I have 40 VHS tapes I need to rip to digital, and I hoped this would be my solution. Ive owned Roxio products before, and liked them, which is why I bought this based on the rating and the Roxio name. Wrong choice for me. I installed on a fully updated Win10 laptop, hooked everything up, and the program indicated No video signal, but I could hear the audio from the VHS tape I was attempting to rip to digital. I followed every step in the Roxio troubleshooting guide to solve this, to no avail. Checked all drivers, tried another VCR, tried 3 sets of RCA cables. A few hours wasted. Then I read some of the reviews here, that Win10 wasnt well supported. I had an old Win7 desktop that I fired up and updated everything (to the extent you can). Installed the SW, connected the HW, and in this case, I had video, but no audio. Again, spent a lot of time searching for a solution, to no avail. Another few hours wasted. I suppose that I could have gone through the Amazon chat/phone support, but ya know, Ive built my own computers for over 20 years, installed hundreds of products and peripherals, and helped dozens of people solve their Windows/app issues, and Ive only had to contact support once. I was actually going to try this on one of my MacBooks, but that apparently would have been another purchase. Nope. I returned the item for refund, and have ordered another item which doesnt require a computer at all for capture. Much more expensive, but I need to start ripping these tapes! This is just my experience, and many reviewers love this product. Im truly happy for them, but Im sad that this particular Roxio product did not meet my expectations.

No problem installing the software and device setup. I used the Roxio device to convert VHS and Hi8 content to DVDs. I didnt have any trouble converting the VHS content to DVD but the first 6 Hi8 tapes transferred to DVD without audio. This was very frustrating after taking many hours converting 6 tapes. The problem ended up being a setting on my PC for audio input. I rated this a 4 because there wasnt a problem with the converter but with the operator. This product would have been rated a 5 if the documentation would have been clearer for troubleshooting DVD audio problems.

The VHS to DVD 3 Plus software works fairly well. However, editing is very limited. The burned DVDs are equivalent to the original VHS video quality. The MyDvd and Label Maker Apps bundled with it are useless. Neither one worked!!! I spent many frustrating hours editing a saved file and then TRYING to burn a disc, but no joy! I tried making labels but couldnt enter any text. Every key stroke resulted in a Windows Chime Sound (alarm) but no entries on the screen? Apparently not Windows 10 compatible. I guess this can be summed up as Roxio discounting their outdated software, to make way for the newer more expensive Video Conversion and Editing Apps that Hopefully function as intended. Actually, I guess its not Roxio anymore but Corel dumping the outdated Roxio software at eye catching discounts. Yes, I fell for it!

I needed to transfer a few old VHS home videos to a more stable and accessible format. For whatever reason I was afraid that this would be a complicated and tricky process, but with this product the whole project took only a couple of hours. Easy to set up and simple to operate. Im sure there are additional features that could be useful for advanced projects, but this was exactly what I needed.

It took a while to download and install. I was able to record a video but I thought the quality of the video would be better My biggest issues ended up being: 1. If you choose to use the enhanced MyDVD program, it take 30 or more minutes to import. I walked away and did other things and came back when it was done. Then when the program is loaded, you cant see all the options until you make the screen box smaller because some of the MyDVD menus are below Windows Start bar. Once I could adjust the screen smaller, I could see all the features. But this wasnt the worst of it. After working in the MyDVD software to the point I was ready to burn to a DVD, the whole application just quit/disappeared from the screen with no errors. When I restarted the MyDVD software back up and opened the project, I would have to make the same adjustments/rename the components and as soon as I clicked burn to DVD, it quit/disappeared again. I even restarted a new project and waited again for it to load and I was never able to get MyDVD to function to burn a DVD. I eventually realized you could burn a DVD from the standard software (photos attached). I was able to successfully burn one DVD. After that, I could never get it to burn again. It went through the entire process until 99% and eventually state there was an issue with the DVD. Once that happens, it renders the DVD useless because you if you try to use the DVD again, it states it cannot used and to install a blank DVD. I spent so much time with this software over the past few days that I gave up on downloading VHS tapes to DVDs. Heaven forbid I take advantage at least transferring my home VHS tapes to the computer. It may not be cheaper to pay a professional company but it sure will be faster.

Cant be any easier. Connected USB cable to PC, went to Roxio website to download drivers (updated them automatically), connected VCR, Ran software, pressed play on VCR, Video was shown on PC, pressed record, finished. Played back .VOB file just fine. Zero issues. Highly recommended!

I connected it to a windows laptop and it worked as stated. I do have a ton of experience in video though but the directions seemed to be straight forward.

Worked one time out of twenty seven. Ruined 26 dvds trying to get the rest done, customer service kept sending the same message I was not able to message back only way to get ahold of them was by phone transferred multiple times to get to tech pro then they would send me the same message that didn’t work. This went on for three weeks came to the best conclusion throw this device in the trash will try another way to transfer. If I could give less than one star I would. I used multiple computers and after the one that did transfer also had a computer expert try to no avail we uninstalled it reinstalled still wouldn’t do what it was supposed to do. Not a very happy customer I would never recommend this product to anyone

Its not a perfect system, but if you play with it, you can get the job done. Trick #1- the Video Capture USB device gets hot, and will burn up. When it gets too hot, the picture quality gets bad. It gets real jittery, and theres no fixing it- letting it cool wont make a difference. I recommend keeping one of those little blue ice packs on it (in a zip lock bag to capture the condensation). Dont leave it plugged into your computer when you arent actually transferring video. Trick #2- if the video doesnt show up in the app, try selecting Record DVD. Once you get the video working, go back and select Record, Edit, Save if you want to save it to your harddrive. You may have to do this several times.
