I only have a small camera bag to compare this to, but this is awesome for my first big bag. The main compartment dividers are fully customizable, I reversed my so the camera body is at the top instead the bottom, however, be aware that by inverting the dividers the top of the bag is shallower than the bottom, the dividers will be slightly taller than the bag body. So far, it has worked great, I carry a Canon T3i, 18-55 lens, 55-250 lens, SD cards, batteries, charger, filters, and a few other odds and ends. I havent tried putting my notebook in it yet, but I believe it will fit with room to spare. The straps on the side are nice for securing your tripod, keeps it from having to be hand carried. I can already see that I will probably outgrow this bag rather quickly with acquiring more gear, but who knows, I may just buy another and divide the gear into shoot specific bags. Great product so far, Ill revisit this review if I come across any problems. P.S. It also comes with a slip-on rain cover.

I am a pro photographer and I travel all the time both for work and play. Like most of you reading this I usually bring way too much gear with me. I have used the smaller $30 version of this bag for the past several years. I wanted a bag that was bigger - fit more lenses, etc. I bought another brand of pro bag from Amazon for 5X the cost of this bag and I sent it back (it wasnt any bigger than the Amazon bag I had). Then I saw this one - super glad I bought it. I have attached an example of what this bag will hold (this is just the main pocket - I can fit other stuff in the bag too). In the photo is a D4, 200-500, 70-200, 50mm and a 16-20 ultrawide (bigger then the Nikon 14-24) a D7000 body and a teleconverter as well. I probably wouldnt carry all of this at once but I wanted to see if it would all fit. Love the bag and Ill buy another just to have two. Cant beat the price either!

I never bought an item like this from a brand like Amazon. The bag is very well built and carries a lot of equipment. So far I have taken in on many trips and it has held up to the different terrains and abuse with no noticeable damage to the bag. Ive dragged it on the floor and on dirt many times (I hike a lot) and all my equipment inside dont suffer any damage at all. The price is great and Im really happy with it. I can carry my Canon 5D and two lenses with no issues and I still have room for other things such as flashes and accessories. The bag is well built and it has plenty of space inside to arrange all your needs. I wish it had a tripod holder on the front of the bag instead of the side. At times the weight of the pod tilts the camera to the side and it throws it off balance. So far Im happy with my purchase and for the price, I would get one for every day.

Let me say off the bat, I love this backpack. I bought it for a cross-country vacation that was going to involve flying, and I bought it looking for something that would cut down on my number of bags. This pack safely carried my Canon T5i with 18-55mm and 55-150mm lenses, my 15 MacBook Pro, and related accessories across 4 flights, 2 countries, and over 2,000 miles. I will mention that if youre looking for something that will carry every piece of photography gear you own, or have you have multiple bodies or a particularly long lens (Id say 750mm is probably the longest Id put in here), then you might want to keep looking. But if you want something that will travel well and keep your gear safe, look no further. A couple general design comments (none of which impact the function of the bag, and I put here solely for your awareness and on the chance a product designer looks at these): - Despite the camera compartment being customizable, theres no good way to put it at the top of the bag. I understand the logic here (pad it as much as possible), but it would be a lot more convenient to not have to open the whole thing to pull the camera out for a quick shot, especially when flying through a thunderstorm... - The loops for a tripod or what have you on the side are great, but making one side a standard water bottle pocket would be great. - The waist straps are nice while hiking, but having a better way to stow them while moving around an airport or something when the pack is coming off and on a lot would be nice. Bottom line, though, none of that makes me regret my purchase, though, and I look forward to this backpack carry me through many future adventures.

I had this backpack for a bit over nine months and today the zipper broke. Granted I do real estate photography 5+ days a week nearly every week - so the zipper gets opened and closed a LOT. This bag isnt too bad and should hold up for a few years or more with occasional use. Also, this bag is not at all rainproof. Unlike my old (and much more expensive) Lowepro bag, there is no water-resistant coating on the fabric whatsoever. Dont count on it keeping your gear dry while walking in the rain. Anyways, its not bad for the price and for occasional use. No other bag of this size and with these features even comes close to the low price of this one. Also, I had a chat with customer service and they cheerfully refunded my money after reporting my experience with the broken zipper.

