted dyson about the warranty details. There are sellers on Amazon that will lie to you and say the warranty is guaranteed, and even have it in the description. Dont do it. I will update with more details on longevity in a couple months.
