Amazing. And HUGE! First, let me say that this is my first Lego set. Ive built Legos before (as a kid) but never anything that came with instructions let alone nearly 200 pages of instructions! The manual was very detailed and easy to follow. I did make a couple of small errors that I caught quickly enough and was able to correct - just needed to pay extra attention when attaching the outer body panels as they do vary slightly. Some of the diagrams were a little tough to decipher due to the complexity of certain pieces but it was all easy enough to figure out. Total build time was around 7 hours at a leisurely pace. First impressions of the completed build: CONS- just a few minor details that would have thrown this set over the top for me. The main command module has no printed details like a hatch or window while the splashdown command module does. The launch escape tower is not easily detached as it would have been in real life. Would have been cool to have room inside the command and lunar modules for the minifigs to be stored - the Lunar module set up would be fine for 2 of the 3 figs to be displayed but the third cant be accurately displayed as the 3rd astronaut would have remained in the command module. I plan to display this with the individual stages separated so I will need to devise a way to make more stands - the three provided are a little disappointing. PROS - very detailed and nearly spot on to the real deal. Challenging but fun build. Amazing how stable and solid the finished set is, well thought out construction. Loved that the build was broken up into the actual stages of the rocket and that the stages are easily separated once completed. Also fun that the service, command and lunar module can be taken out and docked together. The lunar module can also be separated into its decent and ascent stages. And the most interesting detail of all that no one seems to have mentioned in any of the reviews that Ive read....could it be a coincidence that the piece count is the same as the year of the first moon landing - 1969?!? I think not. I swore this would be my first and only Lego set but I saw that there may be a similarly scaled space shuttle released soon. Hmmm...

Fun kit.... something else to do other than a puzzle.... took a few hours and spread it out over the course of 2-3 evenings while watching tv. Nice touch that its 1,969 pieces... (1969... the year of the first moon walk). Arrived safe and sound inside of another specially sized LEGO shipping box specifically for this box, so the original box was in good shape. Very well packaged and divided into multiple sub sections. The instruction booklet is quite large.... about 200 pages with over 300 steps. It also includes a checklist of how many and what type parts on the last page. The first part of the booklet has historical photos of the moon trip and the real rocket in addition to info about the fan design kits and LEGO designers. Now, as an adult, its the first kit Ive assembled with a need for reading glasses. But ever bit as much fun as I remember as a kid and it was lots of fun studying online about the moon mission and watching related videos streaming video services while doing the build. It breaks apart into the multiple stages just as the real rocket did and the landing module fits inside and can dock with the command module just like in real life. Pretty cool... worth every penny!

I really enjoyed putting this together. Still fascinates me that this rocket is the end result of putting together pieces that are mostly rectangular. Directions were clear and easy to follow and pieces well-organized to correspond with where you are in the process. Just be prepared for the length of it, but definitely worth making room as its a nice piece to add to a room of your choice :)

Okay so the story will be after, the product review is first. Like all of Legos sets, fantastic, very fun and fills my time for about 2/3 hours one night. I got it for my birthday back in october (i think it was) of 2020 cause quarantine and blah blah blah. Great set, fun to build, and well worth the price tag even if i got it for free Story time boyos! So i got this set for free because of a massive fiasco with shipping. The short hand is that I bought it, said it shipped and would be here in a few days. A week goes by nothing, two weeks and then amazon gives me a refund. Damn thing arrives nearly a week after that. So now whenever something is late I just get a refund and give it a month, still doesnt arrive just reorder it. So far its been the only item that its happened for but man it was nice cause the end of the year is always rough for me.

This is my third LEGO Model. First was the VW Bug. Then the Lunar Lander. All are EXCELLENT and tremendous fun to put together. I came late to the LEGO party, and, as a result missed out on models that are now discontinued. I am very sad about this. I would really appreciate them bringing back the shuttle! I am now putting together the Empire State Building. Also an excellent experience! I have all of the finished models displayed in my living room. The Saturn V is especially impressive. I placed its lunar lander in its proper place right in the model. The whole model is HUGE and a bit heavy. Non-the-less, I am glad that they brought it back so that I can now own it! LEGO -- PLEASE GIVE US MORE NASA MODELS!

this was definitely designed with love. the separable stages, the lander in the payload, that it starts the right way but can flip around en-route. you can really explain the entire journey & get a sense of just how much rocket it takes to get such a little thing to the moon (and how little it takes to get back). at any rate. whos reading this to decide? its LEGO. its space (non-fiction)! if you want it you want it.

I have given this rocket as a gift and receiver loved it. Now I am a 65 year old LEGO mania Grandmother that bought this one for myself! The packaging by Amazon was double boxed and not a mark on the actual Lego box. EXCELLENT JOB AMAZON.