I rarely post product reviews....but I promised myself that if this pack held up on my trip then I would have to post about it. So here I am. Just purchased and used this pack for a one-month trip to Australia/NZ in Feb. I was definitely skeptical of the durability because the price was so great....but now that Im back from my trip I can confidently state that this is an incredible value and I can easily give this a 5-star rating!! SPACE: If you are like me, you want to know first and foremost what can it fit. Well, I packed this thing to the rim with all of my electronics including a Mavic Drone, 15 Mac Laptop, iPad Pro 12.9 in a case with a Apple Pencil, Nikon 360 Cam, Go Pro Hero 5, 2 iPhones, Drone Controller, 2 Drone Batteries, 2 Drone Chargers, 2 extra Go Pro Batteries & Charger, 2 extra 360 Cam Batteries and Charger, 4 Selfie Sticks, 1 Andoer Pistol Grip Cam Mount, several Go Pro accessories including chest mount, helmet mounts, dash mount, charging cables for ALL of the items listed above including my laptop adaptor, a 3 x 7 x 12 foam/zipper case to protect some of the small gear, some extra memory cards and finally a very solid, 6lb (24) Velbon W-Lift Tripod strapped to the outside. TOTAL WEIGHT: I weighed this once before I left and I believe I was just under 30lbs. PROTECTION: With a drone packed in here, I was definitely concerned about the pack holding up. Well, I can tell you the padded walls did their job. They are extremely sturdy and because they are velcro I was able to customize them to fit perfectly around the drone and other gear. Note: The pack was definitely squished with a lot of other gear. But I took care not to place it under 50lb+ suitcases. Again, Im not a product tester and I wasnt looking to TEST the capability. DURABILITY: Not one single rip, tear or even the sound of a tear occurred. And again, I was skeptical so I was definitely expecting something to give out. I did not baby this thing...as I was in rain (sometimes heavy), muddy jungle trails, sandy beaches, direct sun, you name it. It did get some mud on it...but wiped away once it dried and youd never even know it had touched mud. I was worried about the high temps (85-95F + high humidy) especially in the direct sun, but...every time I opened this bag...my gear felt cool. So, an unexpected surprise. Note: I did NOT use the rain cover for this thing and water never leaked in.....however I would definitely utilize it if you know rain is coming. The rain surprised me a few times....and I stressed out when the heavy rains hit us....but I was pleasantly surprised that everything inside stayed dry when I got back to my car. Note: I did not have this in heavy rain for more than about 10-15 minutes at a time. Another side note: I carried this many different ways, I used the handle up top, I used one strap over my shoulder, and other times I used the full two straps and the buckle around my torso. So, all of the main components were definitely put to the test. Again, Im still rather impressed that nothing ripped. USAGE: I used this first and foremost as a carry-on. 6 total flights. I transported it to every single location, every single day and yes, I did small hikes with it as well. All told I was on this adventure for the entire month of Feb...and went to over 20+ different locations including remote, sandy Islands in GBR, picturesque trails and beaches in AU/NZ, river bungee jumping, mountain luging, light tropical jungle hikes (no major ascents), full day beach trips, farm stays, big city hikes....this thing never left my side. COMFORT: I carried around all day and the only time it got uncomfortable was when I had it draped over one shoulder for long periods. The full weight of the pack on one shoulder I think was a bit too much. So, I simply put on both straps and it instantly fixed the comfort issue. Keep in mind, while I was constantly moving every single day, this was not used as a rough hiking pack for long, arduous, high-ascending hikes. It was used for everyday transportation....as we moved from location to location. I carried water in the outside pockets a few times....and of course it did meet with rocks, mud, sand, etc......but I did NOT abuse it or throw it around for obvious reasons. FINAL THOUGHTS: OK, for those wondering why I would pack so much expensive gear in such a cheap case...well, I was originally trying to purchase a more expensive Manfrotto pack from a guy on craigslist...but when too much time went by between communications, I purchased this as my backup in case the deal fell through. Once I received it and packed it up....I ended up deciding to just roll with it. I was already blowing so much money on other pieces of the trip.....so, it felt nice to finally save a little money for a change. And for the money...I just dont see how you can beat it. It definitely exceeded my expectations. This was easily the best valued purchase I made. Hopefully you have a similar experience.

This bag is great, the biggest part of the bag let’s you customize how you want to arrange space within the bag. The front and laptop portions are smaller because of this(obviously), but we’re able to get the job done and carry my 17in laptop as well as a couple notebooks, some pencils, a pencil sharpener, a computer mouse, and the laptop charger with a little space leftover. When it comes to weight distribution this bag handles it very well, just makes sure you fasten the straps as comfortable as you can. Don’t carry the bag too long though, because like most bags after awhile you start feeling the weight on your shoulders. Even though the padding on the bags helps, I wouldn’t wear it more than an hour at a time. Lastly the main issue I have with this backpack are the side straps; they can hold your tripod well. However they’re not strong enough to keep your tripod from sliding around in place, this causes and issue where you have to put your tripod into the straps a certain way if you want it to be completely secure.

