AmazonBasics DSLR and Laptop Backpack (Orange)

> 3 dayThis is a great camera bag. There may be some higher quality bags out there, but definitely not for the price. SIZE: My 15 inch laptop goes in no problem. There are plenty of separate pockets for memory cards, queue cards, pens, pocket knives, etc. All of the slots are rearrangeable to some degree (really not many better variations that I can think of) and there are two additional straps included to help secure something extra if needed. As the setup comes, it snugly fits the 18-135mm in the lens sections, and fits my Canon T5i in the main slot with a tiny bit more wiggle room than I would hope, thats where I use the extra straps. The flap opens all the way so you can easily reach every compartment or leave it open sitting with the compartments facing upward. QUALITY: The zippers are very secure. Reminds me of something you would find on a tent because it doesnt look like the stitching will come loose with further use. The straps are secure. They are not over-sized, but not so small to where they will dig into the shoulders too much. The canvas seems to be good quality. I dont have any visible markings on it yet since but have mostly just been using it walking around parks, cities, etc. and throwing it around in my car. I imagine the fabric isnt indestructible, but great for what you pay. The bottom has some decent padding so I am not afraid of setting it down. The side walls and wall closest to your back are pretty much double layered because of the felt and canvas layers, but I would be careful that anything doesnt come down to hard on these portions or the wall of the bag that makes up the flap. (You cold always stuff the pockets for more padding, I suppose!) LOOKS: The backpack is pretty nondescript, which I think looks pretty professional and can be a benefit for blending in when needed. It retains its shape (pretty close to what you see in the pic) because of the compartment structure, so it definitely looks like a case of some sort rather than a normal backpack. The orange felt on the inside, while not the prettiest of colors, is important to me because it contrasts well with mostly black camera gear, so when you drop an SD card its a breeze seeing where it fell. Overall, great quality, strongest feature is the price and the safety/convenience it adds to my camera gear.

Greater than one weekI had purchased a camera bag before this one and it just didnt seem to fit. I thought that maybe I didnt know how to put it on since I am 64, and weight about 240#. Anyway I had trouble with it. I purchased this bag hoping that it would fit me ( I read a couple of the reviews and one said that the guy was in the 6 range) . The bag is great, the compartments are very good and do accommodate my camera, 3 lens, flash unit, and camera charger plus various other things. I didnt put my laptop in it because I probably wouldnt be using my laptop when I would be using my camera. The only thing I have a problem with is the place where you put the tripod, and the straps are difficult to tighter up and they are spaced kind of close together so it may not hold the tripod securely. On the other bag, It had a little pocket at the bottom of the bag on the side to set the feet of the tripod into, and it held it more secure. I will just have to modify it a little to make it my own. I do love the bag because it fits great on my shoulders, and distributes the weight of camera and other components so it doesnt see like it is overly weighted.

Greater than one weekI love this bag. It only have one camera body and one lens that I am carrying with me currently, but I wanted a bag that would leave me room for more lenses in the future, as well as something that could fit my laptop and/or iPad. This case fits the bill. Everything seems very well made. There is ample padding, and plenty of room for all of my gear. This case is so much better than I had originally thought, that I am considering using it as my new daily use laptop bag, which will encourage me to carry my camera with me more often. The bag is a little bigger than I had envisioned (certainly not Amazons fault), and because of its size, I may need to consider purchasing a slightly smaller bag for flights. I suppose that is what comes with the territory of my purchasing a bag that will fit my camera and laptop though. Overall, I am beyond thrilled with this bag. I *almost* bought something nowhere near as good from Best Buy, and Im glad I found this instead. The price is very good, and the case itself Id better than anything else I saw in this category/price range. There was a smaller version of this bag that I might consider purchasing before my next flight.

