This connector is amazing. I originally bought the Hopkins 7 blade trailer connector from my local tractor supply store. JUST the 7 blade, and it costed me $30. This is the 7 blade and 4 pin for just $14 how can you beat that? Everything is quality. Mounting is very easy and pre-drilling 2 holes is required. The only thing I have to say about this that was kind of workful was the wiring, but I cant take away a star because this thing is universal for many vehicles. I have a 2005 Tacoma and the only wires that color code matched were black, white, and blue. I had to expose the rest of the wires and match them by hooking up to a trailer and testing the blinkers and brakes to the corresponding wires. This was very easy with another person helping, it took me about 5 minutes. Overall I highly, highly recommend this product to anyone in need of a new trailer connector.

Ford couldn’t get a factory controller to work with my 2017 Expedition with tow prep package. I bought this and Hopkins brake controller with quick connect plug to my factory brake controller wire. Had everything installed and working out n 15 minutes. Plug the 4 way flat to 4 way flat tap ground to frame and splice brake wire together and 12v constant if you have to charge camper battery. Mount adapter. DONE

I added this to an old Ford Explorer that only had a factory flat-4 trailer wiring harness. Now I have the option of towing a trailer with the RV style 7-pin or an old school flat-4 plug in it. The flat-4 portion plugs directly into the existing flat-4 wiring on the vehicle so you dont have to cut anything off of the vehicle. The only thing you have to wire in is 12V auxiliary power and back-up lights, but only if you need them. Since my trailer does not use either of those options I just taped those wires up and left them there in case I want to wire them in later. It also comes with a mounting bracket and screws so mounting it is a piece of cake. I only had to drill two holes to mount the bracket. I would definitely buy again.

Worked great for over a year until the round cover broke off. There arent a lot of choices with the 7 and 4 prong plug ins. I bought it again. Will be very careful. I have a different brand one on my pickup. Its 25 years old. Hasnt broken. They dont make things to last anymore.

Received the Hopkins 47185 kit on time and in factory packaging. Nice that has both the 4 Pin and the 7 Pin Flat connectors. Just mounted the bracket and then place the connector unit into it with the supplied screws. The crimp connectors were already on each of the wires, so just matched the colors to the factory wires and crimped them on. Works great, put a little bit of grease on each pin and taped over each wire to seal moisture out.

I have these on several vehicles- great quality. ALWAYS use the combination adapters like this so if you need to tow a trailer with either connector, you can. I learned that the hard way when I had an axle failure on my car trailer away from home- I had to get a rental trailer to get my race car home while I left the other trailer at a friends house while I had to order a new axle for it. Being able to slap a rental trailer on without buying an adapter is awesome. You never know when you may want to tow something for a friend or whatever. Its also no more wiring involved to have this combo unit.

This 7-way/4-way trailer adapter is exactly what I needed for my DIY after-market hitch install. It easily mounted on the bracket on my hitch and the wires are plenty long enough to reach existing wires and easily hide around the frame. The 7-way connector firmly holds my wire in place and makes a great connection to the trailer. I have not had any problems with the connection to the trailer as I have with older 4-way wire connectors. I highly recommend this product to either add a 7-way plug or replace a 7-way plug that still allows a 4-flat connection for non-braked trailers.

I have two of these, one new and the other six years old. The old one still works great. The design does not appear to have changed in that time. After many years of use my only issue with it is the cover for the four pin connector. The cover is made flexible polymer that eventually rots and cracks. You should get at least five years out of the cover with continuous out door exposure. I did not notice another reviews comments that the bracket is included. It should be noted in the ad. I also purchased one from a local store prior to receiving the shipment.
