Greater than one week- IN A GOOD WAY! So, I just received this vacuum and WOW. Its super easy to put together. Super easy to change attachments. I am very pleased how easily it transitions from carpet to hard floor. I vacuumed my whole 3000 sq foot house, couches, stairs & mattress yesterday! No hair was wrapped around the brushes after I finished. The attachments are a god send for stairs. I have a 90s model Kirby and this thing has more suction than that! It IS somewhat heavy but the ease of removing the canister and vacuuming in separate parts help - (also easy to get under the beds & things while separated.) Plus, this is why it is so powerful = bigger motor. It came with a hepa filter and 2 washable filters. The dirt bin is very easy to clean under water. The power cord was plenty long enough. Anyway, I love it so far. Will update if that changes.

> 3 dayI need to start by talking about my old vacuum cleaner, which was an Oreck, my second one. It weighs only 8 lbs, and cleaned pretty well ... or so I thought. The Oreck is old and the company doesnt want to service it, but Ive continued to use it until it just wasnt cutting it for me anymore. Didnt want to dish out that kind of money again, so I went on Consumer Reports and did my research. The Shark Stratos is one of their highest-ranking conventional upright vacuum cleaners (i.e., not a stick vacuum). I just vacuumed about 5 days ago. I fired up the Shark and I was dumbfounded when the canister was half full of dog hair, sand, dust, and red clay. If it was only about the cleaning ability, Id give this vacuum a five-star rating. But this thing is exactly twice as heavy as my Oreck and I find it difficult to maneuver. I will get used to that because of the level of clean. I also like that you can pop the canister off the running machine so you can sweep under things.

> 3 dayThis is my second Shark Vertex Powered Lift-Away Upright Vacuum with DuoClean PowerFins. My other is still working. However, there was a great deal on this one, and I decided to buy just in case. I first want to mention that I have had to call a few times in the last 5 years about my original vacuum, and shark came through every time! They are easy to contact. They offer on the spot video technical support and then if they need to send out replacement parts, they are delivered within a week. Secondly, I own a Newfoundland dog and if you know anything about the breed, you will understand that a clean freak will be vacuuming every single day! Their hair is super long and it is NO JOKE you will have hair like you could never believe hair. This is the only vacuum that does the job! Ive tried cheaper brands, but poor Hudson Douglas kills them or they just cant even do it! Great vacuum! Great warranty program! Totally worth the price! Only neg on my review is the pet attachment! I dont like it, and it definitely needs improvements. My original one is fantastic but this one I dont think does a good job with hair... I think they tried to save money when they designed the pet attachment!

> 3 dayWe have 2 Shelties and vacuums have been short lived and ineffective in our house. The dog hair stops the rollers and clogs the works. The Shark Stratos is a miracle machine. It got a ton of dust and hair out of a carpet that was just vacuumed with our old machine and no hair wrapped around the rollers. The dustbin is free of clogs as well. I love that the controls are right at the top of the handle. It is very maneuverable and did great on hardwood and carpet.

> 3 dayI dropped my original Dyson DC07 Animal vacuum on my tile floor enough times that Ive broken several important plastic bits (the latches for the dustbin, for example). So even though my Dyson still works great, its become awkward to use, and I figured I should see how the technology has advanced in the last couple of decades. I chose this one after being deterred from getting another Dyson by 1) the price, and 2) the negative reviews about the automatic height adjustment making vacuuming feel like leg+core+shoulder day at the gym. Cleaning floors is enough work, so the tools need to make it easier, not harder. Out of the box, the Shark feels nice and light. The weight is balanced well, so I could easily carry it upstairs without it bashing into my legs or putting a strain on my (fairly recently fractured) shoulder. Putting it together was a breeze. The pieces fit logically together and its obvious where everything goes. Out of box to fully assembled and ready to use? Less than 2 minutes. I should note that my floors are a double threat for any vacuum. I have a dog that sheds enough fur to knit a new dog approximately every 5 minutes. I am also a quilter, so my floors have bits of thread, bits of paper, bits of fabric, and lots of fabric dust. I was intrigued by the reviews that said this vacuum didnt wind hair around the brushes, and Im happy to tell you that its not a lie. After vacuuming all of my hardwood floors, including the sewing room, there is no hair at all wound around the brushes. Im as shocked as you are. Really. The suction is pretty great. You know how pet hair gets stuck around the bottom of your chair legs? This vacuum pulls that right out just when the vacuum head gets near. No more lifting your chairs and grabbing those bits by hand. In combination with the powered lift-away making access a breeze, cleaning around and under the table and other furniture has never been easier. Having the button to switch floor types up on the handle is nice, and the indicator light makes it easy to see which setting you are on. My kitchen has a bunch of area rugs, so I was switching a lot between hard floors and rugs. The area rug setting worked great. No rug corners were sucked into the machine, and the textured rugs were nice and clean in all their nooks and crannies. Im also really happy with how this vacuum handles dust on the floor. My other vacuum would certainly grab loose dust on the hardwood floor setting, but it didnt really clean the floor as it if had been swept. This one does that beautifully. The headlamp shows the cleaning tracks clearly to highlight this awesomeness. So long swiffer! Emptying the canister was a breeze. There are latches to open both the top and the bottom, so you never have to worry about clumps of hair and dirt being stuck in the corner. After I vacuumed the sewing room, I had some threads and a bit of dog hair wound around the silver cone at the top of the canister. I simply popped open the top latch and lifted them out. They werent stuck to the cone or anything, just pressed up against it. Easy as pie. (Mmm ... pie). I also need to mention that its quiet. Much, much quieter than my Dyson, which was unexpected. My dog hates the vacuum with a passion, and he stopped barking at this one after just a minute or so because it just didnt sound that scary. The only time it was loud was when I put the small head attachment on the hose end to clean the pet bed. The sound then is louder and higher pitched, presumably because theres a lot of air being sucked through a smaller space. Still ... overall, its nice and quiet. I try to write a balanced review, so Im thinking hard about negatives ... but so far I just dont have any. No retractable cord, maybe? I dont really care about such things, but if its important to you ... this machine doesnt have one. But ... the winding spot for the cord is on the side and out of the way of everything. You can still remove the canister for emptying if you forget to do it until after you have wound the cord ... so even thats a positive for me. All in all ... two thumbs way, way up.

