Liftmaster 41c4220a Gear and Sprocket Kit for Chamberlain, Sears, Craftsman and LiftMaster 1/3 and 1/2 HP Chain Drive Models

I was very pleased with the kit. The kit was very comprehensive including every wearing part in the system, bushings, bearings and gears. Also included new roll pins for the motor gear, self-tapping screws for the top main vertical gear and bearing assembly, and lube. Be sure to watch the You Tube Videos first as this makes the job much easier. Three things I learned: 1) When you install the top main vertical gear and bearing assembly, be sure the slots in the bearing housing cover (just below the metal Chain Sprocket that accept the 3 self tapping-hex screws) are properly aligned, as this top gear assembly with 3 screws can be positioned in 3 different ways. The Front Slot should be centered and aiming at your garage door. I had to take mine back apart and rotate 120 Degrees after I discovered I cound not intall the plastic chain cover. 2) The set screws in the collar that held on the motor gear deformed the motor shaft, making installing the new motor gear and bushings difficult. I took a fine tooth file and filed them out of the motor shaft, and finished by polishing the motor shaft with steel wool. I then lubed with a small amount of the grease and everything went back together very nice. 3) When adjusting the door Open and Close Stopping Positions, you can remove the limit switch gear (located at the bottom of the newly installed top main vertical gear and bearing asssembly) and rotate the center limit switch shaft to position the stops where they need to be if your settings happen to be too far off on either the desired Open or Close Stopping Position.

Worked exactly as advertised; easy to install.

Bought this nearly a year ago after the local garage installer wanted over $60 for just the part. I am a good mechanic, but I watched youtube videos to preview the job. The part fit perfectly and it works great. This went on our primary garage door, and we enter and exit from it several times daily so it gets a lot of use. No problems at all. So pleased, I bought a second one for the other door. So glad I did not buy a whole new unit! This gear is the weak link. Think of it like wiper blades: it is intended to be replaced whenever it wears out. This is Rick (by the way) but I bet Marla could have changed this herself! This is a great value for the money.

Great product. All the parts needed to replace the drive gears and then some. Could have used some more details in the reassembly area but I managed just fine.

Easy to install and a real moneysaver too... and it went in quicker than a new opener could have been installed.

My old gears stripped out and I bought this to replace them. The instructions left a little bit to be desired, but I found some youtube videos that really helped. The most difficult part of the job for me was replacing the worm gear. The old part was so gummed up and seized that I couldnt get the bearing off the shaft. It started crumbling with the slightest amount of prying. Had to break it off and didnt see that there may have been a retaining clip due to the gunk and the kit didnt have a replacement clip. I have the piece with the set screws holding it on, but I still worry about that retaining clip. The garage door opener seems to work normally for now. Wish this kit came with that clip, though, and had better instructions when it came to that part of the job.
