This is probably my first 1 star review on Amazon. We were so disappointed. We had an Ecovac w 2 brushes that worked amazingly. It would only get stuck if it climbed over a cord or bulk that it couldnt get over. This roomba only has 1 brush and stops if theres anything AT ALL in the eay. A line needle or piece of a leaf and rooba cries for help dies in place and after 2 months of owning this overpriced piece of junk, we have yet to get it to clean a sinlge room! It has all the bells and whistles but cannot do its basic function. I thought we would try out the name brand and we are very fisappointed. The only reaspn we replaced our ecovac was because it was an older model thst did not work with 5G at our new home. Will never buy roomba again.

Initially, I really thought my Roomba i4 vacuum was working as it moved flawlessly around my house seemingly cleaning my hard tile and carpeted floors. After about 10 uses, I noticed an issue where it kept telling me to empty the bag, which I didnt understand since the bag hardly had any debris in it so I thought maybe dust, dirt, or dog hair was blocking a sensor so I used microcloth and my 20yr old upright Hoover to clean any unseen dust off my Roomba i4 but this didnt rectify the issue. I then just used my 20yr old upright Hoover vacuum to clean my two SMALL rooms that were carpeted and I then confirmed that the Roomba i4 was definitely not picking up any dirt from floors as I was able to fill an entire Type Y vacuum bag with dirt, dog hair, and dust from a 10x10 sized room. At this point I returned the Roomba and Amazon (who was wonderful) sent me a replacement. The replacement immediately had a problem attaching itself to the app despite all troubleshooting; however I was able to manually push clean on the unit and it zipped around seemingly cleaning the floors. After one entire run around my 2500sq ft home, I followed immediately up with my 20yr old upright Hoover and again was able to fill a bag half full of debris that the Roomba did not pick up due to very poor suction power. I really wanted the Roomba i4 to work due to having a bad back, which makes it difficult for me to vacuum but after trying two units, which had no suction to pick up anything, I found them both defective and an expensive worthless piece of machinery! Amazon was absolutely great in assisting with my return and subsequent refund of these defective Roomba i4 units. Thank you!!

There is a chance that I have a defective unit. I am willing to believe that. Otherwise there is no excuse for how bad this machine is. It came scratched up without me ordering a used one in a box that was almost destroyed and was barely hanging together with loads of tape on the outside. When it comes to actually cleaning it is TERRIBLE. I have a german shepherd so I do have a lot of hair to clean up. I ordered this because I wanted something that could handle the pet hair and clean itself out when it was too full. It does neither of these things. It will barely run for 5 minutes before giving an error for a blocked brush. Now, this might not be a huge issue if it would then go and clean itself out to clear up the issue, but FOR SOME REASON instead of being able to go back to its home base it just sits wherever the error happened and you have to go fetch it. What is the point of the automatic emptying if an error that can be solved by emptying it is never utilized?????? Also when it does go back it sounds like a shopvac, but I guess theres only so much you can ask for. In summation: I thought I was ordering a new device that would mean I had to empty out my vacuum a little less often and instead what I got was a used device that has required a lot more maintenance from me than the offbrand vacuum that I have been using. I may see if a replacement will solve this issue, but if not I dont really understand the point of this device.

The vacuum works great. Got lost on the first try at mapping my house. The map shows great in iOS, but will not work on my Android. Being able to create rooms and combine spaces is great, The battery life is excellent. Not having to empty the vacuum when it finishes is a plus.

Some online review says, this is the same Vaccum as i7 or i6 except the camera. It probably is the case but the difference in performance is huge… this has gotten stuck over the edges of a cliff a couple of times (did not fall) and 1 out of 5 times it cannot find its way back home. That’s why 1 less star. Does excellent job with dog hair, sharp sucks comparatively. Battery life is superb… Lastly do not buy Amazon warehouse deals… the i6 I bought from warehouse deals has gone useless after 3 months because it won’t even start.

I really wanted to love this thing. I almost did. I even spent about an hour getting it to connect to my wifi and the app. It ran well a few times... then the error messages started up. It wasnt just one thing, it was a bunch of things-- roller issues, filter issues, needs help emptying. All of that I could probably look past and deal with, but the biggest issue of all is that the power cable does not properly fit the base, so it wiggles out and looses connection easily. It got to a point where it wouldnt charge the robot unless I was physically holding the cable into the base. I contacted iRobot and they sent me a new cable... same issue. Now Im going to try to return.

So I’ve been eyeing these vacuums for a while. We are a family of 4, 2 young kids, 2 cats and 1 dog. I was tired of vacuuming and arguing with my SO over vacuuming so invested in one of these. Pros: Easy to set up Vacuum collection is great as you dont need to empty the robot all the time Suction is good. Even sucked to the cat litter up! Managed to navigate the tile to the hardwood which is a big ledge. Downside: I felt like it cleaned my kitchen 8x before venturing into the living room. The whole “goes in rows” didn’t seem to work well as I was watching the machine like a hawk and it didn’t just go in rows. When the machine did make it the living room, it kept diverting back to the kitchen… not sure why. Lastly, after a 56 minute constant clean, the robot didn’t make it back to home base to change. It just died on the floor and I had to pick it up. Lastly, because it kept circulating the kitchen, in the 58 minute clean it never made it to the living room. As a result, I persuaded my SO to buy me the upgraded j6 in hope for a better performance to fix all my complains. Standby for that post.

We use this unit in our upstairs with 3 carpeted bedrooms sitting area. I gave it a 3 on the noise level because it is LOUD when it empties. It is reasonably quiet while vacuuming. Battery life is not great, but given all the moving parts, this is probably expected for the size of the area it has to clean. As other comments indicate, it will get hung up on area rugs. I would not recommend it if area rugs have tassles or fringe, or are particularly thick. I bought another one from a big box retailer. Slightly different model but works the same and has the same parts. Ive had no problems with connectivity, or reporting with either. The mapping feature works great and keeps it from taking a dive off the steps.

We, or rather I, named our robot Sancho Villa not sure why, it was just the name that popped in my head when prompted by the app. We have two dogs, one of which is a golden retriever, and two young kids and travertine tile floors throughout most of the home. The robot does a great job of keeping the floors relatively clean, which if you know anything about golden (or young kids) is no small feat. It’s a bit loud and takes quite awhile to vacuum the entire home but that’s a petty complaint. So far, so good on the mapping and being able to tell the robot to vacuum the kitchen or whatever other room. (FYI - you can designate/name rooms in the app). Last tip, if you get an error notification from the app and you need to pick up your robot, try to put it back as close to where you picked it up as possible or your robot will get lost and meander aimlessly through the house trying to figure out where it’s at. Expensive but worth it. Oh….buy extra vacuum bags and side brushes right away. Would recommend the factory replacement rather than 3rd party stuff.