> 3 dayOk, this thing is absolutely OUTSTANDING. We vacuumed the whole house with our Dyson dc33. Now granted, that one is 10 years old already, but their claim of never loses suction is just false. It HAS to lose it. Within the last few months, we replaced the hose, brush roller, filters and belts. After doing the whole house, we did it AGAIN with the new shark. It filled the canister-TWICE! Suction is amazing. Different modes for different floor types of a flick of a switch on the handle, so super easy to switch between floor types. Easy to push, turns great, doesnt weigh much, the lift away makes steps SUPER easy, and the roller does not hold hair! We have 2 huskys in the house, so long hair is INSANE. And we still have nothing wound around the brush head. Really the only complaint is the cord is like, stupid short. Only reason for 4 stars. I have a central outlet that let me do my whole house with my Dyson. Now I need to switch outlets 3 or 4 times to do my house. Kind of annoying, but nothing an extension cord cant fix. Either way, I couldnt recommend this vaccum enough!

Greater than one weekThis is Shark’s top of the line vacuum. It lives up to it’s reputation, but looses a star for it’s weight and noise. The good: - Powerful. Dyson is often cited as the king of powerful vacuums. But I’ve used Dysons and this is easily on par with those. - Great pick up. This is the most important part of any vacuum and this does a GREAT job. This picked up things my old vacuum missed. I thought the floor was cleaned but wow, I guess it wasn’t. - LED Lights. These are very handy for seeing dirt in dark corners and under furniture - Lift-away. This is something Shark’s done for a few years now. The ability to detach the bin and use it almost like a consider vacuum is very handy if you want to reach under furniture, for doing stairs, and reaching high places. - The rubber rollers really don’t tangle - Easy to empty bin. It pops off easily, you push a button to open it, then it snaps closed without issue. Easy and clean. - Filters are easy to access and clean. - Comes with a crevice tool and upholstery tool, and the accessory websites sells one for every task you could need it for. Some reviews say there aren’t any, but it looks like that has been fixed. Shark now carries everything at least as of right now. - Odor reducer. This is a nice addition, though replacements are a bit pricey. If you have pets it can help reduce that pet smell vacuums tend to get. You can also use the vacuum just fine without one. - Long cord. Why this isn’t standard with vacuums I’ll never know, but this cord is long enough to be able to do most average sized rooms without having to swap outlets The bad: - Loud. Coming from an older shark, this is noticeably louder. Which is a shame, I guess a trade off for the power, but Dyson manages to have power without this noise. - Weight. This thing is a beast. I am in decent shape and it still can get tiring. The lift-away feature is hampered by the fact that it’s so heavy too. All in all you won’t be disappointed with this vacuum. No vacuum is perfect, some might fix another flaws, but it’ll have new ones of it’s own. The pros for this outweigh the cons in my opinion. The price is on the upper end, but worth it.

> 3 dayThis is the BEST vacuum we have ever had, including our Dyson. We are shocked at how much more pet hair and dust it picks-up. The removable dust can allows me to use the stick portion of the vacuum to get under beds and furniture easily. I highly recommend the Shark Vertex.
