> 3 dayI race radio controlled cars and fly airplanes and helicopters, and this is perfect for my hobby, or just general electronics repair. Ive used a $6.99 60watt soldering iron for about 6 years now, and it worked but it was inconvenient in that it took a good while to heat up,the temp was not adjustable, and the tips didnt last long. If I needed something soldered at the track I would have to leave the iron on between heats, but now that Ive got the hakko its ready to solder 12 gauge wire in about 30 seconds; awesome setup! Also the iron holder is very well designed so as to not allow anything to come in contact with the heat. I would highly recommend.

> 3 dayI really like this soldering unit! Having a computer controlled unit is perfect for the work that I do (small RC hobbies and occasional electronics repair). The included tip is great for most work, but if you are doing particularly large or small jobs, you may want an additional tip.

> 3 dayGreat soldering iron - beats the dickens out of the ancient thing Ive been using from my dads old ham shack. However I still havent gotten it to set a temp. No disaster but Id still like to be able to do that.

> 3 dayReally big fan. Fast temp changes and solid control. Use it for PCBs, large capacitors (used in speaker crossovers) and speaker wires, handles everything with no issues so far.

> 3 dayHakko units may be overkill for my home use, but I do love having pro equipment for my little bit of board work.

> 3 dayIf you want something that actually works compared to those soldering irons that you plug straight into an outlet without temperature control, this is one of your best and most bang-for-buck options (the other being a Weller). Have logged dozens of hours of soldering on this device on a single tip (chisel) on basic through-hole and some light SMD work without issue. The flush cutters are a nice bonus.
