Install took three times, eventually I had to load the software down from their site. Worked well after that. Dont look for DVD quality from VHS tapes, especially older ones, its just not there. Its still a good way to save youy VHS tapes.

Most times I don’t leave a review but this product definitely deserves 5 stars all around. A long put off project to digitize all of those home movies that got thrown in a drawer finally got done. The software is easy to use and a very nice feature is that you can set the capture time so you don’t have to babysit. I contacted tech support the first time because my laptop didn’t have a hard drive. They were quick to respond with a link. Contacted them again when after 36 tapes I was getting an error message. It was my fault because I played with the windows 10 microphone settings. They recognized the error message and replied an hour later with simple instructions to remedy the problem. I like it so much I’m going to investigate the other products they sell.

I am using this product to transfer data from VHS tapes to DVDs. This product works great and is pretty inexpensive compared to other products on the market. I;m not real savvy about computers, so I had a little problem understanding how to use this, initially. I emailed tech support and they were fantastic. They responded within a few hours and worked with me until I got it right, even on the weekend and late at night. Outstanding support. I highly recommend this product. George

Was an easy plug and use. Just downloaded the software. It was actually harder to find a working vcr to plug in to this than it was to use. Recording my memories to my computer for safekeeping

Let me begin by saying I am not technologically competent, which is why I purchased this particular program to convert my old VHS family tapes to DVD. I did not want to do a lot of fancy editing. I just wanted to preserve my old VHS tapes. There is a little paper booklet of instructions, and they are okay, but also leaves out some key details. There is also a more complete set of directions that download to your computer. Please use these directions. I was using Windows 10 so I know it works with this, even though some may say it does not. I understand because I almost returned the program several times. But, all the problems were the result of my not reading the directions carefully. Example, take off the power save option on your computer. My setting was for my computer to go to sleep after 15 minutes, and that kept screwing up my efforts before I figured that out. But, the crowning jewel in all of this is the tech department, specifically Tyler. I emailed him many times, and he patiently and quickly answered all my questions. He should get a raise! The end result is that I have converted all my old family tapes to DVD, and also copied them to flash drives which is really convenient.

The captured video is only as good as your VHS player. Hook up with S-video if you can. My oldest home videos look not so great, but they are almost 40 years old. The ones less then 10 years old turned out great.

I have converted about 20 VHS videos so far with very little trouble. I have more VHS and others yet to go! It has stopped occasionally but a simple restart fixes it. It is not a video editor although it has some capability to crop, but for simply getting video from tape to digital, its super simple. I thought about just sending all the tapes to a service for transfer to digital, but I can get more value out of doing it this way, and I can see what I have. Some of the tapes only have a little bit of video, some I dont care about, so I now know what I have and how to put it together. Ill use a different video editing software for that, but the library I now have of all the old stuff is awesome. Using Windows10.

Reviewed a number of similar items with all having both very positive or very negative reviews. I choose this unit as the reviews said tech support was very good. I had issues getting started that were related to settings on my PC. I sent an email with the error messages to the email listed in the package and got an answer in 15 minutes with very clear directions. Once I followed the directions and was recording, I asked another question about which format was best to use to best quality of picture. I was answered within 5 minutes. Support is awesome and product works!

Worked for me. Windows 10 Although the software COULD be a little more intuitive, and editing out portions of videos is CONFUSING. Dividing video into chapters is a tedious pain. I eventually just chose to automatically divide chapters by every ten minutes or so, just to save time. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5 It would probably be best to use this only for capturing your VHS tapes, then use other software for editing. But I finally got around to putting our wedding video on DVD.
