> 3 dayI have been using a Weller station with adjustable power settings for quite some time (and before that various standalone irons dating back 50 years). This is a great step up with precise heat settings and rapid warm up. With additional tips, you can solder anything from small circuit boards to pretty hefty wires.

> 3 dayIf you have come from the cheep radio shack soldering iron like I have this thing is amazing! I have used it to solder a camera on my tiny drone flight controller board and it was so easy. You can set it to 750 degrees and it comes up to temperature very quickly (15 sec). I am using KESTER SOLDER 24-6040-0027 60/40 Stand, 0.031 Diameter, 44, 1.5 for repairs and modifications to my Horizon Hobby Inductrix Tiny Whoop and it is the perfect combination for all kinds of very small solder jobs on my drone. I also really like the little wire snipper that comes with this set, very accurate and no play in the cut. I use a lot of Knipex wiring tools that are top of the line and this is as good as any German made Knipex tool. Really as a set it will make small electrical work very doable for your average tinkerer.

Greater than one weekI bought the Hakko FX888-D but sent it back because the controls are very frustrating. I then bought the Weller WESD51. It is much much easier to change settings on, I didnt even need to look at the manual. The on/off switch on the Weller is on the front panel, whereas the Hakko is around the side. The Weller is just laid out better, and easier to use, which is important because I change my temps allot. Also the Weller tips appear to have better plating, and just appear a bit more durable. I liked the Hakko, and would probably have kept it, but the poor user interface was just too hard to deal with. If Hakko can rethink the user interface problem, I think it will be a great product.

> 3 dayI LOVE this thing. I started with a RadioShack 40w iron..man I had a time. Switched to this thing and its AWESOME. On and off time on the connection is way faster, and if you have to move to something else..you can shut it off (tin the tip of course) and turn it back on..it literally gets up to full operating temp in a minute..yes..from off to 800°(if thats where you have it set) in a minute. Great tip life and excellent construction and the price is unbeatable. A great tip selection and unbeatable tip life.
