Greater than one weekI gave this 4 stars because, so far it has worked as advertised but there are a few issues. This unit only sends data to the Pumpspy server. If this company decides to discontinue this service, the unit will be rendered useless. In addition, the AC current path through the unit must pass through a 20 amp hall-effect device/chip (this allows for counting cycles and duration). My only problem with this is the 20 amp rating of the device. They could have used a higher rated (up to 50 amp rating) hall-effect chip to make this unit more robust for those of us using higher hp pumps and it would have cost very little more. If the hall-effect chip blows, no power to the pump. To be fair, I havent had this happen with a 1/2 hp Zoeller pump but it still concerns me. My primary purpose with this device is to keep a running count of pump cycles to determine when to replace the switch contacts. The Pumpspy software does not keep a total running count of cycles (just total per given day). As such, I have to transfer their collected daily data to a spreadsheet to get a running total.

> 3 dayWow - this product is just awesome. We recently had our main and backup sump pump fail while I was at work causing some major damage to our basement. We knew about a much more expensive sump systems with similar capabilities as the PumpSpy PSO1000. Once I replaced my main and backup sump pump we decided to give this product a try. I am super happy about it. Setup: Super easy, if you have a smart phone and a good quality router it couldnt be easier. Installing the water sensor is very easy as well, just make sure if you have a main and a backup put the float between the two floats. App: What a great design for an app. I love how you can track the cycles your pump is on and it gives you a good estimate of the amount of water being pumped out each day. I tested the alerts an they work great. You will get a notification through the app as well as optional text alerts to the set phone numbers you desire. Overall, very pleased with the product. Only flaw that I saw was my backup AC charger was too bulky/large and it would not stay plugged into this outlet, which is fine, because I plugged that into a different circuit breaker.

> 3 dayThe PumpSpy Smart Outlet (PSO) is pricey, but worth the money with its promise to alert me to sump pump motor malfunction, pump jam, faulty switch, power failure, high water. My goal is to know when my primary pump fails, which means my battery-backup sump is carrying the load and I a few days to change out the primary. My PSO truly appears to solve my goal, but has only been installed for 30-days, which is too short to verify long-term performance. However, I am comforted seeing (1) pump cycles per day, (2) Cycle Length, and (3) Est. Gallons pumped. I emailed PumpSpy support to find out the metric used for Cycle Length (seconds) and what the procedure is to change WIFI equipment (push the reset button on the Smart Outlet). They responded via Email within 24-hours. The only con is Est. Gallons pumped is based on a 75-GPM pump and mine is a 50-GPM pump; therefore, my actual Est. Gallons pumped per day is 2/3 of what is reported in the app.

18-12-2024Update 11/2022 They restored the pump cycle history and updated the iOS app interface recently. I like it just fine ( again). The notifications of internet loss and restore , high level etc are very reliable and useful. Expensive… but it’s a great product. They removed the 60 day in latest app release. Now you have no idea how your pump is operating or how much water it is processing. Their tech support will not respond to requests concerning this issue. Total fraud and now a useless product. Do Not Buy !!!!

> 3 daySeems to work fine, but Ive only recently got it running. My biggest concern is that the outlets seem loose and one of my pump cords partially pulled out. I rigged up a ziptie support to take some pressure off the cords, but that was a little concerning and is a failure point. I also couldnt use their screw to secure the product because my outlet has screw holes on the top and bottom, not the center. I used a ziptie around the electric box (unfinished wall) as an alternative. On the software side, I tried several times to get this to connect to wifi until I read on their site that Block LAN to WLAN Multicast and Broadcast Data cant be enabled on your WiFi. Thats a pretty common setting (my router recommends to keep it enabled for performance reasons) and I dont understand why it has to be disabled permanently to use the device. Installation was otherwise easy enough and the software seems to work. Ill update if that changes after owning for longer. That said, the app wants location access and for me to enter full address? Why? I havent tested the high water sensor. On my to do list. Edit: Its still working 8 months later. The app on android has some occasional glitches that require me to clear data and log back in. Iphone app seems better. Got my first run-time alert last week (pump was fine; we were just having a literal flood and it ran for 10 minutes straight instead of its normal 8 seconds). The alert seems to trigger after 300 seconds. Itd be great if they could add a way for users to adjust that.

> 3 dayUPDATE: After many troubles, the company refunded my purchase and recommended the Version 2.0 product, which I did purchase and am now satisfied. ------ I installed this in May 2022 and initially - the alerts worked, but recording the pump cycles or viewing the alert history did not. With the app update Jun 03, 2022, now the app is buggy as hell - you are lucky if it pulls anything up, and even when it does work, it still doesnt reflect the pump cycles as advertised. Looking at the review history, it seems like an ongoing problem at this company with technical issues. So either the management is out of touch, overconfident they can fix something they dont actually now how to, or they just dont care as long as they are selling. Either way, these bad reviews are going to start piling up and ultimately impact their bottom line. Please put the necessary resources in place to harden your app and software support team - it can be a good product if you do so.

