No instructions about certain parts of the unit. Nothing about it on the manufacturers website. No response to emails.

This soldering station is the best I have ever used. Heats up rapidly, maintains the proper temperature, and the sponge and wire cleaner work very well to keep the tip clean and shiny. I was able to complete the assembly of a complex electronics kit (many components to solder) with pinpoint accuracy in a little over an hour. The procedure for changing the temperature is a little complicated, but once understood is accurate and easily enough accomplished. 5 stars are well deserved.

This solder is an absolute beast! It heats up almost instantly, has a ton of tip options, and looks really cool as well. It isnt too too easy to do temperature changes (a dial would be easier) but it still works quite well. The iron stand is very robust and well designed as well. I have used Weller solder stations prior to getting this unit and I had no idea what I was missing! I am very pleased with my purchase and will never use a Weller unit again!

Bought for building solar panels. Now I use it for building guitar pedals and effects. Worth every penny.

Best of the best! Worth the investment. Easy to switch out tips. Warms up fast, cools down slowly. Wish mine came with the side clips... was left out of the package for some reason.

Heats up very fast. Ive upgraded from a cheap soldering iron and the difference is night and day. Perfect temperature to melt solder, but not damage nearby components. I cant believe I didnt get gone sooner!

If your serious about soldering please dont hesitate to buy this! I have bought many different cheap soldering irons only to be disappointed almost every time. I did my research first. I took a long time to look at other brands around this price range but almost all of the reviews I read and test results pointed me back to the Hakko FX888D. I never knew what I was missing out with the temp control alone! This is by far the best soldering station I have ever used. Please do yourself a favor and pull the trigger on this purchase and get rid of all the other cheap soldering irons laying around.

I like these units. I bought two of them. One of the cheapest from Hakko. We use Hakko a lot at work, but the more expensive models. One thing that I miss about the bigger units, is power. Sometime I find my self using both irons on one side of a given component, specially on PCBs that are multi layer and with a lot of copper. Another advantage from the other type of units sold by hakko, is that the tips for this unit are not very expensive. Like 4USD vs 15USD of the ones that have the heating element with the tip. But because this unit does not have the sleep functionality you need to be very careful of not leaving the iron on or you will spend more on tips. I would definitively recommend this for small to medium projects. But their higher wattage units, the ones with interchangable tips, rule for more mass intensive jobs.
