> 24 hourEdit 6 months later: Seriously if you are looking for a vacuum that will suck all of the dog hair up this right here is it. This thing is a dream to use. I breaks down super well so it cleans easily. It sucks great never once had a clog. I try to vacuum once a week with two dogs that shed quiet a bit and this thing is just as good as the day it got here. Okay I know the title is a little over the top but Im dead serious. So heres my story... 4 years ago I bought a vacuum and was great for spitting whatever your vacuuming back at you unless you were on hardwood floors. I also researched that one for months before I picked it. Got rid of that vacuum and got a completely different vacuum brand style and all. Spent 6 months researching before I made my decision. That vacuum had to be unclogged every pass on the carpet practically and empty halfway through a room even if I vacuumed every day. Then after about 6 months parts started breaking left and right. So back to my research I go. I deep dived an googled and inquired with friends and googled some more and deep dived and googled some more and then I found this Glorious machine. Now this is what the other vacuums were against 2 clean adults we kept the house nice and anywhere from 0 to 2 dogs. All of our dogs are short hair. I vacuumed once a week to keep on top of things and make sure to give them a fighting chance. Now in comes this work horse. I was shocked thoroughly but the amount of dirt and dust and hair that came out of our low pile carpet. I actually vacuumed twice the first time to make sure I got it as best I could. Directly after I carpet cleaned. THERE WAS NO HAIR TUFTS PULLED UP ANYWHERE. Also this is the first vacuum I have ever had that didnt smell like I kicked up a tone of dust. I can honestly say it helps my allergies. Seriously get this vacuum. You will not regret it.

> 24 hourEDIT/UPDATE: Once you get used to the rotating axis of the vacuum you appreciate it being there. It makes it much easier to use. The smaller cleaning path/head width makes it able to fit in places my previous vacuum could not. This is the best vacuum shark has ever made because it has the light on the handle, and you can open the garage to access thing that get stuck in the brush roll. Both of these feature are not present in the new models. Also there are no bags to continually suck $$ from you. The replacement vacuum I received did not have the squeaking issue. Also this cost $250 during amazon prime day so check out the website slickdeals to see sales on any item. __________________________________________________________________________________________ I just got this vacuum less than a week ago and it has already developed a loud squeal when pulling backwards during a normal vacuum stroke (straight forward and backwards) or when lifting the vacuum in it’s locked position. I just exchanged it for a replacement, hopefully the replacement does not do this. The vacuum is agile due to the swivel head but this makes it harder to use as you must stabilize this additional axis. While the cleaning path is wide for a shark, it is narrow at 11 inches compared to other brands. The light on the handle is great and not present on the new Vertex model. The wand is heavy and hard to use as the hose is very stiff and has little length without pulling the vacuum over. The canister is heavy to carry making the lift away and powered lift away modes difficult to use. The brush roll is accessible through its removable ‘’garage” which is no longer present in the new powerfins models. There are reviews of customers with legos and rocks stuck in the brushroll of the new Vertex which stops it from spinning, yet Shark says there is no way to remove it. They say the motorized head is a wearable part and not under warranty, regardless of how new it is. They will not tell you how to take apart the motorized head to access the brushroll, which btw requires a special Torx security screwdriver. YouTube channel vacuum wars has a review on this vacuum, but doesn’t mention this glaring downside. The motorized pet tool no longer comes with this vacuum and the place to put it on the vacuum does not fit other accessories, which is frustrating and ridiculous. The Pet Multi-Tool is not included which is a necessity. It is a brush and a wide non brush in one. The 3 basic tools required for any vacuum are a crevice tool, a wide non brush, and a brush. This only comes with 2 of these basics; the crevice and wide non brush (shark calls this an Upholstery Tool). It also comes with a Pet Power Brush but that is not one of the needed basics. This vacuum is heavier at 16 lbs (some sources cite 17 lbs) than it’s other (to me) comparable shark models, the UV850, UV700, and LA520. Vacuum wars has a review on the LA520 which is just like the UV850. The UV850, UV700, and LA520 all do not have the powered lift away feature or light on the wand, they each have a 9.5 inch wide cleaning path and weigh about 13lbs. The UV700 has an accessible brushroll through its removable “garage”; the UV850 and LA520 (or the Vertex) do not. These other non Apex models also do not have the ridiculous issue of one of the 2 accessory holders only working with the motorized pet tool.

