While working, the RT-ax88U router was faster everywhere in my house with different clients than the Asus RT-ac68U it was replacing. However, the router has lost internet connection a few times. At this point in the product life cycle, it doesnt seem as rock solid as my RT-ac68U was that I want to replace. I am going to try an Asus AC3100 next. I wanted to get the newest hardware when spending my money; however stability is the most important factor.

What a piece. I just looked and the return window closed 13 days ago so I am stuck with a piece. I bought this as my last 3 ASUS routers have been great. This one was fine until I got 1gb internet service. Then the fun began. I tried all the setting on the different forums and still can’t get more than 500 mb down :( the rest are serious problems with the 5mhz band with this router, just read the reviews.so now I am stuck with a terrible router, I should have read the reviews first and believed them.

My family is very tech oriented for the most part, but in terms of understanding from day-in to day-out of networking needs, that seems to fall on me. As more and more tech was involved, more and more I noticed the router was being heavily bogged down. In a way, it makes sense that the RT-AC68 was meant for general purpose use, but I had all the extra bits of security added to it and it was showing its age. Naturally, one would think the AX68 should do, but unfortunately, its roughly the same CPU as the AC68 so the upgrade would be just WiFi radio. I have thought about the AX86 or AX82, but eventually found myself drawn to this AX88 for a while, especially because of the wifi range and the port availability.

Great router for my 1 bedroom apartment. Covers the entire apartment without any interruptions. Fast for streaming and gaming. The app interface is also pretty good and easy to setup.

Great powerful router. Just take some time to adjust the settings.
