> 3 dayIm so happy with this light that I recently purchased a second one. I have a Kindle 3 and this light works beautifully with it. Is it brighter closer to the bulbs than the bottom of the page? Of course it is, but not by much. This light gives off plenty of illumination to read anywhere on the page. Im over 50 and struggle to see well in poor light, but I can read just fine with this. If you do happen to have trouble, simply re-orient your Kindle page to landscape and clip your light to the long side of the Kindle and youll be fine. Ive also used this light for reading a regular book in a car at night and it works well for that too.

> 3 dayI just got this to replace another Kindle light that wouldnt hold a charge. Its just about perfect when it comes to brightness, even lighting and weight. The only problem I have with it is that it moves on the Kindle. The clip is designed so that it cant be pushed fully down tight to the clip, or it covers the top of your Kindle. This means that it can move fairly easily. Ive got it stable enough that Im comfortable moving it, but it does interrupt occasionally for readjustment.

> 3 dayThis is my second candle book light, and I absolutely love them BUT while they’re some minor improvements there’s a problem with the battery compartment and cover !! Obviously since this is the second one I have the correct ones, and know the procedure. But the two batteries have a little bit of spring loaded action going on and it is nijgh on to impossible to close the cover. A lot disappointing because the oid unit has a switch or something and either flickers if it comes on. But it is old and I give it 5 stars….nothing lasts forever. But duct tape on my brand new unit. Sure, I could return it but it’s a design flaw.

> 3 dayAfter reading multiple reviews for Kindle lights, I chose the Kandle and anxiously awaited its arrival. The product I received acted like a strob light, never staying on, flashing, dimming, doing everything but work as anticipated. I contacted Ozeri who responded quickly with an apology and the promise to send a new one immediately. That one does work and if absolutely such a better light than my previous light. It brightened the entire screen with little or no glare. My only issue is I am not sure how to make it stay on my Kindle with the cover I have. It tends to pop off if on the top. So I just keep in attached to the inside pocket and clip it on when needed.

Hello Friend
Greater than one weekI design high-end LED lighting, so I perhaps a bit biased. In any case, I am satisfied with the Kandle, but it has some obvious improvement areas. Lets start with the good first. The light is a very nice small size, perhaps the size of a deck of cards. Its quite light as well. The grey one has a soft touch type of paint that has an almost rubber feel. I think this is nice. It definitely feels a bit more high quality than if it were not painted in this way. The light is sufficiently bright for most any situation that I have used it in. Now for the bad. It uses three inexpensive 5mm LEDs. These are the kind you see on very cheap flashlights at your typical store checkout register. They look a bit different, because they are wide-angle, which is why they have a flat top to them. You absolutely cannot expect much from these LEDs. They are no more than a few cents a piece and have typically very loose design tolerances. They also have a very poor color output. They are very cool in color temperature, which results in a blueish, light. This perhaps is not as critical for reading text, but a warmer color temperature may enhance the perception that e-ink is almost real paper. Another problem with these LEDs and the wide angle (typically 110 degrees) is that stray light goes everywhere. The Kandle is not very good for use in bed, or an otherwise intimate setting since you will likely be lighting anything within a 10 foot radius. To get the most even lighting, you need to tip the moveable head up quite far, which only exacerbates the problem. The Kandle has two brightness modes which are, in effect, useless because the brightest is far too bright to use in most situations. Something I found distracting is that the LEDs are dimmed using PWM, which causes some high-frequency flicker that becomes perceptible if you are moving in relation to the Kandle (ie. moving the Kandle, or walking by it for example). LEDs can be dimmed with a constant current driver, which eliminates flicker, but adds some cost the the driver hardware. One last problem is the way the light clips onto the kindle. The clip mechanism just isnt designed right to hold onto the Kindle 3G securely. Obviously, you shouldnt be moving much while reading, but youll need to be cautious moving you Kindle around with this attached. It would be impolite to post a critical review without some suggestions. I have a few that I think could make this a really good light. First, improve the LEDs. Much higher quality LEDs are available, and should be used. The increase in cost would be negligible. In addition, adding directional turning film to the lens is one method to control the light leaking to the sides, while keeping a uniform illumination of the screen. This film basically squeezes the light into a more shaped pattern - long vertically and narrow horizontally in this case. A wider range of dimming especially towards the low end is badly needed. I dont like using this in bed in its current state. The clip needs a more aggressive, but sticky material. Improving the mechanism shape could allow the Kandle to hold much tighter. Adding a rechargeable battery to the Kandle would be great. If I had to charge it no more than the Kindle (which would only require a very small battery with these LEDs) I would be very happy. Im not too fond of replacing and throwing away batteries. I would also make the on/off/dimming button easier to press. The current design is a bit tough to use ergonomically when the light head is open. All things considered, this light isnt bad. It probably is one of the best out there, which is good, but say a lot about the state of Kindle lights. I would definitely recommend it, as most people will probably not be bothered by most of what I observed.

