> 3 dayFor the first time in many decades I bought a Lego Set. Important disclaimer: Lego sees it quite differently, but since this is my review and I am just a consumer, I can pull this off: In this review I will use „Lego“ as a generic term for all building brick brands. However, LEGO will refer to the Danish Lego company Unboxing: A Box with a box containing the Set-Box. And still slight damage to the Set-Box. Two seals are keeping the Set closed. And then? What is this? What happens to the high quality cardboard inserts inside the box? The bags are just falling out? Booo! The Manual: At one point, the manual comes out along with the brick-bags. It is inside a bag, too and I am not brave enough to open it. It just looks to well. It looks so nice, touching it might ruin it. The manual is not spiral bound but a real paperback, 8 by 10 inches with almost 200 pages. And thanks god, there is a PDF available! Good Job LEGO! BIG like! The manual starts with some pages telling a little bit about the Apollo project, the Saturn V, the journey and the set designers with some really nice pictures. And then the same pages repeat in French. And in Spanish. I think that is wasting some space, that could have been used to show even more cool pictures. Anyway, after that introduction the only thing to be read will be Arabic. Arabic Numbers of course, otherwise it would be quite hard to read, I guess. Building: Easy-peasy. Really. One bag out of twelve at a time. The very small pieces will be in another bag, inside that bag. So I pull up the manual and start building. There is a piece separator in the very first bag. For that oops moment you will eventually run into. Well, generations of Lego builders survived without it, but it is there in case you are concerned about your fingernails. Each bag is having some stages. Each stage is represented in a single chapter and every chapter consists of steps. Sometimes really underwhelming complex steps. I mean, you have pre-sorted pieces. And really, taking two of them and just put them side-by-side as a step? Underwhelming. I think the most complicated step involves eight bricks, to be combined into 4 components of 2 bricks and to be mounted symmetrically on a plate. Caveat: it seems the manual is not straight forward. Sometimes you build the same component multiple times. However, the manual either says how many pieces you need in total, or per single component. That is getting a little bit confusing, especially at the end where you combine components to larger components that you need more than once. Sticker: Oh, what a pest. Stickers, Stickers, Stickers. A good reason to avoid any Lego Set. Not here! There are ZERO stickers in this set. Each and every graphic is a print! Seriously. VERY well done, LEGO. Please make that a practice for every set - it makes a difference! Conclusion: Bombastic! Heavy! Robust! One Meter (~1.093613298 Yards) Rocket. ~120 US-$? Yes, a little bit pricey but the price-value ration is a lot better than with some other sets from LEGO. Basically a no brainier if you are in Lego. A steal for the LEGO price level. The building technique is interesting and some patterns are repetitive. Naturally as you have a long cylinder to build. But it is cool and interesting at many other steps, never got bored.

Greater than one weekInstructions are easy to follow and build step-by-step but you have to take you time and stay really organized and double-check each assembly as you build to ensure you did it right. 12 bags in all. Though still a work-in-process for me, I look forward to each time I work on it. Great gift for anyone who has an interest in the Apollo missions, and I watched almost every launch back in the day so you can imagine how thrilled I was to receive this gift for my birthday. Each piece is of high quality and fits perfectly together. All the flags and lettering is molded into the plastic. No stickers !!! Bravo Lego !! Finally finished and added 2 more photos. Be careful when you build it! Double-check yourself each step to ensure you assembled it correctly. I made a couple of errors which didnt surface till later and had to do a little rework, but even that went well. I used a dental pick to pull just the bricks-off needed.

18-12-2024If youre even considering this purchase, pull the trigger. You wont regret it. I truly enjoyed assembling this set as I both have a love for space and Legos. Dont be fooled, I consider myself to be a fast builder and it took me a better part of a day to complete (a positive in my mind, but take into account if youre gifting this to someone). Standing at just over 3ft, it makes a significant presence in my main living space towering next to my TV and shelf. It can be stored horizontally as well if you dont have the vertical space or are concerned about it getting knocked over. Even better, it breaks nicely into three pieces should you ever need to transport it which I foresee the need to where this will be very handy. I give this model such praise as it simply does everything right. The attention to detail is superb and the fact that you can put both the lunar module inside the actual rocket is fabulous. Completed, it truly does justice to the Saturn V rocket and the modern marvel that they were. My only reasoning for the 4 stars for it being a gift and assembly is due to its size and build time. It wont be for everyone and so careful consideration as to whether someone is a Lego/space enthusiastic will go a long way to ensuring the person receiving this as a gift truly enjoys it. Lego, if you reading this, we need more of these types of models both in quality and size! If they launch a space shuttle model, Id buy it without question.

> 3 dayAt $0.06/part and no stickers this set is an amazing value to honor the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. I dont know if I wasnt paying attention to instructions, but I struggled putting the first stage together at times and had to look up speed builds on YouTube for guidance. At a meter tall it has a massive footprint, but if you have space for it, this is one of the best sets Lego has ever released.

> 3 dayThis was a blast to build from start to finish. It’s very accurate to the original rocket and has detailed features. I also liked the fact that no stickers were used.

> 3 dayOnce you get past childhood, its often hard to recapture the joy of playing with toys like legos without feeling a bit silly. However, when I presented my mid-thirties engineer sister with this her eyes lit up in a way I have not seen in a long time. Hearing her gush about how it is to scale and was transfixed on building it properly has been a joy to watch. Its really, really big, by the way. Easily bigger than a normal display case. Plan accordingly, or spread out the different phases of the rocket take off and mount it on a wall! Be aware its internal pieces are various normal Lego colors, so dont expect a well-detailed interior. But, hey, I couldnt tell you what the inside of a container of rocket fuel looks like either. It is deceptively tricky to build some portions, but is still a relatively straightforward design.

> 3 dayThis thing is AWESOME! LEGO sets have come a long way since the early 90s. The pieces are grouped in bags and numbered by their build phase or whatever, so it makes it easy to work on one section at a time. This thing is around 4 feet tall and is EXTREMELY detailed. A MUST have for any Apollo fan age 9 to 99.

> 3 dayGiven how much quality LEGO sets can go for, you absolutely get more than enough bang for your buck. I love the fact that you can easily separate the sections to display it as one complete ship or the three separate stages. From start to finish, it took me about 9-hours straight, but I also have a fair amount of LEGO building experience as it is. I would recommend this set to someone who at has least intermediate experience building LEGO sets because there were a few instances where I had to do something different than what the instructions said to do to get a piece/pieces to set right. It’s not “impossibly” hard by any stretch, but those with novice experience will definitely hit some frustrations. It’s a small detail, but one of my favorite features is the astronaut pieces that are scaled to show just how massive the Saturn-V actually was.

> 3 dayIve been building lego since i was 7, now 29. As a space nerd, this is easily a must have set for anyone who loves lego and the re-release ensures it will be around for a long time. This thing is HUGE. Standing up is about 3 feet tall from engine to escape tower. The little builds for the splash down and LEM really help complete this model. Its incredibly sturdy and well designed, and incredibly intricate. Be sure to carefully read instructions or you will find yourself stuck. I HIGHLY recommend this to any lego fan, and 120 bucks for a 2000 piece set is an excellent value. Took me a full day to complete.