Im going to sum this up right off the bat. I LOVE this bag. It fits my needs perfectly. I was looking for something to use for travelling on an airplane. I had my T3i DSLR camera that I wanted to take, a laptop that I wanted to take, and some other small electronics that I wanted to take. I didnt really want to pack the laptop or the camera in checked bags, but the camera bag I had and the laptop bag would have been both of my carry on bags, and I wouldnt have been able to take the extra one for my tablet and phone and such. I had a pretty decent camera backpack, but what I now was in need of was a backpack that held my camera and accessories along with my laptop. I found the AmazonBasics bag, and after having good experiences with Basics products in the past,, I didnt hesitate to order it right away. It arrived quickly in a nice box with the backpack itself wrapped in plastic. It was easy to open and it got me into inspecting the backpack immediately. The first thing I noticed was that fit and finish on the bag is pretty top quality. I actually work in an airport, so I see a variety of bags and backpacks, from the cheapest of the cheap to the nicest of the nice. This bag easily fits in with the other quality backpacks that Ive come across in my work. As the name states, its very Basic looking, but to me thats a good thing. When using something for travel, the less it sticks out the better in my opinion. The straps are nicely padded. The chest strap works great, and the waist belt is very nice as well. There are small pockets on the outside of the bag, and those could be used for just about anything really. Inside of the back most opening is a spot to hold all of your small things. Ive got cords, memory cards, and manuals in there right now. Theres also a cleaning kit in there. It all fits really well, and theres still plenty of room for other stuff to go in there. In the main compartment, there are a ton of options for how to lay it out. I wont really get into how I set mine up, I will just say that the camera is at the bottom of the pack and I feel its supported and cushioned very well. The inside of the pack is nice and soft, with many hook and loop dividers that can be moved to just about however you want them to be moved. My pack currently has in it: T3i The higher zoom kit T3i lens Hotshoe flash Battery grip Five batteries, with two each in small plastic boxes for better storage Chargers and cords Lens filters GoPro Hero 3 Black GoPro waterproof case GoPro cords With all of that in there, I still have room for plenty to fit in the camera compartment. Im really happy with the way everything fits in the bag with plenty of room to spare. I also was easily able to fit my Asus laptop in the bag, as there is a separate pocket that goes right up against your back that the laptop goes in. I had no problems getting the computer in and the zipper secured with the bag. The bag also has a spot on the side to mount a tripod. I used those straps while at an art event recently for several hours, and it worked like a charm. You dont even notice the tripod is there, but when you have use for it, its easy to get it off, get your shot, then get it back on the pack. With all of that stuff in it, including the tripod on the side, the backpack can be a bit heavy...but the ergonomics of the bag allow you to wear the weight well. Its supported where you want it supported based on how you tighten up straps and belts. It also easily fits in the overhead storage bin on a plane so you can use it as a carryon bag and not worry about it. I wanted to also note that I put my Peak Designs Camera Clip on the left shoulder strap. The strap supports the device very well, and having my camera at the ready whenever I need it is great. In short, I really like this backpack. Im glad I got it. If youre looking for a bag to hold camera equipment and a laptop, go for it!!

This worked perfectly for my first overseas trip. I wanted a carryon that would protect my DSLR which I was never going to let more than 4 feet away. The backpack has a number of removable velcroed pads that allow you to shape the individual packing areas. If I had been taking multiple lenses (which I wasnt) this would have been great. All I needed for special padding was an area for a Nikon D90. The backpack has plenty of room for a change of clothes, a laptop, pockets for personal items (sunglasses, lipstick, wallet, passport, stuff), and also space for the quart bag of small toiletries, and another small bag for prescriptions, cough drops, etc. It holds so much you have to be careful from making it too heavy. The adjustable straps are comfortable and you could also carry it by the handle. It does not have a slip strap for the handle of your wheelie suitcase, but you could easily adapt the existing straps for this. It worked great as a daypack for carrying everything on tours. And it has side straps for carrying a tripod. Definitely my permanent go-to bag for adventuring. Where dd we go? Tromso, Norway above the Arctic Circle and yes, we saw the Northern Lights.

I traveled through Europe this summer with all my camera equipment stuffed into a standard backpack. Changing lenses, batteries or filters required setting the backpack on the ground and digging through, which made photography a hassle and made my subjects (spouse and kids) extremely impatient. After we returned, I decided that I needed a more professional solution. I read tons of camera backpack reviews and watched a few dozen videos before setting on this one, and I couldnt be happier. Heres what I see as the key features that make this product stand out from other alternatives: - NONDESCRIPT APPEARANCE: Most camera backpacks scream, Im a camera backpack, making you an easy target in crowded venues. I have thousands of dollars of gear and place a premium on the security offered by this anonymity. - VERY COMFORTABLE: With adjustable wide padded shoulder straps on chest and waist, it took me seconds to find just the right comfort setting, and I can wear the backpack comfortably for hours. - SPACIOUS: Easily fits my camera body, 4 lenses, flash and accessories, several filters and hoods, external mic, tripod, batteries and battery chargers, memory cards, laptop and tablet - with room to spare. - SMART, SOLID BUILD: Padding is thick. Dividers are plentiful and easily shifted with Velcro attachments. The camera body (with just about any lens attached) easily fits in the center compartment, for quick removal and storage. The zippers move well. - RAIN COVER: The pack comes with a specially fitted rain cover that easily slides over the backpack and helps keep everything dry. Based on my research, only the higher-end camera bags come with one of these. - EXCELLENT PRICE: This backpack is a tremendous value. I couldnt find anything else that was close to this price for this feature set, size, and quality. AmazonBasics is a misnomer for this product - its anything but basic. I look forward to getting many years of use out of this well-designed, well-made backpack.
