> 3 dayGoing on three months now with the Shark Apex so I thought its a good time to review. Maneuverability is pretty good - smooth back and forth motion and no dragging around a canister. Suction is amazing on hard floors. The floors setting gets down pretty low and creates excellent suction. Carpet/rug is decent. I have a cat & dog so enough hairs to battle. My older Kenmore canister picked up hairs in one pass, but I have to do at least two passes with the Shark. The shark is very sensitive to jams, which is both good and bad. It is easy to remove jams by just removing the top plate of the vacuum head, but the Shark will also go into overheat protection mode - power will go on&off intermittently - so you need to wait a bit before starting up again. Dust bin canister fills up fast. Push-button canister dump kicks up dust and sometimes you need to give a good tap and shake. Really nothing you can do about that with a bagless vacuum but best to empty contents outside. One advantage of the bagless system is that you can actually see evidence that your vacuum is working properly, whereas it may take you awhile to notice any malfunctions with a bagged vacuum. Attachment units dont stay on during a regular vacuuming session so its easy to leave them scattered in other rooms. Overall though we are pretty satisfied. The Shark Apex is definitely one of the stronger contenders in this price range.

04-01-2025I have a St. Bernard and bought this vacuum for the no tangle spinning brush. At first,I loved this. It has really good suction. A little to much for small area rugs so I use it on the floor setting for that. It worked fine in the beginning. I have had it for six months and only use it once a week as I have a dyson for quick pick up and a cleaning lady who does a great job. Im finding that the no clog brush stops running. Its not like the hair is entwined around the brush but I still have to stop way to often to clean it.

> 3 daySuper powerful, lightweight and cleans the first time. No need to keep going over areas. Best dog hair vac weve purchased yet. Accessories are easy to use.

> 3 dayImmediate first impressions: Cons: heavier than I expected and doesn’t turn as easily as I thought it would. Sort of reminded me of an old fashioned vacuum based on bulkiness. Pros: picks up amazing on hard floors, carpet and rugs. I love the light on it, it really helps to show what you don’t see. Overall, I am happy with my purchase. Of course everything will have cons, I was looking for a good vacuum for my new house and this will be a perfect fit!

> 3 dayI seriously love this vacuum! It’s so easy to move around and clean! The reason I gave it 4 starts is because I’m not thrilled about how cheap the plastic is around the wheels. I’ve had this for less than 2 years and only use it in one carpeted room, and it started to crack, and each use it seems to get worse, to the point that it wouldn’t stand up without me leaning it forward against the wall. Well it fell over and completely broke, so now I have to buy a replacement part, which isn’t covered. So at least it’s only $90, rather than having to buy a whole new vacuum. Just wish the plastic wasn’t so cheap right there. Hoping it doesn’t happen again.

> 3 dayThis Rating Is For The “Shark AZ1002 Apex Powered Lift-Away Upright Vacuum with DuoClean & Self-Cleaning Brushroll, Crevice Tool, Upholstery Tool & Pet Power Brush, for a Deep Clean on & Above Floors, Espresso”. This is our first Shark vacuum cleaner. Compared to all the previous vacuums we have owned and used, this one really has awesome suction. It did extremely well on our hardwood floors and our inside carpet. It was not quite as good on our outside carpet in our mudroom entrance. However, having said that, this Shark did better than anything else here too. Also, once the dirt is in this vacuum it does not leave it until you dump the dust cup. We like the no bags, cleanable foam filter and easy to replace HEPA filter. (We had no problems finding these items and purchasing them at Amazon. Now if it ever becomes necessary to change one and/or both of these filters, we will be able to do a quick change and keep right on cleaning). We also like the LED lights shining where one is vacuuming. This is especially true under furniture or dark locations. It takes some getting use to having a vacuum that comes apart to do different types of cleaning jobs. This is both nice and awkward at the same time. It is great for getting under furniture such as sofas or beds, but becomes quite a workout when cleaning a stairwell. One has to hold the canister in one hand and the cleaning wand in the other. This vacuum’s design prevents having a long hose for this task. We need to ask if Shark has an optional longer attachable hose for this type of cleaning job. We have had this Shark AZ1002 Apex vacuum for about a month (as of this writing) and so far so good. We are considering purchasing a second one so we can have one on each floor. This Shark vacuum is expensive for us, but seems to be worth it. It is nice to be able to make two passes over a spot and move on to the next one, knowing you have picked more dirt than anything else would have done. This is a very good high quality product when all is said and done. Our last comment: Nobody here is affiliated with Shark or even Amazon for that matter. These positive comments posted here are how we see it and have been posted accordingly.

> 3 dayI gave it 4/5 because it is heavy. It has great suction and its transformer abilities work great for different applications. We have a 70lb husky who sheds a lot. It does a great job with all his hair. I have been overall very happy but it is a heavy vacuum. I think my 75 year old mom would struggle with it. Just something to keep in mind.

Greater than one weekWe purchased this recently upon moving into our new home. Were trying to keep it as nice as we can with kids and pets. This is by far the most expensive vacuum weve ever had. There are definitely lower priced options that will do the job. Just not as good as this. Maneuverability - This is a very robust vacuum. It pivots surprisingly well for its size. You really can work around corners and furniture easily. The head on this vacuum is thin enough to reach beneath the furniture. It vacuums right up to the baseboard in either direction. Im happy with it. Ease of use - The cord is adequate in length. The dust collection compartment is easy to empty. Our 12 year old is proficient with all of the functions. After all, it really is his vacuum. The lift away is pretty simple to do. The light on the head is bright enough to see in the darker corners and behind furniture. I like the light quite a bit. The crevice tool and that other thing that we use on the furniture are easily installed and removed. They both work well. Suction power- Possibly the most important aspect of my opinion on this. Im impressed. I can tell you that your carpet is dirtier than you likely think it is. Our son vacuums upstairs every other day with the exception of the master bedroom. I do that one myself. This thing gets dust out of the carpet when the carpet looks clean. Its really remarkable. In summary - 25 years ago I never would have believed that Im on the Internet reviewing a vacuum cleaner. Im well within the clutches of adulthood though and this is what its come to. Seriously though, Im pleased with this purchase. It was an expensive item for us. We had a lower priced shark before this. It still works and has been a good one. Hopefully this one will have the same longevity. Only time will tell. If youre looking to take your vacuum game up a level I would recommend this one. We do really like it.

Greater than one weekI like the suction and maneuverability of this vacuum. Its low profile lets me get under things that I could not get under with my old Dyson. It is not as wide as my old vacuum and I would have liked it to be a little wider.

> 3 dayThe vacuum was great at picking up, hair from a long haired german shepherd and short haird jack russell terrior with a shedding problem. Even the seemingly embedded hair was easily picked up by the vaccum with minimal effort and time. My 2 complaints are: some hair got stuck, but was easily removable from the roller. The canister was small, so dumping was more frequent than i wouldve liked. (0-2 times a depending on the severity of hair) Both problems which were seemingly improved upon in the next vaccum in sharks lineup the: vertex upright shark vacuum