> 3 dayJust recieved my kandle ozeri II for my latest kindle. Love the design, specially the wide spread area. I love the two light settings and the light angle can also be changed. Way better than any other competing product on the market as of now. It is light enough not to tip the kindle over when holding it with one hand, which is what I do. Pros: Light, excellent ergonomics, great lighting options. Cons (if at all): if I push it all the way in the top part of kindle then I notice that it can encroach slightly on the very top line. Although, one does not need to push it all the way. It still holds very well.

> 3 dayI received the Ozeri II Reading Light just a few days after ordering it. Surprized me I assure you. I carry my Kindle in my handbag and this unit comes with its own carry pouch which is great. The pouch is thin and so doesnt add excessive bulk to store in in my handbag. I light is bright but not anoyingly so. Oh, I forgot to mention it has two strenghts!! I am a home healthcare nurse, work overnight, and stay in my patients bedroom overnight so excess light is a problem to solve. With the Ozeri II Reading Light the problem is solved. Thanks to all of you for a wonderful product. So easy to use and appears to be solid in construction. If you are thinking about purchasing one of these - dont hesitate - its great.

> 3 dayI enjoy having the light for the Kindle. Im spoiled with my other reader which has a back-light. This Kindle was a win from a website so I didnt get a chance to pick the one I wanted. However, the only complaints I have are these: (1) It is a bit hard to keep settled on my Kindle, and (2) the batteries burn out very quickly. I read more than most people--sometimes all night long. That means my batteries run out much to quickly. It seems the batteries fade quickly. I handled this by ordering a bunch of batteries (25) but it takes 2 to power the light. Otherwise, its so great to be able to read in the dark!

> 3 daythis is the best light i have bought for my kindle. i bought a rechargeable one when i order my kindle (a 40 dollar one) and that was this past christmas. and it already was not working any more. of course i was very disappointed and angry because it hasnt been a yr since i bought it and it was a rechargeable one and one of the more expensive. this time i order this light, i like it alot better, one it was cheaper, it has a button to make the light brighter if needed from the regular light which is pretty bright in itself. its a little big for the top of my kindle and a slight heavy, but i would buy it again if i had to, i just wish the batteries were rechargeable, but other than that it is a GREAT kindle light and can fit some books as well.

> 3 dayI love this book light. Its small but powerful. It even fits in the outer pocket of my Kindle case by Belkin (tho, its for the 2nd generation Kindle not the latest, which I have so theres a little extra room.) I dont understand people who say its not bright enough. Ive not found that to be a problem at all. The one thing I dont like about this book light is the placement of the power switch. Its located in the exact place you need to place your thumb to squeeze open the clip. That means every time you put it on or take it off the Kindle, youre either turning it on or turning it off unintentionally. Thats kind of a pain but not a deal-killer. I do think the price is a bit steep as well, but that obviously didnt keep me from buying it.
