Lixit Critter Space Pod, Perfect for Small Animals (Small)

It really is adorable. My rats, however, dont seem to love it as much as I do. (Theres no way to tell this until you buy something, of course.) But if youre looking for a really cute, easily-washable addition to your pets home.. this could be it. Its especially adorable (and a great use of space) if you hang it from the ceiling of the cage. If you like to give your creatures variety, we also use plastic storage tubs (from small to medium in size) as hanging pods as well! Just use a door knob hole drill to drill random holes - some for ventilation & others for the doors - and hang them from the top of your cage or put one of the shelves. (You can see many more photos of our hacks in our ferret nation cage review.) Large cages are easier to clean and let you give your creatures more options for, inexpensive things to do.

I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on how much our two rats loved this large Space Pod. They slept in it. They ate in it. It was the place to be! Sadly, our last rat just passed away yesterday and we have retired from rat-life for now (it is too very emotionally draining when they go). Thanks, Space Pod, for giving our rats so much enjoyment over the years. I would certainly not hesitate to buy one of these again.

I wasnt too sure about this when I bought it, I wasnt sure how it was going to afix to the top of the cage when I got it. But I put it together and put it on the roof of the cage and it has stayed ever since then and that was over a month ago. This space pod has ended up being the favorite palce for my rats to sleep and hide, they love this so much I may have to buy another one because I ahve four rats and while three of them might like to pile in it at the same time and sleep, It cant be all that comfortable. But I know they will comfortably fit two at a time inside to sleep. I was afaid it would fall from the roof of the cage but with all the jumping and exploring my four rats ahve done, it hasnt moved at all. If you ahve rats, get this and they will love it.

My two rats love this orb! They love sleeping in it and hiding things in it. I clean it weekly with natures miracle small animal cleaner and it’s super easy. They don’t try to chew it.

Update: I have since tried a few more times. Ive gotten it secure enough that eventually both my rats took to it and love it. It doesnt fit both rats very well so they sometimes fight over it. Smaller than I thought it would be (that part is my fault), seems like very cheap material that will come apart and the connectors dont feel secure. I worried that this would fall down with my rats in it.

A bit tricky to install with same cages. The hooks didnt fit on my cages wires so I had to rig it with clips. Otherwise its a fantastic little home for my girls. Theyve nested it with bedding and the ripped up fabric I give them and they sleep in there all day.

Rats love it, so I love it. 5/5 stars!

As we approach the warm summer months I wanted something cooler than the fleece and cotton hammocks I have for my ratties. This is perfect! I have three male rats and my boy Pepper loves it already! Super easy to assemble and clean. Highly recommend!

My mouse absolutely loves it! I set it up next to her food bowl, and she uses it as a little safe place to much on her food. Very easy to assemble & clean, weve had it for a few months now its holding up beautifully.

One of the small nobs that attaches the space pod to the wire of the cage broke after two rats were inside the pod, and it fell to the bottom of the cage. Now it just lives on the bottom. My boys still love it!
