Took me longer to get the ladder out of the shed than it did to get this remote to work. I have a Genie garage door opener that is about 15 - 17 years old. I was looking for the single button version but apparently they do not make that one anymore and they are very expensive. Saw this one with 3 buttons and was cheap so I thought I would give it a try. I removed the white front cover on my garage door opener and found the little black button, mine was located on the left side, pushed it the light flickered red and pulled the battery tab out of the new controller and hit the top button 3 times and the red light went out and the door closed. All good! Quick and simple.

The original replacement remotes were discontinued a while ago so when my last one quit working I was worried Id need a whole new opener. Nope, these work great on the old old old intellicode openers. Only the middle button will open the door. It can also be pretty tough to find the program button on your opener unit. Its just a little tiny plastic push button. Some are red, some purple. Mine was white. Therell be a little LED near it. If you push it quickly the LED will flash and you can add your new remote by pressing its middle button which will cause the LED on the opener to stop flashing. You can also clear the openers memory which will remove all programmed remotes. This is done by pressing and holding the program button on the opener for about 10 seconds.

Easy to pair remote to the garage, only gave 4 stars due to the range. I have to be turning into driveway before remote activated the doors.

Very easy to program. Unlike what other reviews say, it does work with Genie Intellicode 1 and the newer intellicode 2 systems. You can have a combination of both on the same remote. Read the instructions, it is easy to set any button to either intellicode 1 or 2 setting. I have 2 Genie Intellicode-1 openers from 2002 that are working using this remote. Read the description, it is not a universal remote and wont work with non-genie Intellicode systems. I only wish it had longer range, but I am not suprised given its small size and battery. The garage door is not fully open by the time I get to the garage.

It works just as you would think. But I was surprised at the distance it works. I can open and close the garage door on a detached garage from inside my house. Easily 60’ away.

I like it because they are quite compact compared to their predecessors. The range is about 15-20 feet from the door. I also like them because I can easily put it together with my car key fob rather than sticking it on the sun-visor as Id do with my previous remotes (which is also creates security risks, especially if you park your car on the drive-way over night then it becomes easy target for thieves to break into your home). The instructions to program the remote were very simple and took less than a minute. The product works as expected.

Purchased two remotes, one box was opened with everything in the prime box bouncing around. That remote is visibly used, faded, had dirt on it and a dead battery. Returned.