03-04-2025Ive just received my backpack, and loaded it up with a 17 laptop, two DSLR bodies, and several lenses, including a 400 zoom, plus a load of accessories. Given the amount of kit, its heavy, but everything fits very well. I ordered this both for the ability to carry a 17 laptop plus cameras, and because I thought that the additional chest and waist straps would help with spreading the weight. However, the fully-packed pack is top-heavy, and the additional straps are way too long and positioned awkwardly. Im a 5 5-ish woman, and with the lower strap around my waist, the pack and shoulder straps do not rest on my shoulders at all, but pull me over backwards. Once I realised that the lower strap is NOT a waist strap, but goes (much) lower, then the shoulder straps fitted properly. The top strap, which fastens across the chest, is uncomfortable, and cannot be shortened enough. Im not sure that this will be comfortable for me for any long-distance walks, but for keeping all kit together for travel, it should work fine. I do think that the strap placement was designed for someone taller and probably not for a woman!!!! (Designers: there are women photographers too!!!! And we have curves!!!! And are not six feet tall!!!)

> 3 dayGreat camera bag at a great price. Two long and 5 short Velcro removable partitions plus two hold down Velcro straps to hold camera items safe and secure. Two outside Velcro-secured pouches. Two large zippered flat storage areas: The area located close to your back (shoulder strap(s) side) good for a laptop...probably 17 inch display size. The other large flat storage area, furthest from your back, has lots of pouches of varying sizes including a mesh-type pouch. A clip I believe for retaining a set of keys is located here. Lots of adjustments for the shoulder straps including waist straps. A couple of Velcro fastening straps on the outside of the bag will hold a light-weight tripod secure. The camera bag is relatively large and looks durable. The bag has not been used yet. Ive set the bag up for a DMC-G6 with 14-140mm lens attached, an HF-R600 with lens hood, two Zoom H1 recorders with shock-mounts attached (one with a ball-joint), bar with two 1/4-20 bolts (for mounting H1 plus HF-R600 side-by-side). A 72 inch tripod on the side of the bag. Hand hold or use the shoulder bag with a Magnus VT-350 tripod. Could even bring a 7 inch Viltrox monitor but with the battery removed (for HF-R600). Hope to use the camera bag soon. Also, a rain hood is included to make a more water resistant enclosure.

> 3 dayA long time ago, I watched a video by someone (I forgot whom) who recommended this backpack to carry around deck boxes and the like for Magic: the Gathering (and Im sure this pertains to other card games as well). I found it in my Save for Later section and decided I had the money for an upgrade like this and got it. No regrets! UltraPro Satin Tower deckboxes fit perfectly within the padded sections inside the second pocket. The first pocket is a little tight, but you can fit one binder in there comfortably. There is a side pocket with clipped straps that holds a playmat tube perfectly, and the smallest third pocket is great for pens/pencils, life point pads, dice, etc. I have just *one* complaint. Because the backpack is designed for taking your camera on hikes or something (I really dont know the photography culture at all), there are clips for your waist. There is no way to remove these clips, and they get in the way. I tried tightening them as much as they go, but then they sit on my lower-back annoyingly, and the strap hangs down and looks like Im wearing a badly-made tail. Overall, wonderful backpack. Seconding whomever recommended it for Magic cards. 5 stars!

> 3 dayLOVE LOVE LOVE this DLSR bag! I have told every one of my friends who is a photographer about this bag and that they need to purchase it Originally I had the smaller version of this amazonbasics bag, but found I needed a bit more room for things when traveling via planes. I travel VERY frequently. In 2014 i flew 100 times alone. This bag is able to hold my big d800, 3 lenses tons of other accessories AND my macbook in it and costs less than $40!!! There are bags that cost two or even three as much that dont give you the ability to store a laptop and this has excellent build quality. Build in the fashion of a hiking pack it has hip straps which help take the weight off your shoulders and comes in very handy when going on lengthy walks or hikes with this bag loaded up (and trust me you can load it up, I easily carry 20+ lbs) camera gear alone in it. This isnt a bag built for the quickest of camera access, but when it comes to travel/ lugging all your equipment somewhere, this bag accomplishes that in spades. Build quality, storage capability, cost make this bag a no brainer purchase.

