> 24 hourOur home has an older Genie opener model that used a one-button remote (see picture for manual, old remote & new remote). The only annoying part of this process was getting the lens cover off of the opener itself to press the Learn Code button (it had 2 screws at the top of the cover, which were kind of hard to reach). Other than that, reprogramming this remote was so simple! Instructions were clear and it worked on the first try. My wife, who typically parks her car in the garage, is VERY happy.

> 24 hourI kept putting off the actual programming of my device when it arrived. Then eventually I went to the garage to try: After locating the square button on my overhead motor, i pressed it and noticed it lighting up. As such, I pressed and held the key on my new controller; the key I wanted to learn the signal. I pressed that overhead button again too, and this time a slightly different light show up overhead. I then tried my new opener, the garage opened.

> 24 hourTypically, you see companies make advancements as technology continues to get better and better. This does not seem to be the case for Genie with this particular remote garage opener. I purchased this in-spite of the fairly many mediocre reviews here on amazon... lets just say you should probably look for other alternatives. You can google it, but I had used the same Genie GIT-1 garage opener for nearly 10 years (or some Genie model with a single circle button), and my parents are still using theirs. Reason for replacing my old unit with this updated/newer/more advanced G3T-R opener was that I had broken the battery compartment door on the GIT-1, and had lost the metal clip that allows you to secure the opener to your cars sun visor, so I thought hey, might as well get a new one. Lets just say I wish I hadnt. I find that while Im in my car, to either open or close my garage door, the front of my car must be within anywhere from 1 feet to about 4~5 feet from my garage door. When Im late for work in the morning and Im rushing my car out of my garage and off my driveway, the last thing I want to be thinking is about if Im within optimal range of my garage to close it. Also, even when Im within the range that Ive found the unit to work best in, sometimes my garage will open or close with one press, sometimes I have to try 2, 3, 4 presses for it to register or send the signal.

> 24 hourWhile I cant fault the price or fulfillment, the experience of syncing these remotes with my Genie Intellicode garage door openers was a real hassle, I ended up having to spend about half an hour on hold while trying to call Genie tech support. The lady I eventually spoke with was very helpful and fully resolved my difficulties. Still, the wait seemed a bit extreme. Also, these remotes seem to emit a very feeble radio signal, to the point where it is necessary to lower the sun visor in the car so that the remote has direct line of sight to the garage door, and then be very close to the door for the remote to work properly. Mashing the button hard and holding it down seems to help a bit.

> 24 hourWe just ordered our 3rd remote (3 cars that use the garage), and they work great. Our garage doors are older, so we need to change the programming to Intellicode 1, but there are some older reviews with great instructions. Im giving it 4 stars only because of the lack of instructions if using this on older doors. Otherwise, it works great! Much better than those HUGE remotes that came with the original garage doors!

> 24 hourI bought two of these to replace some very old and one defective controller. I did a webchat with Genie and they assured me these would work with my opener. It is very old, maybe mid to late 90s. The remote is smaller than I expected, but now that I have it in the cars on the visors, I like the smaller ones. The buttons are a little hard to press. But they work and I am very pleased with them.
