We owned an V8 Absolute for over 2 years. We decided to upgrade to V11 Animal when we wanted another vacuum cleaner for upstairs. V11 has stronger suction power (185 AW vs 115 AW) and longer battery life. We can vacuum the whole house which is almost 2400 sq ft in one cleaning on auto mode. Although we dont have pets, it does a great job at picking up my wifes long hair. Most importantly, V11 comes with only one cleaner head which will automatically adjust the suction power to different floor types, so you wont need to change the heads between carpets and hardwood floors. Its so much more convenient! The downside is that its bigger and heavier than V8 (6.68 lbs vs 5.8 lbs.) It will be a bit of a challenge for a average size woman to hold with one hand. Because of its in-line design of a long dust bin canister, the V11 with the cleaner head attached will lean forward when placed on the floor. I find it kind of awkward. Last thing I want to mention is that emptying the dust bin is a little messy for the V11 due to the lack of an enclosed lid. You can just close the lid on V8 after emptying it, there wont be dust falling out. But for V11, the whole lid with the opening will get all dusty afterwards. I always wipe it off with a tissue. Overall Im happy with this vacuum cleaner!

Just got the dyson v11 torque drive today. I fully charged it and tested it out. Overall design and technology is fantastic, the dustbin is super easy to empty, and battery life is long. The wall mount holds 2 attachments, and the tube of the vacuum has a clip that also holds 2 more attachments as well. The digital display is convenient, counts down how much battery life is left in real time. Ive tried several other vacs and returned them all, finally decided to try dyson. The power this vacuum has surpasses all others. My only cons are that on thicker rugs, its harder to push, but thats because the suction is so strong. Also I prefer am on/off switch instead of trigger. Time will tell if this vac is worth it. Also, if you buy this vacuum, ONLY PURCHASE DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON LLC!! IF YOU BUY FROM A 3RD PARTY SELLER, DYSON WILL NOT HONOR THE 2 YR WARRANTY. I did my research before I made the purchase, contacted dyson about the warranty details. There are sellers on Amazon that will lie to you and say the warranty is guaranteed, and even have it in the description. Dont do it. I will update with more details on longevity in a couple months.

My 17 year old Sears canister finally gave up so I went vacuum shopping. I went to the appliance store to look at options. They had Miele which I knew has a good reputation. But the salesman told me not to buy it - that the Dyson Animal was better - that he had two of them. And they didnt sell Dyson. I then researched various styles of vacuum. The stick vacs seemed best for ease of use, but I was worried about suction and time of use between charges. I finally concluded a stick vac would suit me. Of those the Dysons seemed best. After reading the specs, I decided the Animal would do the job but splurged on the Torque Drive for the nicer UI and extra tool. Ive had it for a couple of months now, and am very pleased. First thing I did was my carpeted stairs, that hadnt been done thoroughly for ages. It did a great job, though I had to empty it several times in the process. The small beater brush tool was great for this. The battery life has proven to be more than enough for my needs. I dont think the suction is as good as a plug-in canister machine. But it is good enough. My conclusion is that convenience wins - that the machine I use beats the more powerful one I dont use! Small complaints: The transparent dust bin always looks dirty, even right after emptying; While there is storage for two spare tools on the long tube, and storage for more on the wall hanging bracket, there is one extra tool for which there is no storage space. (I think this is only with the Torque Drive which has an extra tool the Animal doesnt have.)

This is by far the best vacuum I have ever purchased!!!!! Handles pet hair and anything else you throw in it’s path. My only complaint would be…. Why didn’t I buy this sooner!!!! Seriously though….. it can get a little heavy if doing a large job but other than that it’s perfect! Fits in small tight spaces and automatically switches from shag carpet to hardwood flooring effortlessly. Would definitely buy again if/when needed.

My only disappointment is having to continue to hold down the on trigger. Everything else is perfect.

NOTE: Update below... Just got the new V11 from Amazon. Shipping and packaging was excellent. Now onto the actual Dyson, the VAC itself is amazing!!! However, the Torque Motorhead was a big disappointment on my hardwood floors. The $100 Dirt Devil I have does a better job, but it’s corded, which is why I went for the Dyson. I heard so many positive things about the V11 that I assumed I was just using it incorrectly. Turns out I wasn’t and that the head it comes with isn’t great when using it on bare floors. I contacted Dyson and they said I have to spend another $150 for a bare floor head from the V10 model. Just a heads up for those with mostly hardwoods, look into a V10 package that comes with both heads as it’s a better deal. It comes with both heads and since the V10 is the last model, it’s much cheaper to boot! That being said, the suction seems good on this thing. With the front vent on the included head “closed”, this thing sucks itself to the floor!! Battery life on turbo mode is about 5 or 6 minutes which is enough to super clean a small or medium sized room. (SEE UPDATE BELOW) On regular mode I can do most of my house, which is amazing. It’s also pretty quiet. I don’t like loud noises so I wear noise canceling headphones and listen to music when doing things like mowing and vacuuming. I didn’t need them at all with the Dyson. Overall pretty impressive, just that initial shock of seeing debris left behind on the hardwoods makes me want to give only three stars. I’m hoping the new bare floor head helps. UPDATE: Ive been using the Bare Floor Tool for a few months now and it is 100 times better than the Torque Motorhead on bare floors. It picks up way more stuff and the battery life is more than doubled!! It can also roll over things (like Cheerios) where the Torque Motorhead will just push them around. Also Ive noticed that my bin is fuller when using the Bare Floor Tool, as if the Torque Motorhead was somehow leaving find dust and dirt behind. IF you have all bare floors, try to find a Dyson kit that has the vac and the Bare Floor Tool. The Torque Motorhead will be useless to you. Mine lives in the back of the closet now.

I own a Dyson Ball vac and a older Dyson stick vacuum, the stick vac is well over 5 years old and I have had to replace the battery once so far. Its about that time to replace the battery again because it only runs for at most 5 min on a charge, where it used to run for about 15 min on a new battery. Aside from the dying battery it is still going strong. I primarily use the stick vac for vacuuming our kitchen and entry way tiles, so I generally dont need long run times. The V11 is overkill for my initial needs in terms of price and battery capacity (about 45 to 60min), but I bought it anyway and Im glad I did. So, after using it for a couple months I have to say it has impressed me to no end. I literally have no use for my Dyson Ball vac anymore. The V11 has just enough run time to vacuum my whole house (3500sqft) and I believe it has better suction then my ball vac. This thing makes vacuuming the stairs a breeze and I no longer have to move furnature around to get into tight spaces like between couches because the head is smaller and less bulky than the ball vac. Light weight and portability is the biggest plus for the V11 compared to my ball vac... its funny that I am comparing the V11 to a full sized plug in vacuum but it literally is that good. This is sounding like a too good to be true review, trust me it is not. Aesthetically the the coolest thing is the display and I thought at first it was gimmicky. Well I was wrong, since I have moved on to only using the V11 and retiring my ball vac the display has helped me gauge how much time I have left for vacuuming the house. So far I have not run out of charge even on long runs, by long runs I mean vacuuming the whole house in one go and I have done this multiple times already. Only downside to this little guy is that I have to empty the waste bin halfway through my long vaccuming sessions. There are loads of attachemnt heads most of which I havent used yet. The only real gimmick to this vacuum is that there is a sound effect that happens when the trigger is released. Its like a cartoon spring boing sound, but it is a very pleasing sound and not at all annoying. Hope this review helps someone because I feel like I have just been rambling on and on.