> 3 dayI gave the item 4 stars HOWEVER..... I purchased this backpack for an upcoming trip. After unpacking ans inspecting it, I spent several hours trying to configure it to hold my equipment - without success. The product is well made and otherwise I would rate it 5-stars. The item dimensions are stated as 18 x 9 x 13.2 inches. The laptop compartment easily holds a Macbook Air, an iPad and has room for adapters and cables. The front accessory compartment will hold batteries, filters and such. HOWEVER, the camera compartment dimensions are not stated. The specifications say the camera compartment will accomodate 2 DSLR bodies and 3-4 lenses plus accessories. I found the depth of the compartment to be a big factor. I carry 2 DSLR bodies: Nikon D5100 and Nikon D7100. I carry 4 lenses: Nikon 35mm; 18-200; 70-300; Sigma 15-30; Nikon SB-600 flash. What I found was that the camera compartment is 4.5 deep at the upper portion (top); 5 deep in the center; and 5.5 deep at the bottom. Three of my 4 lenses are > 5.5 long so they must be placed horizontal to the bottom of the bag. Configuring the bag this way makes it impossible (for me at least) to carry the 4 lenses, 2 bodies, the flash unit and items too big for the accessories compartment. Quite simply, I need a bbiger bag! SO...be careful to preconfigure your equipment requirements before buying this bag - I didnt!. It is a very good bag for the price, but just not right for me!

> 3 dayI just received this bag and, having shopped for a decent backpack for sometime, knew what I was getting. And, I can review this even before I take it out into the field. Ive been hauling cameras around [usually 2 or 3 bodies (SLRs) with several lenses] for over 50 years. . .and, I wanted something COMFORTABLE! This bag is EXACTLY what I wanted for a field bag and/or a carry on . . . I currently carry a Nikon D90 and D7000 with lenses from 18mm to 300mm plus various cords; battery packs; User Manuals; writing materials (pens & 5x8 cards); a tablet; and, a pocket dictator. . .ALL of the above fit comfortably in the bag with room to spare. . . One thing I would like to suggest. . .a LowePro TLZ-1 holster which will fit on either your pants belt or the backpacks belt strap; and, allow ready access to a camera body fitted with a 300mm lens without requiring you to unload the backpack [The TLZ-1 is one of the few holsters that opens in the proper direction when you are wearing it. . .I picked up two of them on EBAY for $10 each (I also picked up a tool belt from Lowes for $4.95 that comfortably accommodates two holsters. .For use when I dont feel like bringing the backpack)] And, as long as Im mentioning money, this Amazon backpack is approximately half the price of the comparable LowePro bag.

Greater than one weekThis backpack is very well constructed, has tons of room, and has a lot of adjustable barriers. I previously owned a Amazon basics DSLR backpack (pictured) that has a black interior and is slightly smaller than this bag. This bag has much more room and is more rigid. I can just barely fit my Alienware 17 into the laptop sleeve, and it kind of pokes into the zipper (pictured) and looks like it might pop through the zipper if I took it in the bag on a hike (which I wouldnt do anyway). The laptop sleeve is not quite as protective as you might want it to be. There isnt much padding around the sides or top of the laptop. To me the laptop sleeve is just an extra bonus that I will not be using most of the time. It also comes with a waterproof cover, which will be really nice for for potentially dewy camping and time-lapse recording nights. Also the straps on this backpack are really nice. You can adjust them so that your hips support all of the weight of the bag, which is ideal for going on long hikes. I am really glad that I went with this backpack. Ive seen many other more expensive backpacks that dont have as many great features and all around build quality as this one. This is what I have that fits in the bag with room to spare: D3200 camera body (I hope to upgrade in the future) 18-300mm 3.5-5.6 Nikkor lens 35mm Nikkor lens 10mm f/2.8 Sigma Fisheye lens Yongnuo YN560 IV Flash Vello i-TTL cord for Nikon Nikon ME-1 mic Nikon AC power adapter NiZn battery charger 8 NiZn AA batteries for flash (not in my review photos) 2 EN-EL14 batteries, 4 EN-EL14a batteries several other accessories such as an interval timer, polarizer filters, SD cards & readers, USB cables, HDMI cable, a lens heater and cable, a 12V DC to 120v AC inverter, etc. Unfortunately this bag isnt big enough to also hold my 12V lawnmower battery ;) When I get a better camera body Ill replace my 12V battery, AC inverter, and AC power adapter setup with one of those fancy power packs. Ill probably still use a smaller 12V battery to power my lens heater though, although I could easily replace that with a light weight lithium battery.
