The i4+ vacuums so much better than my previous Roombas (and alternatives). It runs in logical patterns (compared to the random directions others often do), covers ground better and more efficiently, and picks up more dirt/hair/stuff than any other robo-vac that ive owned. Thats the good side. The bad side is that it doesnt always run and cant be managed. Ive had 2 other Roombas that worked great with the iRobot app, but this one does not. I can setup the vacuum, add a schedule, and then it disappears from the app. It may or may not run according to the schedule, it may run more than the schedule or it may not run at all. The app will never reconnect to the vacuum after initial setup, at least not completely. It partially connects because I can (sometimes) reboot it from the app. But it doesnt maintain a history of runs, wont on-demand, cant change the schedule, etc. Ive tried 3 different wifi networks, 3 different phones, etc, nothing works reliably. This vacuum is impossible to manage & control. Im hoping Roomba support will be helpful on this and if so will adjust review accordingly, but for now, this vacuum mostly requires manually starting it.

So, we bought one of these for our main floor. Had it for a few weeks, and loved it. Created a map on the first cycle, and all was good. So we bought another one for the second floor. This one was on the spectrum I think... Ran it probably 7 times, and it would not create a map. Then it started running in circles, going up and down the same area, just acting weird. Tried contacting support, useless. I put in the ticket almost two weeks ago and still havent heard back. We ended up sending it back to Amazon, and got a new unit. This one is doing much better but still had some issues. On the first couple runs, it cleaned our whole house but for some reason only created half a map. Then when it would clean, it wouldnt go any further even though the map ended right in our hallway. It would stop in the middle of the hallway and go back. Deleted the map, then had it to another everywhere run. This finally worked. So, I would recommend it but but only because the first example we bought did such a great job. Hopefully both of these dont need much support, because Im not sure support is even available given my experience... Update 11/25/2022: The 2nd floor unit has been doing pretty good. Both of our i4s have issues periodically. Sometimes they just decide they will not finish the whole floor and report back they did, or get caught on something stupid like an electric piano stand. Or, occasionally the map wont load. Overall though, they do a very good job of keeping the floors clean. (Upgrading to a 4 star rating) Most errors can be cleared by simply rebooting them. We also bought a refurbished i7 for our finished basement which is mostly carpet. The i7 is a much smarter robot, and hasnt got caught or had any problems yet. Its much more efficient at cleaning too. If you can afford the i7, it will be less hassle but the i4s generally get the job done.

Is it as good as my regular Shark vacuum? No, not really for carpet. But for hard floors, it’s good for everyday general vacuuming. Especially for the dog hair. And I like that it self empties and I don’t have to watch for the full light and stop it to manually empty it. When my husband got it for me he thought it ran back and forth in a line but it runs rather randomly and doesn’t necessarily finish one room before it leaves back to another and comes back again, but to be fair, it is a pretty open floor plan, but the “map” looks like different rooms. I haven’t tried to tell it to only vacuum a certain room. I recommend if you have hard floors and pets or a lot of dirt being tracked in everyday.

I had a robot3 and for a couple of years and got very frustrated with it. It would stop and say drop off detected when it was on a perfectly flat floor with no drop off anywhere in sight. Sometimes I would find it in the middle of a room just going aimlessly in circles. It would go into a corner and just get stuck. Took a long time to get finished. I got the robot4 and what a huge difference. It does not get lost, it does the whole house pretty quickly (1 story, 3 bedroom). It also does not get stuck on anything. They must have upgraded the software and improved the sensors. I am very happy with the robot4 and its overall performance.

The Roomba i4 (4552) model is a great time saver. I give a 4 on battery life only because it has to recharge during the cleaning. However, since it works automatically, it is not an issue. My floor has a lot of obstacles which causes the Roomba to have navigation problems because it bumps into chair and table legs. If you have a lot of open space the machine will be very effective and get the job done quicker. This is a great machine that cleans well. Yes, it is loud when emptying the dirt. That is not a problem, though- it is automatic! I purchased it during an Amazon Prime Day sale and got a great deal of $399.00. If you have a floor with open spaces it will work very well and quickly. If you have lots of obstacles, it will take longer to complete the job and you may have to reset it. Overall, it is a good buy.

Initially, I really thought my Roomba i4 vacuum was working as it moved flawlessly around my house seemingly cleaning my hard tile and carpeted floors. After about 10 uses, I noticed an issue where it kept telling me to empty the bag, which I didnt understand since the bag hardly had any debris in it so I thought maybe dust, dirt, or dog hair was blocking a sensor so I used microcloth and my 20yr old upright Hoover to clean any unseen dust off my Roomba i4 but this didnt rectify the issue. I then just used my 20yr old upright Hoover vacuum to clean my two SMALL rooms that were carpeted and I then confirmed that the Roomba i4 was definitely not picking up any dirt from floors as I was able to fill an entire Type Y vacuum bag with dirt, dog hair, and dust from a 10x10 sized room. At this point I returned the Roomba and Amazon (who was wonderful) sent me a replacement. The replacement immediately had a problem attaching itself to the app despite all troubleshooting; however I was able to manually push clean on the unit and it zipped around seemingly cleaning the floors. After one entire run around my 2500sq ft home, I followed immediately up with my 20yr old upright Hoover and again was able to fill a bag half full of debris that the Roomba did not pick up due to very poor suction power. I really wanted the Roomba i4 to work due to having a bad back, which makes it difficult for me to vacuum but after trying two units, which had no suction to pick up anything, I found them both defective and an expensive worthless piece of machinery! Amazon was absolutely great in assisting with my return and subsequent refund of these defective Roomba i4 units. Thank you!!

We, or rather I, named our robot Sancho Villa not sure why, it was just the name that popped in my head when prompted by the app. We have two dogs, one of which is a golden retriever, and two young kids and travertine tile floors throughout most of the home. The robot does a great job of keeping the floors relatively clean, which if you know anything about golden (or young kids) is no small feat. It’s a bit loud and takes quite awhile to vacuum the entire home but that’s a petty complaint. So far, so good on the mapping and being able to tell the robot to vacuum the kitchen or whatever other room. (FYI - you can designate/name rooms in the app). Last tip, if you get an error notification from the app and you need to pick up your robot, try to put it back as close to where you picked it up as possible or your robot will get lost and meander aimlessly through the house trying to figure out where it’s at. Expensive but worth it. Oh….buy extra vacuum bags and side brushes right away. Would recommend the factory replacement rather than 3rd party stuff.

I expected this to be at least as good as my other 5 year old robot vacuum, but this is much much worse. First of all it is super loud. I was trying to watch tv in my apartment, and even with the volume way up, couldnt hear anything over the vacuum. Second of all, when i finally decided to shut it off and put it back on charging station, it asked me if i wanted it to empty itself, and i said yes. I activated another super loud function: emptying, but after waking up all my neighbors for few minutes, it finally gave up and said its clogged. The last straw was when i wanted it to clean a specific area, but the app doesnt have that functionality. I physically have to pick it up and place it into the mess i want it to clean up. Might as well get a normal vacuum cleaner. Cant believe my 5 year old robot vacuum could do all that quietly and nicely, while this expensive pos is being sold today.
