I would have given 5 stars but for some reason the app ran very slow on my phone. It should be pointed out that the installation is phone based and not thru web site. I was a little prepared because I read a lot of the reviews online before the purchase. I have an android based phone therefore downloaded the purple PumpSpy app. For some reason the app runs slow for me so patience was the key. It took a good 40 minutes to get PumpSpy connected to my Wifi. I have a FIOS and so happens PumpSpy is less than 10 feet from my WiFi router. I rebooted my phone twice and re-read the instructions like 10 times and followed each step. And finally their app pulled up my Wifi so I could enter password, otherwise I was going to contact them. I have tested power outage, high water and getting pump cycle info.

It worked well for my monitoring app, just a couple of small things. One is that you cant set the alarm level for how long the pump runs normally. I got constant alerts because my pump ran longer than it had as the limit. You cant configure how long it should run to set the alarm threshold, how many GPM your pump is etc... They did adjust it once on their own which helped, but it went over again later and did the same thing. But the reason I gave it three stars rather than five, is that the power conditioning circuit seems the be weak. I put a small humidifier on it to see how it was cycling relative to the humidity, and within a day this appeared to kill it. The ring doesnt light up, nothing, completely dead. It is a small Phillips humidifier that I have used with a KillAWatt and with Wemo wifi on/off switches with no issues. I know there is a power spike when a pump or motor starts up, but apparently, the PumpSpy is very sensitive somehow. When the Wemo is on, all power is pulled through the MOSFETs just like the PumpSpy, one can handle it, one can not. But when I was using it on the pump, other than the small annoyances, it worked fine and was very convenient. For the price though, I would have expected a more robust power management system.

I spent 2 hours trying to set up this device, both manually and through the app. Every attempt ended with couldnt get IP address. I have called the support number, but havent received a return call yet. I will update this review if/when I get it working. UPDATE: After a phone call with tech support, I learned that you cannot set it up with an Android 10 or 11 device. I was told to use a laptop, iPhone or iPad to set it up. Then the Android device can connect to it. I just wish there was something in the instructions to let users know.

For better or worse, I dont take the time to write many reviews. With this item, I could not help myself. We moved into a house with a sump pump three years ago. In over 50 years I had never lived in a house with a sump pit and found that I was obsessed with the operation of our sump pump for the first couple of years in the house. I bought water sensors, paid for sump pump flood insurance and laid awake at night listening for it to engage and had neighbors checking our house every other day when we were out of town -- all because I was so worried about flooding ruining our partially finished basement walkout. After the first pump (installed by our builder during construction) failed after 18 months - which I didnt discover for two days (and the pump ran for an hour to clear the backed up water), I became convinced I needed a back up. A plumber recommended two pumps at different levels rather than a battery backup (water backup not an option as we are on well). I found this item while researching battery backups and thought it would be of benefit -- it turned out to be perfect. It was no issue to install and now I can check on the status anytime I want, and will get a notification if the power goes out (if it doesnt report to the server) or if the water reaches the level of the wire sensor in the pit. I honestly started sleeping through the night after installing this - and leave without worry now. Yes it is a bit pricey but includes the lifetime monitoring - so no monthly fee. The only downside I see at all is that if the company were to go out of business, the monitoring ends, and therefore the usefulness of the product. Hopefully PumpSpy will be in business for many years to come. . . This really is a five star product in my book.

Still havent installed it yet. Doesnt install or get configured with Android phone. Tech support provides instructions for configuration with computer. Couldnt get it configured even with tech support on the line. They said to login to my router, and see if router is stopping configuration. Dont see anything there. Seems like it might be somewhat set up as would get random messages about losing connection at home But when I try to add a location, wants me to reinstall. App is very slow, buggy, and a pain. Pretty much have given up. Might make another attempt, still will probably have issues once installed in my crawlspace which is even farther away from my wireless router.

Wow - this product is just awesome. We recently had our main and backup sump pump fail while I was at work causing some major damage to our basement. We knew about a much more expensive sump systems with similar capabilities as the PumpSpy PSO1000. Once I replaced my main and backup sump pump we decided to give this product a try. I am super happy about it. Setup: Super easy, if you have a smart phone and a good quality router it couldnt be easier. Installing the water sensor is very easy as well, just make sure if you have a main and a backup put the float between the two floats. App: What a great design for an app. I love how you can track the cycles your pump is on and it gives you a good estimate of the amount of water being pumped out each day. I tested the alerts an they work great. You will get a notification through the app as well as optional text alerts to the set phone numbers you desire. Overall, very pleased with the product. Only flaw that I saw was my backup AC charger was too bulky/large and it would not stay plugged into this outlet, which is fine, because I plugged that into a different circuit breaker.

This may be expensive, but its worth it! I needed something to tell me when my pump was cycling on and off. This is the only product I can find. It is well worth the expensive price tag. It does exactly what it says it supposed to do and I have had zero issues so far. It is very easy to set up and very easy to navigate the software. ** One month later_ the high level alar is stuck on. Water level never got high and even without the high level sensor the alarm is still on. With the alarm on the u it will not record how many times the pump cycles. Looks like it was too good to be true***

I don’t ever write reviews, but I have to for this product. I have a very active sump pump during heavy rains and then a couple days afterwards. Knowing that my pump is function while I’m away is by far one of the most stressful times for me. After having a pump fail and not know about it until it did thousands of dollars of damage, I had to find a fix. I bought the pump spy along with a battery backup pump. We just received a 2 3/4” downpour that lasted about a half hour. My pump spy was the first thing I checked as I was not home during this rain. As I write this review, pump spy has shown that my pump has cycled 68 times taking 841 gallons of water out of my pit. Is averaging about 12 gallons per cycle. If there is one product out there that is worth the money, it is THIS!!

Installation was pretty easy. App worked for about a month then just stopped working. Restarted phone, cleared cache, nothing worked. Ended up uninstalling then re-installing to fix. Seems to be a common issue. Also, the app estimates volume of water being pumped out. That estimate isnt configurable. It would be nice (and easy on their end) to allow the user to configure how much is pumped out per second to make the estimate more accurate. There is quite a difference in volume in a 1/3hp pump with a 12 head and a 1hp pump with an 8 foot head.

It’s hit and miss. Readings aren’t accurate, but at at least let’s me know there is power.