> 3 dayRecently just purchased this pump spy PSO1000 outlet and overall its a great product. The only complaint I have with this device is how the loss of AC power alert is engineered. I have a line interactive UPS unit attached to the router and modem and even when I have outages I dont lose network connectivity. I first tested it with turning the breaker that feeds the sump off and it sent an alert right away that I lost power (router/modem still has AC power). After turning it back on, within a couple minutes it reconnected and sent me a power restored alert. All good it seemed. The problem is when your entire house loses power. I turned the main breaker off to simulate an outage where it would kick on UPS to the router/modem and remove power to the sump. In this scenario (which is 99% of all power outage scenarios) the unit never sent the alert I lost power even though the router and modem didnt lose power. This means one of two things. Either my unit is somewhat defective or the unit wasnt properly engineered from the get-go. All line interactive UPS experience a few cycles of outage before switching over to battery power during a power outage. This outage duration isnt enough time for the human eye to even see but enough to prevent the outage alert to be sent through alerting the user of a critical event affecting the sump operation. The unit should have been designed to ride through a momentary outage for at least a few seconds....capacitor anyone?) This would allow users to utilize the cheaper UPS units on the modem/router setup. One work around for this limitation is to get a double conversion UPS unit (about $365) that would prevent the network equipment from seeing a momentary disruption and allow the Pump spy to send its alert since it dies as soon as AC is lost. Aside from that , this unit does provide some sort of peace of mind. It is easy to use and I really like being able to see how many times the pump operated. The install was super easy and setup with the network was pretty straightforward. For the money, there really isnt a better option out there that has all these features. If the company would improve their product and add that cheap capacitor to allow it to self power the electronics for a few seconds, I would have easily paid another $20 for the unit and given a 5 star review . (I would be happy to trial it)

> 3 dayI have this installed in my basement. I had a problem where my sump pump would run excessively. This would alert me. I was happy. Eventually the switch in the pump failed completely. Given the unusual circumstances of COVID-19, my county being on lockdown, people being advised to stay home, I leveraged the ability of this device to let me know when the pump needed to run so I could limp along until I could order a new pump and find a good time to swap it out. Great. Until I started receiving emails from the company bluntly telling me, and this is from the email, If you do not make the necessary repairs/adjustments, we will temporarily suspend your monitoring service until they are completed. Wow. So I had to stop doing my job (luckily I still have one) so I could drop everything and resolve their problem. Granted, these are extraordinary times, but there was no inquiry about if they could help, no ask if I could address the problem, just a blunt order to fix my pump. Apparently sending emails is too much of a strain for their system. Is this customer service? So again, if you want a cute toy to just tell you things are working fine, you want to see how long your pump runs per cycle, it does the job. It also gets old pretty quick. If you need something to help you out when things go wrong, look elsewhere. Device works great, but the attitude of the company leaves a lot to be desired and really diminishes the value of the device. Pretty pricey toy just to reassure you when things are good, but abandon you when you really need it.

> 3 dayAfter reading previous reviews I felt the exact frustration the other guys who work in IT experienced. Between the semi-confusing instructions and the delayed support getting the device up and running can be very tedious. So the actual physical install of the device was simple enough; plug it in, get the water detection device in thes sump well. Getting the device to hook into the network was another issue all together. Do yourself a favor and do this: First download the app and create your account and residence in the app; now close the app Next plug in the device (the light on the socket will be red) Connect your mobile device to the network that says Pump Spy, your device will tell you it cannot connect to the internet (thats fine, youre trying to get the device to connect to the Pumpspy servers). Open a internet browser on the device and go to the url 10.10.115.1/config/scan_page_outer.html Youll see a screen with wifi networks in your area, choose your wifi and put in your wifi passcode (make sure you get this right or youll regret it). After the wifi code has been inputted youll get a black screen, wait a bit and your light should go green. Go back to the pump spy app, settings, manually add device and put in the 15 digit identifier on the side of your device. After that youre all set. So far so good with the device. Good luck!

> 3 dayFor starters, our house is on a slope and we have a ton of water underneath so much that our pump ran almost every hour. I had several floods and wanted something to notify me and contacts of my choosing. For that, the pump spy works. The application UX could be better. The reason I cant give it a 5 star rating is because of the amount of false positives. For instance, after a recent flood, I said enough is enough and we installed a gravity drain and the sump no longer runs. Every once in a while Ill open the app to find out my sump pump has ran 10 consecutive days, its not possible! Emails to the company support were returned, i explained how are sump pump doesnt run and they assured me that the data is correct. Cmon!!! You mean to tell me on a pit thats no mostly dry that my sump pump is running? This is a disappointment. I really wanted to rate them higher. ***Update 11/4**** I was contacted by pump spy and offered a suggestion. Because I have the pump sentry inverter I needed to plug the spy into the inverter instead of the way I had it which was the inverter plugged into the pump spy. I had to purchase a 6 inch AC adapter for the pump spy to fit in the inverter. Hopefully this works better for me. Im changing my initial review to a 4 star. I will consider to monitor.
