My father was unable to link his vcr to his new t.v. My brother and I decided to get him a t.v. with a dvd player inside. I used this product to convert his vhs to dvd. I have made my dad a very happy man. He now is able to watch all the videos he has purchased in the past, especially when the weather interferes with his dish. He is still able to watch television! Happy dad, happy child. It warms my heart to help him with tech.

So far Im very disappointed in the customer support I am receiving for this product. I followed the directions on the use of the product however, I had 3 issues. 1) No Audio, 2) After burning DVD and played, it only played for less than a minute and then started over (even though in the program it shows and plays on my computer at over 1 hr. with no audio), 3) On the DVD it applied a theme to my video which I dont want as it makes the video picture very small - I just want the video on the DVD. I couldnt find anywhere in the program to choose no theme. I called the customer support # yesterday and after being on hold for 20 minutes I was told there was no one available that I could speak with and a service ticket was established and told someone would email me. I explained in detail the 3 problems I was having and also mentioned I would like to speak with someone as I felt trying to get the issues resolved through email was not going to work well. Despite my request for a call back, I received an email this morning with a suggestion to fix audio issue - no other issue mentioned. I emailed back twice requesting a call back and now havent heard anything - email or phone call. I was hoping to be able to copy a whole bunch of videos this weekend for a family Christmas gathering but apparently thats not going to happen now : (.....

Very poorly designed, their install instructions doesnt walk you thru what you need to know to use the program and is very glitchy! Unable to play DVD from any DVD player on TV after burning to disk from their program! Would not recognize my DVD player/Burner! And of course, Microsoft doesnt feel its compatible with windows 10! I had to drag and drop the file from the desktop on my laptop to my DVD burner that my laptop did recognize and use the Any DVD FROM MICROSOFT to play the VHS video on the laptop, again not on a TV! Their customer service only put in a service request ticket and told me someone would contact me, no technical help at all!

So easy to use right out of the box. I had tried a couple other ones that were cheaper but they didnt work. I loaded this and started using within minutes.

I have 40 VHS tapes I need to rip to digital, and I hoped this would be my solution. Ive owned Roxio products before, and liked them, which is why I bought this based on the rating and the Roxio name. Wrong choice for me. I installed on a fully updated Win10 laptop, hooked everything up, and the program indicated No video signal, but I could hear the audio from the VHS tape I was attempting to rip to digital. I followed every step in the Roxio troubleshooting guide to solve this, to no avail. Checked all drivers, tried another VCR, tried 3 sets of RCA cables. A few hours wasted. Then I read some of the reviews here, that Win10 wasnt well supported. I had an old Win7 desktop that I fired up and updated everything (to the extent you can). Installed the SW, connected the HW, and in this case, I had video, but no audio. Again, spent a lot of time searching for a solution, to no avail. Another few hours wasted. I suppose that I could have gone through the Amazon chat/phone support, but ya know, Ive built my own computers for over 20 years, installed hundreds of products and peripherals, and helped dozens of people solve their Windows/app issues, and Ive only had to contact support once. I was actually going to try this on one of my MacBooks, but that apparently would have been another purchase. Nope. I returned the item for refund, and have ordered another item which doesnt require a computer at all for capture. Much more expensive, but I need to start ripping these tapes! This is just my experience, and many reviewers love this product. Im truly happy for them, but Im sad that this particular Roxio product did not meet my expectations.

The instructions to burn a functioning DVD are useless. I have used the SW to convert old home movies to so type file, but then when u burn to a DVD it will not play on any DVD player I own or my friends. I have sent countless mails to tech support & get zero answers, just questions that clearly indicate either they have no clue or cannot read. I almost sent a reply for them to check a box “I am not a robot” Very, very disappointed. I own a Roxio SW that I converted my vinyl albums to digital and was AAA rated, which is why I bought this product.

Purchased this product a while back to convert VHS tapes and other media to digital format. The program would export the video using the supplied hardware device, but when trying to create a DVD, it would not play on my DVD players. Tech support said the program was not creating NTSC formatted output, and to use MyDVD to create a DVD. That kinda worked. They fixed the NTSC issue a few months later, and it worked maybe once. So to create a DVD from the captured video content, I use a third-party program. I then tried to use the program to capture audio from cassettes or LPs. Again the program would capture the audio ok, but when I tried to burn a CD, it would crash the program. I worked with tech support for countless hours on different suggestions, but that proved fruitless. So again I used a third-party program to burn CDs. THE BOTTOM LINE IS, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT, UNLESS YOURE WILLING TO PUT UP WITHA LOT OF HEADACHES TRYING TO GET THE SOFTWARE TO WORK THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TO WORK. OR BE ABLE TO WORKAROUND ITS FLAWS.

I managed to get about 20 hours of VHS video captured without too much difficulty. Windows did an update, about the end of January. Now I cant record for more than one/two seconds of video. I tested the Hardware with the open source OBS Studio and it captures fine from the Roxio device. But OBS filters out my DateStamps that I have. Computer is a Ryzen 5 5600X with Radeon 5500XT card with 32G+ of RAM. Have gotten frustrated with Roxio on this. Ive reported the problem to Roxio Support, but its been 2 weeks and no fix from them. Initially I had an older Nvidea 950 card in my computer... So, 90% of my 20 hours of captures were with that video card. The Denoise and Fix-Color enhancements in the Roxio software were decent given the age of the videos I was trying to capture. But since the Roxio SW doesnt work. I probably would have been better served to by a generic Video Capture device, and figure out how to use OBS Studio. Roxio support tells me to uninstall the SW and Re-Install with a reboot between. Ive done that multiple times and re-installing what is obviously a broken application does not fix the problem. Ive attached a screen shot, Notice how on the right hand side I have multiple video capture attempts with less than 1 second captures. To summarize: Capture Device works (even with OpenSource tools), Roxio VHS to DVD software doesnt currently work.

I needed to digitize some old VCR tapes, and another product I bought was pitiful in terms of picture quality and features. This Roxio product does a much better job of digitizing the same VCR tapes playing through the same VCR deck onto the same laptop. I havent gotten deep into the various editing feature yet, just very happy to have decent picture quality at a reasonable price.

This works good for the RCA to USB conversion, capturing video and converting it to mpg format. It has functioned well to save other formatted media to a computer hard drive. Some video glitches have occurred; however, I cant tell if that was because the old player was failing or the converter was just not seeing the signal. I have had a few times when the audio blanked out. It wasnt during anything critical, but it happened on several occasions.