> 24 hourPros: Small and gets under bed and good suction . Cons: 1)brush too small -does not fluff carpet as old Hoover did- could use bigger brush. The smooth brush not needed. It glides only on surface does not get into carpet. After vacuuming carpet looks flat like you used a roller- does not fluff carpet. 2) wish it had a bag. With bagless it needs to be cleaned every time you dump it, takes a lot of time not to mention debris not contained so it gets all over when dumping. 3) just like a carpet cleaner but with suction. Only happy with how it gets under bed. Like my Thirty year old Hoover better.

> 24 hourI was embarrassed how much dirt this picked up! Lol! I bought this to replace a Dyson and it put my Dyson to absolute shame! Wouldn’t hesitate to purchase again. Great machine. Five stars.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

> 24 hourI bought this to replace an older vacuum—does a much better job! I love the latch to remove the dust it opens from the bottom meaning you dont breath in all the dust that collets from the top. Really good suction—again, does a much better job than our old vacuum. Very happy with the purchase, shark vacuums are great.

> 24 hourI bought this to use on hard floors. It works great at sucking up dust and dust bunnies under the bed. However, it will not pick up bigger pieces off of the hard floor. Things like a dry bread crumb, a tiny piece of popcorn, or a pine needle tracked in from outside will only get pushed along. You have to disconnect the wand part and pick them up individually. The suction from the wand is great, its just not what I was hoping for. I like the novelty of how the components are all modular and are easy to take apart for different jobs. The tool stowage (crevice tool, etc.) is terrible.

> 24 hourThis thing is great. Very modular, easy to get under beds and furniture. Has several break away parts that makes it very easy to clear clogged areas. The led light at the head are a nice quality of life feature, of not really necessary. The swivel neck is very nice. Everything thing about it 5 stars except with one con. The collection bin is on the small side. My home 2.4k square feet and less than half of that is carpeted. I own 6 cats and a dog granted, but when I vacuum the house I usually have to stop and empty the bin 4 to 7 times. Even then, that is one complaint compared to everything else that is awesome. I would recommend this to anyone that isnt using this for a mansion or industrial use like a business or college.

> 24 hourNow that Ive had this vacuum for a year and a half, I feel like I can review it fairly. Yes, the honeymoon stage is over and now were having our problems, albeit small. When I first got this vacuum, I was in love. It was a beast: insane suction power, amazing swivel, and every part of it can easily be separated by a push of a button. My only complaints when I first got it: its size and no retractable cord. The retractable cord thing really got me. How do you make a vacuum this nice and not either have a cordless option or push button retraction? That answer is still beyond me. Its a great vacuum, dont get me wrong, but after owning it for this long, these are my problems: 1. It loses suction power. It will tell you to regularly clean the filter (reusable which is great) regularly, or it will lose suction power. However, even if you do this, you will still lose it. 2. The hose. Its great this thing can come apart for tasks like the stairs, furniture, etc. But the super scrunched up hose can only reach so far. How far? Not really far at all. Maybe a foot before the super slinky wants the nozzle back. Im sure you could get hose attachments, but for the pricetag, I barely feel like I should have to vacuum at all. When we first got it, it was a fight for who gets to vacuum. Now the first five minutes are vacuuming the tears of whomever is doing the vacuuming. Honestly, these 2 things, along with the bulky size and non retractable cord water my only gripes with it. It still works, just nowhere near as good as it once did, and lugging the dust compartment because the hose can only stretch so far (which isnt far at all) can be a real pain.

> 24 hourThis vacuum is great. Extremely powerful, easy to use and great functionality. This is my second shark vacuum and I will never buy anything else. The performance is second to none. I literally just got done vacuuming with a Dyson that I borrowed, and then used my new shark. It literally filled up the entire can. I love these vacuums.

> 24 hourIve been a loyal Dyson owner for 11 years now, but when the thing lost suction due to a tear in the hose, I needed to decide if I should buy another hose (which I just replaced about a year ago), or a new vacuum. After doing some research, and reading a lot of reviews, the decision became clear. Im typically brand loyal, but was really impressed with what I was reading from Dyson owners switching over to Shark, therefore, I decided to take the plunge. I vacuumed one last time with my trusty Dyson on Sunday, and received the Shark on Tuesday. It was easy to assemble, and the lift-away feature is amazing. With my Dyson I need to pull the hose to the top of the stairs since the dang thing was so heavy. But with the Shark, cleaning stairs is a breeze. I did some very light vacuuming, because like I said, I had already vacuumed on the other day, but I was very impressed with how much the Shark sucked up that the Dyson had left behind (see the attached photo). I guess my only regret is that I didnt do the switch sooner.
